hey guys I have ptosis too, and I never actually knew that that was a sickness or an illness I always thought of it as a special thing and usually would show it to my friends and be like "do you know that I can split my face and give two different emotions through my eyes at the same time!!😅 guys litteraly I know it's sad noticing a body deficiency but trust me there's so many other things else to be sad about in life and it's not that affective to your careers or relationships I model and act which is the two most careers that require good look so go walk around and do whatever you want and don't even be ashamed or have low self esteem of it, your eyes almost closed or open will always look beautiful.
I know mind over matter. But ptosis is ruining my life. I've become so self conscious over it. Can't get a job, can't go out to pubs, can't meet up with friends. I just need a sign to help me get through this or overcome it.
You need faith, man. I had that illness on my left eye. I had surgery. But it helped a little. Not that on satisfactory level. But later on, I learned about my religion, Islam, and it says "God doesn't look at your wealth or beauty, but He looks at your deeds and soul".
Im really a scared i woke up today with a smaller right eye and yesterday it was swollen but normal sized also my dad has abdroopy eyelid so im really scared and dont know what to do
Yeah it sorta sucks but there’s not a whole lot u can do about it. Over time I’ve gotten used to raising my eyebrow so it looks normal in pictures. It’s up to your muscle memory to remember how much to raise it though
Hey, a lot of you are asking about ptosis surgery. Since I was born, I have had ptosis on both my eyes. It was starting to damage my spine because I was leaning my head backwards in order to see, and so the doctor suggested I get surgery. Since i was only 10 years old, the surgery took 2 hours, and I was fully under anesthesia. Today I am 14, and I regret having the surgery. Although my eyelids are a little bit higher, you can still CLEARLY tell I have ptosis. But the worst thing is; before the surgery I was able to fully close my eyes, but now since my eyelids were lifted, I can no longer fully shut my eyes. I’m really insecure about that. So PLEASE think twice before deciding to have this surgery, because IN MY CASE ONLY, it didn’t go too well :,(
For those who still haven't had surgery yet : 1) If you have serious ptosis that interferes with your vision then you may not have option 2) Ptosis surgery is nothing but either connecting eyelid to eyebrow muscle or shortening it that is why you may not be able to fully close your eyes (even while sleeping ) 3) I am no professional but just like you guys having ptosis in my left eye by birth so this is just what I think 4) I think if it does not interfere with your vision don't just do it for cosmetic purpose , Rest is upto you edit- also depends if its in both eyes or not and how serious it is ; others might notice it even after the surgery as your eyes will look normal when you see straight but not when you look down
omg same. i’m 13 i had ptosis on one eye since birth. and got the surgery 4 months back. and now i regret it so much. although i try to gaslight myself that after surgery is better, it really is not. :( in your case you can’t close both your eyes, which just sounds terrible for me, it’s one eye, and i cannot even explain how hard it was to sleep like on so many nights. my eye is just still. it doesn’t blink at all. and 2 months after the surgery, both eyes looked symmetrical when i looked straight. but now my ptosis is back. (after 4 months into the surgery only) and my eye is still kinda swollen too. it looks so weird when i look down. i just wish so bad that i hadn’t gotten this surgery :(
I hear you George, it really gets to you when everyone keeps asking why you are tired or on drugs. Do you have trouble with double vision from the weight of the eyelids? If you do I found that a CoQ10 supplement called MitoQ has mostly eliminated the double vision for me.
I have this problem ! And i did the surgury it was really helpfull but i always had problem with my beauty ! I thought ptosis makes me ugly but now i really like my droop eye if you have this problem reading this just know that it is not that much serios and nobody cares that one of our eyes is a bit smaller than the other one ! Be proud because you are diffrent and beautifull
I have it in both eyes😂😂 I got comments all thru school going from “ you look sleepy” “are u sleep walking?” “U tired?” “ you high?” “You smoke before school huh?” Even had teachers approach me thinking i did drugs before school ( being black didn’t help either) ahhh and who can forget “ you Asian?” “ hey drew aren’t u supposed to be smart?”😂😂🤦🏾♂️
I had ptosis after i had a lump on my left eyelid and now i’m suffering cause it cannot back. I’m so self conscious. And now i hate it. I feel so depressed.
Monique Obedoza I also had a lump on my left eyelid! It would ooze puss. I tried everything to get rid of the lump but nothing worked until my mom was so tired of looking at it and popped it. I think this is what caused ptosis in my left eye.
@dongysonha I've had 2 surgeries and tried the eye drops. Nothing works for mine. Mine is about 2/3 to 1/2 open. It is like the first thing everyone notices, and doctors can't figure out why it's doing it.
Its definitely been tough and debilitating living with this condition my entire life. Its just one of many congenital eye related complications that I suffer from. I can never have my sunglasses off without people thinking that i’m sleepy, inebriated or high due to ptosis. Its one the things that make it difficult to have a fulfilling social and dating life.
Walter White so true. i used to be embarrassed but now i think that it's cool because it's kinda rare and when you slice your face half with your hand and look at the mirror at the same time you look like you have 2 different faces
@Marquis Beverley I agree. It's not something you want ppl to notice the first time they meet you. Especially if underneath appearances, you're really a good person.
@@mrduck3474 oh good for you :)) I hope that your surgery would be successful. I might consider doing Non Invasive Eye Surgery in the future. Try to search about it you might consider it. For now, I an putting Eyelid Glue to make it look even. Im a student BTW
@@gamerfi4773 search about it. People usually use it to have double eyelid. I think it will only works for those who have minor ptosis. I havent try it yet but i know it will work for me. You can also use eyelid tape for more stick but it is visible. You can check it on amazon
I see a lot about fixing ptosis but I wish there was more acceptance! I hate feeling self conscious about it and I’m trying to accept myself the way I am. Maybe I can get the surgery one day but I want to feel better now! Struggle ugh
@@sakarbaniya Mm i think it was decent. In my opinion i have seen beter results online. I have now a scar on the eye that was done. Scar is not that big but you can see it, i think they could have done a better job to place the scar higher so it would fall into the eyelid fold. And the color of the skin is a little darker now. I think cause they burned the skin to stop the bleeding. The first 3 days i was a little worried cause i couldnt close my eye. afer day 4/5 i could close my eye. I have ptosis on my right eye and im so insecure. Because other people see that i have a smaller eye. I always thought that other people sees me like i see myself in the mirror, but its not. After i took a picture with my back camera i noticed how other people sees me, and after that i started to hide my eye.
I just had my Ptosis repair surgery, was dome OPD since insurance denied In-patient. Ptosis was affecting my daily life on top of been told that I was looking Tired....
@smtz1966 Hello, NO, I didn't wear pach after surgery. Just darker glasses and no makeup. My surgeon prescribed an ointment as an antibiotic. He advised me to place it twice a day.
anyone else has congenital amblyopia with mild ptosis. I have both in my left eye and got surgery when I was 15, and now my left lid eye looks 95% like my right one. No one notices the subtle differences in their size except me.. :)

My left eyelid got damaged shortly after lasik surgery in 2006. I had a lot of sty on that’s left eye too. I had Ptosis surgery in 2010, but it didn’t help. I use eyelash glue to form a crease.
hey, you should schedule an appointment with optomologist & then be referred to an ocuplastic specialist. I’ve been there. you can always get a second opinion. be strong!
I think I have a mild ptosis on my left eye. It only appears whenever I'm tired and sleepy. My left eyelid will have 2 creases and so the opening of my left eye will be smaller. Can anyone relate to me?
@@poonanthacker1065 Still the same. Appears when I lack sleep or feeling sleepy. Other than that, it doesn't appear and my eyes are as big as it can be. Minor problem but if you have an important day tomorrow, better pack yourself with sleep. 😆
I got bitten in the eye lid and it became swole and when it healed it won’t go back to my real eye lid 😭 it’s been years I thought it would heal but it’s still not and I’m worried now. I think it’s to late .
I had surgery about 11 years ago, it worked for around 3/4 years.. got confidence back and self asteem, however it’s now returned, I’ve had the you look drunk or tired comments and it hurts, I don’t know where to turn next. This condition is horrible.
same. I have had mine for almost a decade and I did an operation and it gotten very swollen. I was bulled constantly everywhere and I feel like I'm never gonna get my life back and it has honestly made my mental health very bad.
I have it on my left eye and it makes me so self conscious. One side of my face looks awake while the other looks sleepy. Since I’ve noticed it I immediately see it in photos and I hate them. I’m considering wearing an eyepatch and calling it a day until I can get surgery.
I just want to know if it's hereditary . No one in my family has this condition so I guess I am the first one . I am male and have moderate ptosis in my left eye right from birth .
This is really bad disorder actually. Because its right on your face. I was born with it on my left eye. In childhood I didn't realize severity of the desease. But in tennagerhood it was just horrible - it gave me great depression. But now I used to it.
My right eye has a droopy lid and I'm really self conscious from it I'm not even starting my yt channel cuz of it but when I ask my mum she says they're equal but they aren't 🤷🏻♀️
Omg same...I asked my mom and she said she thought they were fine, but it’s really obvious that they’re not. They look the worst in an inverted or flipped camera it makes the sides of my face look rlly uneven :/
So this eye problem is caused by a dysfunction of the levantor apeneurosis (LA) muscle of the eyelid, causing a degeneration in normal tautness in the eyelid, causing the subsequent drooping. Orbital surgery is usually done to treat the problem - where this levantor is shrinked in length during surgery, any redundant LA tissue is removed, and the eyelid is surtured closed until the eyelid heals from this surgery.
Yesterday I was crying and rubbing my eyes a lot and now today when I woke up, i suddenly saw one of my eyelids drooping. Should I wait if it will go away, or go to a doctor?
I have left eye tosis by birth....i have some doubts: 1. Why did I get it when noone in my family has it ? 2. Is it hereditary ? 3. Is the surgery necessary i mean i don't care what people say about the looks but will it cause any problems in my vision when i get old ???
Hello, fellow ptosis guy here. I have a quite severe ptosis on the left. Age 19 1. In my case, my mom's mom had them. But I dont know if it is always that way..? Dont be afraid to ask your parents about their parents if they also had them. It is not a embarrassing thing to ask, TRUST me 2. Again similar question 3. In my case yes, my right vision is much worse than the "ptosis left". I personally think it is because i use my functioning right eye much more often so it got "worn" lol. Not 100% but i think its an acceptable reason. The reason why i didnt get surgery as a young child was because my parents thought that the idea of having do full body anesthisea as a child was dangerous for me. So as im fully grown physically now, im going to see the eye doctor in few days and maybe get surgery..? Hey, again, just ask your parents and they will give answers for you, if not you can go to eye doctor with your parents.. I know it can be frustrating not feeling normal, but try to have more confidence on yourself. Most importantly, stay HAPPY:)

hello. please don’t do your surgery in india. almost 90 percent of such surgeries fail. and you require revision surgeries which worsens your eyelid. i’m speaking with experience
I’m 38 I was born like this I have it in both eyes they both are very low people say I look sleepy or high I never knew the name of this disease until now ... I have 4 kids 2 girls and two boys thank god their eyes are perfect I wouldn’t won’t my kids to have to go thru this I been strong my whole life but this is something I fight with inside daily and to top it off now I have a sty on left eye that won’t go away must make a eye appointment to get sty removed.... does anyone know about the sty removal process is simple and does it work....
I have ptosis too, my left eye is monolid but has a crease on it, but it doesn’t fold. My right eye has a hooded double eyelid. I wanted to get this surgery too but the thing is I have a big, quite protruding eyes, so I’m worried that if they will make an incision, I would look like I’m giving a stare to everyone.
My left eye ptosis has become progressively worse. 2 surgeries later, it is still bad. Causes neck problems. Went from 20 20 to needing glasses in my left eye. Constant pain in and around my left eye. Doctors can't figure out what is causing it. Any suggestions?
I was just reading comments and every one is telling that they lack self confidence and are anxious etc. The fact is you are like that and you have to accept it ! Remember everything happens with the will of God annd if he has made us like that then - accept it! Feeling low about this is normal.... honestly i too feel inferior many times like when there is a video call, conference and especially when i have to meet new people....i keep thinking what will they think of me and bla bla Off camera I'm so confident! But on camera still feel a little nervous Think about the people who don't have vision at all or even worse those who have lost it in mids of their lives Trying different styles, different angles In photos will also help boost self esteem Most people will never say anything to you regarding your droopy eye(s) bcoz they don't care about what you are Some will make fun of you they are mostly your colleagues and people you know coz you are better in many aspects than them and people do it to lower your confidence! Some are close to you and still supportive- they either need you or love you or are great people who mind their own business So when there are so many types of people around you why think of those who are useless to you? Lastly i would say that your looks does not matter at all even a beggar can be handsome or beutiful but respect is given to position so do something in life! Keep faith in God...he tests us and wants us to win...he has given a few millimetres asymmetry so he will definately give something more to you...not discovered it yet ? Don't worry you will Bhaiyo athwa behno kya chinta karte ho! Maje karo yarr faltoo tension mat loya karo !!! 😁😁👍
