“यह वह प्रक्रिया हे जिसके द्वारा किसी बेलनाकार की बाहरी और अंदरूनी सतह पर ऐसे हैलिकल गॄव ( Helical Groove ) काटे जाए जो लगातार ( Continuous) हो , आकर ( shape ) तथा कोण ( Angle ) में समान हो और वस्तु के प्रत्येक चक्कर में एक समान बढ़ोतरी रखते हो !
( A screw thread, often shortened to thread, is a helical structure used to convert between rotational and linear movement or force. A screw thread is a ridge wrapped around a cylinder or cone in the form of a helix, with the former being called a straight thread and the latter called a tapered thread.)
What is Lead of thread ?
Lead is the axial advance of a helix or screw during one complete turn ( 360°) . The lead for a screw thread is the axial travel for a single revolution .
किसी screw पर चलता हुआ एक चक्कर मे जितनी दूरी तय करता हे वह उसकी लीड कहलाती हे । सिंगल start थेड मे लीड व पिच समान होती हे । Multi start thread मे लीड , पिच असमान होती हे तथा number of start के गुणनफल के बराबर होती हे ।
Lead = Pitch x number of start.
