This is really fantastic Product School, I've been trying to get perspectives on the different classes of PMs - growth, platform, consumer et al. This has been very insightful as I'm transitioning into a strategy role at a growth stage entity where one of my remits is assisting recruiters with hiring (alignment of recruitment x strategy is critical). It seems the platform PM role requires someone who sticks around for the long term (hence, can plan), is v sociable (if your clients are PMs and you don't like talking, God bless you!) and requires a strong CS background!
Thanks for this. Didn’t know there’s such a thing as a platform PM and that the objectives are quite different. I’ll put my student hat on and dive deep.
