Welcome to the Meguiar's RU-vid Channel.
Patrick, our resident videographer and photographer has been with us 5 months now and has NO IDEA how to take care of his car.
Many people like Patrick can sometimes get lost in the sea of car care products. What do I wash my car with? How can I keep it clean after I've washed it? It's the simple things that we want to help and educate you on.
So, introducing "Detailing 101". A step by step guide on the basics of car care, featuring Patrick and his BMW E36. During this series you'll see us educate Patrick on the most simple ways to Wash, Clean & Prep, Polish, Protection and Maintain his car.
Our aim is to share with you the simplest forms of car care, whether you're a non car guy, a car enthusiast, or someone that just wants to further their knowledge about detailing or the Meguiar's product range.
Every Saturday we hold club seminar's, all the way from January through to March as well as attend over 40 shows & events throughout the year and one of the most commonly asked about subjects is Polish. In this video we myth-bust the confusion between polishing and waxing and show you how to create that show car shine with the Meguiar's Ultimate Polish.

thank you, for the info, I did exactly what you said, alot of the scratches are gone. It's alot of work, I did the clay bar, the compound, the polishing and the wax, one after the other. The wife was freaking out, it took a little Moore the 8 hours. But worth it. Again thank you and keep up the good work, Mike from Ottawa Ontario CA

I came home one day to find my Alfa GTV6 had been polished while parked on my driveway by Meguiars. It was nice and shiny and had a paper stuck on the window informing me of the service.

Clay bar, compound, polished and waxed. How do I maintain and keep the paint protected thereafter? When do you repeat these steps? Which shampoo should be used.

Hey guys love all the vids and have just got myself a da with some ultimate compund with ultimate liquid wax to get me through this virus shite.how long roughly does the was last.i wash the car every week proper 2 bucket ect.car driven 200miles per week so how often should I apply the wax.i have traffic film remover should I stop using that every wash.cheers kev (scotlan) 👍

With Compound you say go at a speed of 1 inch per second. What speed do you go with when using the Polish?

Just clay bared my car. .dont have any scratches I waxed it useing meguiars cleaner wax. . Canni just skip to polishing or doni neednto compound?

Meguiar's polish is kind of non-greasy wax Designed for vehicle without scratch coat layer That's the right definition.

When removing scratches and polishing afterwards, maybe even waxing, what do you do with the plastic and rubber bits on the car such as door / window seals? Do you tape them off?

You can however products like Ultimate Compound, Ultimate Polish and Ultimate Wax are all plastic and rubber safe

Do you apply in straight lines when using pads by hand with the polish? or do mimic application as you would apply wax in small circles

It doesn't really matter but it's probably easier to see where you've been if you go in circles and straight lines!

If you are using a DA polisher the Yellow polishing disc is perfect. By hand use the same on as in the video! Yellow foam applicator pad.

The Ultimate Polish is the only polish we have! I would suggest protecting the paint after the Ultimate polish with something like our Ultimate Wax.

Compounding the car will remove your ceramic coating mate a car Should if been prepped before coating if you have swirls and marks in the paint compound polish and than re coat it

Hello guy’s !! Im from Belgium and im sorry for bad english :).. but i have 1 question !? .. can you plz answer me ? You answer maybe in the vidéo but with my bad english i not understand vry well :).. im not sure if i need compound on the car of my Mum .. the peint is sleepy but not get white ... just the gloss are look little mate at some place ://.. i want to restore the peint and then put some céramique on the car to sealling it :).. i just need to know if i need compound :).. thx a lot 🙏

If my car is ok can only clay it and wax? And about polish? I've heard that you should only polish a car about 3 or 4 times in its all life. Is that true? How many times can I use your polish product? Regards.

Do i need to wash the car after polishing using wash and wax or can i ho straight to the wax?

No need to wash the car after Polishing. Once you've got the desired gloss protect it with the wax.

Absolutely! Any top up of wax will bond to any existing wax.

After polishing apply the wax to protect that gloss.

Using our Ultimate Compound it keeps it nice and simple for any new detailers or car enthusiasts starting out!

Absolutely! Just make sure the car is completely clean and dry before application

Hi, the bottle states this is a 'glaze' as well as a polish. Which is the more accurate? How much 'cutting' micro abrasives does this contain? Can this be used as a filler glaze in it's own right?

This is close to a polish than a glaze, as glaze is quite a broad description. It's a refining tool used to remove hazing after compounding.

@@gurdevsihre1828 Both application processes will achieve a high gloss level as well as cut however the machine will get a higher level of cut.

Patrick. My car is treated by Star-guard protection to the paintwork. Does your method of detailing still apply.

I've not heard of Star-Guard before. Is it a ceramic type of protection?

Hi Patrick. StarGard apparently, it's a product that Mercedes apply to their cars and is polymer based. I saw it on RU-vid. Hope this helps. Cheers.

@@Jimmy2Pies If it's the same as a normal ceramic coating then yes the process is the same when it comes to polishing. Anything like clay or Ultimate compound may compromise it. In terms of wax it will only connect to it and provide more protection.

No unfortunately not. The product is to be applied to a clean dry car for maximum results.

How many pads do you advise to use.. even for compounding..?

All of our foam pads we would do a complete correction detail.

@@meguiarsuk so if I used M205 on an orange pad but I needed more cut so went to M105 would I have to change to a new orange pad for test spot or brush off M205 then apply M105 to the same orange pad?

What's the deal with the mt3000. These guys are the only ones you see really using it. Is it not a good machine. Reading it sounds to be pretty good and not badly priced. I am looking to purchase another DA and am really looking at the meguiars.

Joe Gross I use it, it shakes a bit more and is more noisy than rupes 15 DA. But is also cheaper. It is good overall machine. I used also Chemical Guys pads with it with no issues.
