I've never used powertex but have been interested since looking for fabric stiffeners and came across a number of powetex videos. I have a couple of questions. I work with plaster and saw someone using fabric and also painting onto the their plaster sculpture using powertex. I don't recall them using varnish and since plaster scratch daily easily I've had many problems with acrylic paints scratching easily even when varnished. Does powertex offer any additional protection once applied or does it need a specific varnish aswell? I normally use decoart duraclear waterbased varnish which is painted on. What do you recommend in terms of fabric and correct colour/colours to create the sea water from an aerial top down perspective? Thanks in advance for any help.

Hey Davey... Powertex Ultimate Medium is AWESOME... re using plaster: I find it a bit brittle on my artwork and prefer to use Easy3Dflex, 3D Sand & Stone Art from Powertex Art Supplies to make a more durable textures... However Powertex IS excellent on plaster... it absorbs into the porous surface... I recommend a couple of coats... Powertex Colours are weather resistant but if your artwork is going outside I recommend couple of coats of Easy varnish that has a liquid wax in it making it more water proof... ☺️Re aerial view of seascape I would recommend blue Powertex as a base... it dries to a gorgeous dark blue making an excellent base to embellish 😜😉☺️I hope that helps!!!

Yes we recommend using Easy Varnish on Transparent Powertex if you're putting your artwork outside.... it has a liquid wax in the varnish which makes it waterproof without changing the look of your artwork

I’m in the US and used powerwax as the final layer of an acrylic painting. I cannot get other powertex products here. What kind of generic varnish can I use? Also does the powerwax harden like cold wax medium, so you can buff it?

Hi Frani... thanks for your feedback... I know there are some issues with the sound... I am going to produce this video again... In the meantime there are some demonstration videos on how to use Powertex on this channel... check them out e.g. Bottle Bling or Mixed Media Plaque
