What is SAP Flexible Workflow?
Flexible Workflow is a new concept introduced in SAP S/4HANA with the objective to simplify workflow configuration. SAP Flexible workflow aims to simplify workflow configurations, it allows you to create condition-based workflows for approval processes and it’s also used for approving documents, such as purchase requisitions, purchase orders, or supplier invoices.
Flexible workflow improves SAP Business Workflow's accessibility, reach, and flexibility to better serve the growing needs for cloud-based innovation.
Business process experts can create workflows using predefined content and tasks. This means flexible workflows can be developed with SAP Fiori apps without the need for development tools.
Advantages of Flexible Workflows
Flexible workflows can be customized through the scenarios that can be created according to the needs of your processes. Since development is not needed your key users can make changes and edit these scenarios. You can specify the steps that the approver should take for each operation and what should happen next when the approver decides to reject the work item using exception handling.
Flexible workflows provide integration with the SAP-recommended Fiori My Inbox application and support push notifications. Compared to classical workflows, flexible workflows have lower costs.
