On Italian pronunciation - one of the beauties of the Italian language is that pretty much everything is always pronounced, the only exception off the top of my head is ‘h’, it’s basically promoting or demoting a ‘ch’ or ‘j’ sound. So ‘Davide’ in Italian has the -e pronounced too!

That was an amazing move! But I saw another move instead of bc7.... And it was Qa8. I dont know if this is a good move as I didnt look too deeply but I was so sure that this was the move. My idea was if rxa8 then rxc5 mate. And if black does nothing then qb8 maybe possible... I also have a very nice line that is after qa8 if back plays bf8 then this is possible.. rxc5 and here if black plays rxc5 then white plays qb8 , kxa5 rxc5 bxc5 and bc7 winning.. sadly after white plays rxc5 instead of rxc5 black can play bxc5 and the whole variation woulnt have been possible.. just a thought :)

the problem is that the white king is on g1, so black plays ...Qxd4+ with check and after white moves the king then black can just eg bring the queen back to d7 to guard the b7 square again. if for example the white king were on h1 instead, Bxd4 idea would work and it would be a winning line.

Hey everyone! I'm thinking of getting back to chess after 8 years. I was wondering what books would you recommend for picking up?

Start with any book for End game , in chess you study endgame first .

I see another option. Sacrificing bishop by taking the pawn on D4, the Black Queen can't afford to capture bishop leaving B7 off guard so black has to take with Pawn on C5 which will clear the 5th row exposing the black king. White will then take the rook on C8 that has to be recaptured by the other Rook (Again Queen can't leave D7) and then White Queen to H5 will do the Job. I think that would be Mate in 10 with be moves. Hopefully Tarash didn't go with this idea and instead created the magical move which is called Plachutta :)

unfortunately, the white king is on g1 so black can recapture the bishop with ...Qxd4+ comes with check and then after the white king moves black moves the queen back to the defense of the b7 square. if the white king were not on g1 this line would work

Has anyone checked the finishing move by Stockfish? I wonder which depth of chess engine can find that.

it's actually very easy to remember, its sound like "pršuta" 🤣 and it was in this positio that Dr. Siegbert Tarrasch showed the Italians to how the "pršuta" is properly served 😉

Plachutta. Sounds like something you would order for dessert at a fancy restaurant. An ice cream cake with lots of nuts and a cherry on top. Coffee rum syrup running down the sides of the cake like a high calorie mountain stream. Eat the plachutta and you won't be able to go anywhere or do anything. You'll be too fat...
