Thanks everyone for watching! Let us know below, if this was how you expected a Siberian city to be or not? If you enjoyed the video please give it a thumbs up, really helps! And if you haven't already make sure to subscribe for more videos from our travels!
I know Russia mainly from Michał Pater YT channel but he is showing it from totally different perspective - hitchhiking across the country, sleeping in the forest, visiting random people who invite him. It is nice to see things from slightly different angle.
Hi guys! Thanks for such an amazing work. I am from Kemerovo, and you captured the spirit quite well. I’ve been living in Kemerovo for 22 years, and it is even more beautiful in real life, especially in summer, with all the birches and pines and flowers around the city. Siberia is criminally underrated by travellers. Everyone thinks it’s cold as hell and people are mean. It is cold as hell indeed, but not always, and the people are really kind, educated and funny 🤍❄️
I genuinely had no idea that Siberia has such modern beautiful cities. Thank you for your videos I’m really enjoying them. Cheers from sunny Australia😎☀️
There are not only beautiful cities in Siberia . but there is also a family of Australian farmers . who moved to Siberia for permanent residence. They have channels on RU-vid Early_Russian . Russian Guy . Backyard Russia . Russian Homestead Girl
There's so many kind and heart-warming words from foreigners in the comment section, so it only felt natural for a local to write this. It's such a surreal experience seeing your own city from an outsider's point of view. Special things like the overhead view of the Cathedral or the firework-lit horizon shot from the village. You even managed to visit the suburban neighbourhood where I live. I' never thought that I would one day miss my native city, but It is surprisingly comforting knowing It's been captured on video and is somewhere I can find it in 10-20 years to recapture the old memories. I wish you luck with your Videos, and hope it will let other people with their cities experience the same feeling as I did here.
Thank you so much Stephen! So happy that it gave you that feeling, its the most amazing thing to know that our videos can have such an affect on someone! ❤️😊
I think Russian cities as a whole are very stigmatized, but seeing this city was truly beautiful and if tensions ever settle between my country (the US) and Russia I’d love to visit.
Wow...I had no idea. I always thought of Siberia as a desolate wasteland dotted with Gulags and very few people. Maybe small hamlets. This was a shocker.
I'm a kemerovite!!! We have a lot of coal reserves, black snow (because of coal dust) and BIIIIIG problems with ecology. Yes, Kemerovo may seem alive, but in our region the population is decreasing due to health problems. I have asthma, so after graduating I plan to run away from here) Recently, a lot of money has been coming into our region (I wonder what this is connected with?🧐), large beautiful buildings are being built (a park, a cultural cluster, a sports arena).
Wow I got goosebumps when you were passing close to my home 👀 Thank you so much for creating content like this, it was a big pleasure to look at my city from your perspective
Great job guys! Thanks a lot! Our City has changed a lot this year. He became much better and more beautiful! It would be nice to make the same video in the summer, it will be amazing! Thank you.
In fact, it is a small provincial town. The population is only 500 thousand. Siberian cities such as Novosibirsk, Tyumen, Omsk, Krasnoyarsk have a population of almost a million people or more.
I left this city 4 years ago for education in Moscow. I don't plan to comeback, but this video generates warm feeling deep inside me. You illustrated this city pretty good, and It's wonderful to see places, where you walked once. Wish you luck
You deserve more subscribers. There are many travel blogs out there but most are ‘samey samey.’ Yours is super insightful of eastern europe/Russia and dispels many preconceived ideas of these countries. I am fascinated by your vlogs and can’t wait for the next one. Good luck guys. Love it.
Lee, thank you so much for your message and your kind words. I can't really put into words how much it means to us. Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts ❤️
My father is from Kemerovo and moved to Germany 20 years ago where I grew up. He always talked about his city and I‘ve always wondered what it looked like. Thank you for showing his hometown!
This was awesome. I never knew Siberia to be so vast and beautiful. I grew up thinking Siberia was cold all the time and all snow. But I am guessing that is much further north of Siberia. I am amazed here you both are and watching other video's you have there are summers and spring seasons. I love how everyone helps others. I'm in the states so learning from the video's has me very intrigued. Thank you.
Such a nice little video to stumble upon in the evening. Glad to see people spreading a true picture of how life in most of siberia looks like. From Russia with love!
I just spent an enjoyable January Sunday morning here in rainy Oregon, USA watching your videos about Siberia, St Petersburg, and your experience on GBBO. Thank you for showing some new places, ways of living, and sharing your personal growth since GBBO. Stay well. Stay Happy.
An interesting city. I've never heard of it. It seems tranquil. I would love to see the difference between winter and summer of living life. Thank you so much for sharing your city.
So interesting … I sort of expected Siberia to be a sad looking place with few people but you showed us a city that is beautiful, full of interesting things to see and do. I would love to see it in person. 👋🇦🇺
Now imagine that Kemerovo is considered a small city. There are more comfortable Omsk, Novosibirsk, Irkutsk. And these cities are also in the east of Russia)
It’s crazy how the tribes from Siberia are closely related with the Aztec and indigenous people of America, so that means some of my great ancestors might’ve came from Siberia.
I love the idea it has ice rinks around the city I'm amazed to see big shopping centres. It looks a fabulous place as long as you wrap up warm. Never dreamed it looked like this
Thank you for the insight. Beautiful and cold. We have no idea about a city in Siberia. Greetings from Florida. Complaining about our cold temperature of 18 Degrees C.
greetings from Kemerovo, we have a damn strange weather. In winter, we have -30 on average, and in summer +30 (sorry, I don’t know how to denote fahrenheit🙂) I also want to thank you for appreciating my hometown, it's so nice❤
Cheers Carsten, yeah there is lots of development across the city and to be honest most of Russia is similar. This was something that surprised me first time I came 😊 Matt
God bless your coal miners ! I worked in the coal industry for 42 years 35 underground. In Pennsylvania the underground mines were about 56 degrees Fahrenheit year round. I think they would be slightly Colder in Siberia
I didn’t really have any preconceived ideas, but it’s more modern than I expected. My great grandparents immigrated to the United States so that my great grandfather could work in the coal mines here. I’m always fascinated with the churches there because they’re so much more ornate than our little Russian Orthodox Church here.
We are really glad it gave you an insight into how it really is Jennifer 😊 yeah the churches here are really ornate and to be honest the ones in this city are some of the least beautiful in comparison 😊
@@MattandJulia I realized after I commented that it sounded like I meant they came from Russia. They actually came from somewhere in the Carpathian Mountains. I don’t know enough, and there aren’t enough people left here who know the actual history. I really want to research it, and learn more. Also, back then, I believe when they came into the United States, their last name (surname) was not written in the records exactly right. I plan to look into it more with my daughters. They’re interested in learning everything they can.
I have been interested in Siberia for many years, and no, I had no idea there were cities here that looked like this! Makes me more interested...🦚American Grace living in India🦚
Wow!!! BEAUTIFUL!! I always thought Siberia was a place they sent the naughty people too, to do their prison time for their sentences. You made a VERY NICE video on Siberia. It seems like to us that Mr. & Mrs. Santa 🤶 🎅 Claus would LOVE vacationing in Siberia. Thank you for sharing THIS nice video with everyone.
Even in times of Tsarism, Siberia was not only a place of desolation and outcast but also a big source of natural resources, from gold and ore to exotic food and even wheat. After completing the Trans-Siberian railway, many big cities are emerged here. I’m from Novosibirsk, the biggest city of Western Siberia and the third biggest city of Russia. Here are many malls and food courts, metro railways with decorated Soviet-style stations, one of biggest and poshest opera theathers in the world (considered biggest in Asia prior to opening the new Bweijing Opera Hall in 2006), a lot of art, history and thematic museums, a big university and the two separate towns of reserachers and scientists, Akademgorodok and the famous Koltsovo, a base of “Vector” researching center for microbiology and genetics. And Novosibirsk is not an oldest city of Siberia, just biggest. Other places, such as Tomsk, Omsk, Kemerovo, Krasnoyarsk, and Irkutsk, definitely have their own, original asethetics and vibe. Here is a very hot summer and a moderately harsh winter, among the big rivers and lakes, wide, clear forests and endless plains. Definitely, Siberia is not a boring region.
Honestly it’s really kinda blew me away. Anything I’ve ever seen of Siberia it’s desolate and not modern in anyway. I’m ever getting an education by watching your videos, I do have some friends that lived in Siberia and left ( escaped) as soon as they could, they were exiled there through their grandparents during the dark days of the old CCCP. They only told me that it was a very hard life for them. The more I watch your channel the more I want to visit Russia.
Oh wow guys!!! That is amazing. My girlfriend and I used to live in Kemerovo at the exact time of you being there. We are from South Africa and we used to stay at Октябрьский проспект 51, the reddish-brown building seen at 2:05. If only our paths had crossed. 😊
@@MattandJulia We taught English at Хайлайт, a relatively large extracurricular language school. It was an amazing experience and our introduction to Russia and where we fell in love with the people and culture. We are furthering our adventure to Chelyabinsk next year. Absolutely can't wait.😀
