What Is Skull-face Bookseller Honda-San? | First Reaction 

Do you ever feel dead inside when working retail? Honda-san does.

As a bookseller I can relate to a BUNCH of this anime. It hurts so bad because its so accurate. I love it. While there are differences between the US and Japan some of it is very very very relate-able. This is my favorite anime of this season. Easily.

Yes I'm so glad someone is actually paying attention to this at all! (also I find it kinda funny that he's a skeleton but that has no impact on anything at all)

I especially love this anime because I'm an actual bookseller in the real world. Granted I'm not a skeleton who sells manga and western comics in Tokyo, but one who sells textbooks in America, there are some situations that are just way too common and hilarious to see in anime form. I both sold books to very strange customers and desparetly made recommendations to confused people and also frequented bookstores in Japan so I have to admit I was indeed one of the foreigners that probably made a Honda san very anxious lol.

Be honest Arkada... you dont wear pants do you? we all know you could get away with it.

While I only worked in a factory and not a bookstore, I can relate to Honda-san more than I am comfortable to admit.

The show is interspersed with many laugh-out-loud moments, many 'too real' moments. Hondasan's reactions were priceless, they made the anime for me so it's fitting that he should be the star of the show. The music was right up my alley and the characters were all likeable in their own way.

I actually work as a bookseller and while my experience has some notable differences, this show still speaks to me on a deeply personal level.

2018 was the year of the Skull headed anime protagonist for me. Overlord, finishing Magus' bride now this show is on my watch list.

Wow your description of working in a bookshop was pretty much identical to my memory of working such a job back in the day. It was in the far north of Scotland and for the month of February our takings before tax were 14 pence.

There is one upside to these shorter anime. You can binge them all in one day. That's what I did with i can't understand what my husband's saying.

I don't work in a bookstore,but I do work in retail. some of the situations that happens to Honda happen to me, such as stumbling on names, trying to advertise specific items to people, or having to deal with a separate language barrier (however mine is Spanish while his is English.)

I worked two months as a sale assistant at a book store and I found this anime disturbingly relatable

I have nothing but respect for customer service jobs like grocery stores or starbucks or places like that. As a behavioral therapist I work mostly one-on-one, and everything kinda goes according to my program, not really needing to bow to every demand someone gives me. I can't imagine working in a line of work where the customer is always right. X(

My only nitpick with this show is that I want a few skeleton puns every now and then

The "lack of artistic focus" for the sake of focusing on storytelling has been my answer as to why Welcome to Ballroom focuses relatively little on the intricacies of dance and instead on the character's mindsets about the dancing they're performing. I think inner monologue when done right can be more important than the outward expression.

Hey Arkada, Thank you for calling attention to this delightful, albeit short, anime series. I was wondering if you plan to do a review of the MONTHLY Fate cooking shorts that have been coming out on the first of every month this year. I personally find them to be quite an enjoyable slice of life cooking show with characters from the UBW franchise. It's as if the characters decided to take a break from the Holy Grail War and sample some of the local cuisine (particularly when it is cooked by Emiya). If you don't have time I understand, I just wanted to know what a fellow fan of the Fate Series has to say about this quaint section of the show and its bizarre scheduling. Thank you, as always, for your incredible work and I look forward to you next review!

I love to draw skulls and skeletons. This anime is cute and even though Im not Japanese and live in Ecuador all the job struggles feel close to home :D
