One of our most frequently asked questions. Simply put: Reverse cordovan is the back side of the finished shell. ashlandleather... / ashlandleather / ashlandleather
You should def sell the Horween stamped wallets or leather products at a premium. As opposed to, maybe you will get it, maybe you will not. You'd be suprised how much mroe you can get for that. I'd venture to say, if you were to have a replica stamp made (being fully transparent about it) and simply asked if people wanted their pieces stamped with the brand for an extra 15 dollars, im betting you would get it. If you wanted the 1 or 2 pieces that have the authentic stamp, for $50 premium, id bet you would also bet that. I say that for many reasons, one is, if you are never shipping the stamped pieces out and keeping them for urself or family or gifts or advertising or displays, then tbat is not right, tbh and fair. At least state, you will not receive a stamped piece, as I would legitimately not like the wallet as much, if I didn't get a piece with with the horween stamp on it.
I like a reverse-shell T-bone steak. What is do is cut the steak local close to the bone, then I throw the steak out and then I just kind of nibble on the bone. I can’t tell if this is high connoisseur level or super hipster. Either way it just seems really weird and really wrong to take this rare leather and then deal with the backside of it.😖
I have had a Johnny the Fox reverse black shell cordovan for about two years. This is my favorite wallet of all time. The patina is sublime and the shell becomes more supple over time. If you want the best and most distinctive wallet on the planet, get a reverse shell from Ashland.
I think I have the concept of reverse shell cordovan down....perhaps but not really sure....LOL...I really enjoyed the look of the wallet which appeared to have all the possible variations of reverse shell....it’s really neat looking...I’m just curious if you charge more for each of the reverse shell variations you go through while making a wallet. Since I’m not 100 % sure I understand the process, perhaps my question doesn’t make sense. Maybe I should watch the video again and ask the question in a different format???...keep making the interesting videos which I enjoy. Good job!
Hi Ed. Yeah I think I went into the weeds a little too deep on this video. The reverse shell cordovan is the back, unintended side of the Horween shell cordovan. It has randomized color and patterning...kinda reminds me of a Jackson Pollock painting. Right now I don't charge more for any of the reverse variations. I strongly prefer the hand-glazed reverse but some people like the matte finish.
I haven't seen your color #8 wallet. One tip I can give you is that using polish can sometimes be counter-intuitive. If you put too much product on the leather it can over-saturate with waxes and oils causing the polish to sit up on the surface giving a cloudy, hazy look. If you want you can send me a photo and I can try to advise: Phil@ashlandleather.com

Hey, Alex. Thanks for checking out the video. The reverse shell cordovan is really amazing. I don't know of any place in Houston that sells shell cordovan but I would suggest checking out The Tannery Row www.thetanneryrow.com/
