Q1) Do we still have to add the email id of the users on the services? Q2) If we are adding user directory as table in model, then can we just not add userprincipalname on services and it will pick the user who has logged in and show the data accordingly?
I understand you concern. If there is security to be implemented for larger audience this would be difficult. For that create a group email I’d and add all users to that group and only group I’d in the services

I think what nishants question was, what is the point of adding users again in the service. we already mentioned all the users and their locations in the table itself. also, while mentioning in the service, we are not specifying the location too. Is it because, only if we mention users in the service, the rls will try to look the user in the user table? anyway...Thanks for what u r doing... great vids...everybody scrubs the surface, but u dive deep into the whole process...
True. Based on the licensing model it is a soused. For the demo purpose it is shown like this. If you are using power bi embedded this is not required in services
I have created a Persons table using dax and tried testing the dynamic rls it works . But when I publish in service it doesn’t work, why so ? The other users having admin permissions on my workspace.

Hello Sir, Firstly, Thanks for this detailed session on Dynamic RLS. I have come up with some issue where I have implemented Dynamic RLS where a logged in user can see the data of his direct or indirect reporting employees only. This is working fine with UserPrincipalName() function, but I want few users from HR Team to be able to see all data for all users irrespective of their reportees, So how could I skip them from RLS ? We can not manage a different dataset for this and also can not give 'Contributor' or higher access to those HR people. Any suggestions from you sir..? Thank you..!
Ussername() returns value like rajgopal@company.com whereas userprincipalname returns value as domain ajgopal. So, how your data available in source system based on that choose appropriately.
