If you enjoyed this video, here's another: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-G4w9F1yNuGw.html&ab_channel=Wondrium . It's from my 24-lecture series on "Democracy and Its Alternatives", published by Wondrium. The topic is: Do Political Parties Help or Hurt?
Quick question, if given a chance would you major in it again? I’m going back and am planning on studying it but haven’t spoke with anyone who’s majored in it
Glad you enjoyed. Given the positive response to this lecture, I'm thinking of posting more. (But I probably won't get around to it until summer vacation...)
Just typed in What is Politics and your lecture came up. When you mentioned the lecture leading up to this one, I decided that I'd take a look at it first and then come back to the exact match for my search term. I followed about 11 minutes, and really liked what I heard. I'm in the Free State Province of South Africa.

Friends! Russia is in deep trouble, extincting. Less then 90 millions of living here, while authorities either repeat fairy-tales about the quarter-century old statistics. With it's rulers, pushing the nation into the "friendly embraces" of terrible China. But if you say "Putin's regime", be acknowledged that it is the most part of rich people, who "fled" from Russia. Some of them made scandals before leaving Russia. Just to show off that they were opposition and therefore had to leave. Don't beleive them and don't provide them cooperation. I am not talking about common people. Most of the common people who'd fled ex-Soviet republics are victims. If they are not unexplainably rich. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mNEd56gCmFA.html
I'm taking an online class for Comparative Politics, but I'm used to the lecture/in-class setting still. So personally, I searched on RU-vid for "intro to comparative politics" and yours was about third on the list, but looked like an actual classroom. Thank you so much for posting!
I thoroughly enjoyed your video. I searched "comparative politics" to better understand what I'm getting into next semester (sociology major, PoliSci minor) The pizza analogy is brilliant; I could derive many scenarios from it. Thank you!
Watching this since im taking an online Comparative Politics class and had a hard time understanding what my teacher meant/was trying to say. This just made it so much easier. Also I previously read this professors book it was amazing I highly recommend.
Thanks for all the views and positive feedback on this video. In the comments below, please take a minute to tell me how you found it. Were you just searching for the word "politics"? Did you hear about it from someone else? Was it assigned for a class? I'm curious to know how so many people managed to find out about it.
This is very excellent lecture sir. I really like the way you teach. I come across the word politics from a book titled "The comparative politics" by an indian writer. Please share more education on politics. Very useful. Looking forward
Hello sir, I'm From Pakistan just want to study political sciences in Oxford University God willing. So for that purpose I saw your video great just great
This was really helpful for me! Thank you very much for providing this lecture! I've always felt really inept whenever discussions of politics came up so I've always remained quiet in those sorts of discussions. So I decided to search "Intro to Political Science" on RU-vid to try to take a first step to being more active in those discussions and clicked on someone's video which discussed the different sub-topics of Political Science(which included Comparative Politics which I suspect will appeal to me most). After getting done with that video, I found your video in the list of recommended. I thoroughly enjoyed this lecture and I loved the connection to picking toppings on a pizza cause that made it feel a lot easier for me to connect to. I would definitely watch more of your lectures if you have them! This was super interesting to me as someone who's field of study is a bit far off from the social sciences.
Glad you enjoyed it, Nolan. If you're interested in more lectures like this, allow me to recommend my 24-lecture series "Democracy and Its Alternatives". It's available on Wondrium.com (with a free trial membership) and by DVD or electronic download on TheGreatCourses.com. You can also get it as an audiobook on Audible or Amazon.
It's really spurs me up,it keeps me abreast in learning this theory at least it provides the possible answer I was looking for, the lecture is in deed great.
If you liked this video, consider buying my book: Hegemony and the Holocaust: State Power and Jewish Survival in Occupied Europe during World War II. It's available on Amazon, or just encourage your local library to get it!
You are an excellent teacher, congratulations! Hoping for my teachers to be like this in college, but I doubt it. I found this when I was searching for lectures about politics
Very interesting, it refreshed some of my memories. Although I don't live in the US, the most part of what has been covered applies to my country too. But the most interesting thing aboiut this class is it is very clear and understandable. Thank you.
I WATCH OUT OF CURIOSITY. I AM FROM TRELAWNY JAMAICA. I AM INTERESTED IN UNDERSTANDING WHAT "POLITICAL SCIENCE" IS. BETTER YET "WHAT" IT IS. I BELIEVE-WITH MY POOR UNDERSTANDING OF THE SUBJECT-THIS WAS INFORMATIVE AND EASY TO UNDERSTAND.
See, as much as the content is interesting, i particularly notice the body language of professors' basically, and that body language has a unique dance movement. Tibetan dance essentialy captures that element, it helps people flex their muscles and loosen tensions be it of any kind, politics or otherwise, kind of like a warm up routine.
Hello sir, I study international relations in Moscow, but I'm from Afghanistan. In my point of view the lecture is very interesting and has very interesting examples. When I saw this lecture, it helped me a lot, but still I have some questions to ask. Thank you sir for this useful video.
This is really a breathtaking lecture, i am really short of words to eulogise you sir. This has broadened my understanding about Politics and acted as a useful adjunct. Thank you sir i would like to listen you more. (University of Kashmir)
Politics is this: Never tell the truth, never keep what you promise, never answer anything you are asked and always blame the opposition for whatever goes wrong. And specifically for the US: Find as much trash and scandals about your opponent as you possibly can.
Thank you for the very informative and clear style of explaining politics. This helped me a lot. By the way when I searched for "What is Politics," your video came up first. Again thanks,
If you're looking for something a little more succinct, this is from the - What Is Politics? - RU-vid channel: "Anything related to decision making in groups."
Well about “Politics “I believe some people are interested in Politics means they look for Power, also they love worlds stuffs, like making more and more money, so they can have power, they side for people who are good looking, wether they are in the right or wrong.but they are not interested in spiritual beliefs, the unseen truth in situations, or Godly things, have a heart to feel for the “Deserving cases.
Excellent simple explanation, now I understand what 'politics' mean. Before, I had been using this word many times but without crystal clear understanding. Could we replace 'reconcile' word with a simple one in the definition of politics.
Thank you! Yes, maybe a simpler definition -- but one that means the same thing -- would be to say that "Politics is the process we use to make a group decision when people in the group want different things." (I didn't think of that way of phrasing it until after the video was posted!)
Oh maan, I've enjoyed this lecture to much and I've never been enjoyed at any lecture regardless the precious informations it includes, usually when you watch a lecture you'll watch because you have to (unless you you wanna fail) and it's gonna be so boring and super slow, but this one was so enjoyable.
Political... = it defines the study of politics in every constitution in which the focus was the result of what has been done by people running the government to thier own people, thier institution, thier sovereign territory thier human rights and government laws.. - now dont tell me that im right because i have no idea about politics .
To be honest, I don't exactly remember. I picked it up somewhere along the way in graduate school (at UCSD), though I'd be hard pressed to identify precisely which professor said it in precisely these terms.
Thank you very much for sharing such an amazing video! I like to know more about political science, could you please introduce me several important books in the field political science? By the way, I am a beginner but interested in learning! Thanks
From the projects of watts California..., I wanted to learn about politics. Kamala Harris... Made me curious. So basically there's always going to be political bias. SMH but you are a good professor buddy 💯 watts up . Come to the hood someday.
