@celiasleigh2805 Because, like he said when he went to a supper at someones house, "salvation has come to this house". Technically, when HE returns, HE is the king of the kingdom WHEN HE RETURNS. HE, is also Technically, salvation, WHEN he returns.

I am halfway through the gospel of John this summer going very slowly verse by verse and I just realize there’s only one spot where John talks about the kingdom of God. But Jesus in the gospel of John is always talking about eternal life, and the promise of the resurrection. Isn’t that intertwined with the kingdom of God?

What a wonderful way to wind through Scripture this summer! And, yes, the life of the ages (eternal life) is not about escaping from creation but about the launching of God's Kingdom on earth, as in heaven, and its ultimate fulfillment and the hope of resurrection. We have an online course, 'Themes in the Gospel of John', which relates to the book 'Broken Signposts' that might be an interesting dialogue partner as you finish up the Gospel of John.

Daniel 2:44 states that God's Kingdom is a real goverment that will intervene in human affairs and destroy all other kingdoms. At that time, the only goverment on earth will be God's Kingdom. As we read in the NT, the chosen King of God's Kingdom is Jesus. He has selected some individuals to rule with him in heaven. (Revelation 5:9, 10) Those on earth who are under this rule will no longer suffer and die. (Revelation 21:3, 4) God's promise to Abraham about all nations being blessed will finally be realized.

I am glad that at least some hold to this biblical view of the kingdom of God. Thus is the central topic of the bible from beginning to end imho.

A lot of believers are taught that "kingdom of God" and "kingdom of heaven" are different in some significant way, but I don't really see it. They seem to be interchangeable. But I suppose nothing in scripture is interchangeable. It speaks the way it does for a reason. I wonder what Bishop Wright would say.

Not entirely..the idea is different.. .no where does the NT say "to he kingdom of heaven" but "kingdom of the heavens" ..in Jewish idea there are 3 heavens..1. what God and angels are 2. Where the stars, sun and moon are 3. Where the birds fly and where above our ankles we live. The kingdom of the heavens is those three heavens reigned by God..his presence.. that's more involved than just kingdom of God. They aren't entirely interchangeable though the same thing is meant

@@Liminalplace1 Hey there brother Paul, thanks for that reply. I would have to agree with that. The Father, and now Christ at his right hand, are "in heaven," where their will is done. That will manifest on earth is "the kingdom of God." Something like that.

@@duncescotus2342 I think Dallas Willard or Scot McKnight clarify what the kingdom is ..search those names. It's available to all to enter.. it's deeper than just God's sovereignty. Leads to transformation. Have a blessed day

@@Liminalplace1 That's right, because sovereignty is what you call it when one kingdom abuts another. His kingdom has no end--- super-sovereignty! But I will check out those refs. thanks brother!

Mark used the phrase "kingdom of God," and Matthew swapped it out for "kingdom of heaven" when he drew upon Mark's Gospel for his own Greek composition. He may have done so to avoid overusing the word "God" and risking a violation of the commandment against using the LORD's name in vain. (But scholars have suggested other possible motives Matthew would have for this circumlocution, including an effort to shift the theological focus to themes that are more common in his book than in Mark's.)

But what is the Kingdom of God?! You did not say! What is meant by "the government will be on his shoulders," Isa 9.6-7? What is meant by "the throne of David," Luke 1.35? One way to think about the kingdom of God (on earth as in heaven) might be as we see Jesus coming to dwell with his people and putting things right in the new creation in a whole new way.

It's a real government in heaven that will rule over the earth with Jesus as king. "In the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed. And this kingdom will not be passed on to any other people. It will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, and it alone will stand forever" Daniel 2:44 Jesus showcased the benefits of the Kingdom while he was on earth. No one will be hungry or sick, even death will be gone. "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” Revelation 21:4

Let me explain something that very few understand: Just what is THE KINGDOM OF GOD? Jesus, after being tempted by Satan (Mark 1:13) came preaching the gospel of the Kingdom of God (Mark 1:14). The Greek meaning of the word "Kingdom" is "royalty, rule, realm"[STRONG'S (#932). The word "realm" means "government" in the dictionary. The word "of" means "coming from." Therefore, Jesus came preaching the royalty, rule and government coming from God. Now U know just what the KINGDOM OF GOD is all about. It's not about going to Heaven. It's about the Government of God that's coming to this planet. And that Government will B on the shoulders of Jesus (Isa.9:6) when He takes over the kingdoms (governments) of this world (Rev.11:15). Don't hide this truth from others, tell them about it.

260 Kingdom of God Jesus preached the Kingdom of God. Only about the "Kingdom of God" did he talk. 1)"Be born-again to see the Kingdom of God". He continued to Nicodemus who still was skeptical, "the wind's effect could be seen on trees". Though being BORN AGAIN is internal and non-observable, the effect of the KOG would be observable in the surroundings, as the effect of wind on trees. 2) Of the Kingdom of God Jesus said " KOG is at hand". The Kingdom of God is right here and right now. 3) Jesus further said "Whatever you have done to the least of your neighbour, you have done unto me". Where the powerless neighbour is treated as King God, there is the Kingdom of God . But who is the least in the neighborhood? Whoever at the receiving end of a transaction is the least in the environment. A pedestrian in front of the car driver. A king in front of the tax-payer. Next one to use the toilet. Listener in front of the preacher with a mike. The posterity... Even tomorrow's me is at the receiving end of today's me…. Where the sermon on the mountain is considered as practicable and honestly followed there is the Kingdom of God. The Kingdom of God envisioned by Jesus is simply treating the least in the neighbourhood as the King God. To serve the powerless neighbour as the King God. One needs to be born again to replace the attitude of exploitation with the attitude of love and care towards the weak neighbour. Born again childlike mind is representative of a child's readiness to accept new interpretation of nature, ie. the scientific temper too. When we look around we are not able to see KOG anywhere in the world. Churches build mansions in the name of the Kingdom of God. We see church authorities and elders fight to loot the asset. Though Church denominations differ on petty details they are in harmony about the impracticability of the Sermon on the Mountain. Jesus invites individuals, not Church nor any establishment, to follow Him bearing one's own cross. If I find the invitation attractive, the onus is on me to bear my cross and follow Him from this moment on. Bearing one's own cross simply means to take the decision in favour of the weak neighbour (decision to serve little neighbour as King God). Now and here, at hand, is the Kingdom of God. Jesus invites each individual to create a node of one's own Kingdom of God around oneself, where the least in the environment is treated as King God. As long as the least in the neighborhood remains neglected, the Kingdom of God is willingly avoided by the individual. It's futile to wait for the Kingdom of God after death neglecting the Kingdom of God at hand. The "Kingdom of God '' which is at hand, as envisioned by Jesus is to be created willingly by bearing one's own cross. The cross of treating the little one in the neighborhood as King God. Anyone who wishes to follow Him, needs to take decisions in favour of the little one in the neighborhood , "Right here right now".. every moment of life. Indeed a cross, not as easy as following the mindless rituals prescribed by any religion. Religion attempts to obliterate the spirituality of the Kingdom of God. Religion colludes with the individual to neglect the King God, the powerless neighbour. Jesus' invitation is to bear own cross to create the "Kingdom of God" at hand. No erring establishment, nor a leader unable to walk the talk, should be an impediment to the formation of my own personal "Kingdom of God".... A microcosm of the "Kingdom of God" is created at the node of the individual who decides to take Jesus' invitation "to be born again to see the Kingdom of God" seriously.

Two small problems. You are flesh. What is spirit, (resurrected Jesus, and you in your turn), is spirit. You must be born again AS an immortal spirit, to enter the kingdom of God, NOT just be spiritual. The apostles made it about conversion, not actually becoming an immortal spirit, as Jesus described it to Nichodemus. The kingdom of God is not yet, according to Christ. It occurs at the END, i.e. his return. He said the end occurs when the gospel of the kingdom is preached to the whole world. Mt.24:13-14 Currently, the gospel about Christ is everywhere, and overwhelming, while the gospel according to Christ, is almost non existent. The vast majority of professing Christianity, is buying, and preaching a false gospel, while being the deliberate subject of 1John 2:3-4 Imagine, the majority aiding Satan in the prevention of the return of Christ. By simple observation, that's all it can be.

Religion eases individual Psyche’s difficulty with the idea “Kingdom at the End”. Jesus advised to take up own cross in following Him (in making the Kingdom in neighborhood of the one decides to follow). Kingdom is the attitudinal mutation. Kingdom of God is about treating the LITTLE NEIGHBOR as King God. Hitherto exploited little neighbor is mutated to treat with LOVE (Agape) on being Born Again. The conscious decision of being Born Again is taking up the cross (risking own survival in avoiding the means of survival (exploitation of little neighbor). Kingdom of Heaven is in fact Psyche’s mutation to the attitude of SCIENTIFIC TEMPER.. Being Born Again is casting away the sense of maturity (fruit of the tree of knowledge/ Kingdom of Earth / Earth is the rhythm observed so far / truth of past ) and stepping into the uncertainty of the future (fruit of the tree of life/ Kingdom of Heaven/ Thanks Again Sir 🙏🙏

@T K THOMAS Small problem. The way you describe being born again, only agrees with the apostles, though they be ordained. I agree with Jesus, as to truly being born again, in completion, as immortal spirits, in a kingdom, a kingdom being a hierarchy. I don't care for the complicating the simple, in your explanations. Did you know that in other versions of the Bible, the kingdom is at hand, is the kingdom is coming? The kingdom is coming, is more accurate, as the gospel of it, is yet to be preached to the whole world, and wars are reality, not the kingdom of God.

@@eltonron1558 🙏 Words “ Satan “ and “God” and King . What exactly do they mean? From the story of “Eve being deceived by Satan “ , we probably can arrive at the the following meaning. The individual Psyche’s lifemay be considered as the garden of Eden. The centre of the garden is “NOW” (this moment), which can accommodate two trees simultaneously ( Past and Future). Repetitions observed in the past helps create rationality and truth perception based on PAST observations. The self (SA) encapsulated by MY MATURITY (my rationality/ MA) is the Psyche. “SMA” represents the Psyche well. SMArtness is the pattern developed from MA (my everything/ my money/ my awareness…) protecting the self from its environment. 1) “Satan” advises the Psyche (SMA) to eat the fruit of the tree of knowledge, which effectively means to replace God with MA (my rationality). “Sath” (സത്) in Indian languages means truth. SATan is the one who advises to replace God with sath. But the deception is in the claim that Knowledge’s (fruit of the tree of knowledge) capability of making Psyche (SMA) equivalent to God. Satan claims that MA (my RATIONALITY) is able to lead the Psyche (SMA) beyond this MOMENT. MA is the interactive pattern with the environment based on the observations in the past. Satan deceptively jails the Psyche to the Past (knowledge gathered until now). “MA” (of SMA the Psyche) is the limit of RATIONALITY which never will be able to guide the individual Psyche to progress. 2) God is about “GOing aheaD “, meaning the progress of the Psyche. God GUiDes and GUarDs while GOing aheaD. Wading through the uncertainty beyond this moment in the company of GOD is progress, LIFE (fruit of the tree of life). The choice of the individual Psyche (SMA) decides the course of life. 3) King is about “KA”+ing (sound “KA” of act etc..). Agent promoting activity. King Satan promotes stability of the perfection achieved through knowledge gathered until now. Kingdom of Earth is about (E+RTH) maintaining the rhythm based on past truth. “MA” the perfect knowledge stagnates the Psyche. RAna (act of repetition) of “MA” is marana (മരണ) Indian equivalent of MOrtality is incarcerative effect which blocks the progress. Blocking the progress is equivalent to death and the word is used to represent death nowadays. Satan’s advice brings in MARANA (mortality) . God prompts progress through SCIENTIFIC TEMPER. Kingdom at hand. Right here right now. Being Born Again and following Jesus Christ is a choice for the Psyche, for establishing the Kingdom at hand. Attitudinal mutation right here right now. Mutation from Kingdom of Satan / Earth to the Kingdom of God / Heaven . Thanks a lot Sir 🙏

So I jumped across language boundaries in my earlier discussions about Satan God and Kingdom. SPirit = spi+rit = spiting the rhythm = hating (abandoning) the repetition = abandonment is possible in two directions (negative or positive/ regressive or progressive) Sapiens (SA +PA+) is about self’s perception wriggling out of (iens) of PSyche(the categorisation of PA+SA/ PASA is about agreement in a group of Psyches ). Sapiens word indicates the trait of disagreement. Spirit is about disagreement. Holy Spirit (God) prompts the progressive journey. Normal trait of the Psyche (SMA) is falling down or movement in the negative direction. Being Born Again is a commitment to GO aheaD ( to improve / to progress/ to opt the fruit of the tree of LIFE) under the GUiDance and GUarDing of the Almighty God. SPIRIT is about spiting the rhythm of the world. Kingdom of God is spiting the rhythm of exploitation. Kingdom of Heaven is spiting the rhythm of complacency. Holy Spirit dwells in the willing Psyche and aids the life (progress) 🙏
