Psychology is a good start. Learning the difference between hardware and software is essential to understanding why we are led so far away from the spirit. Spiritual starvation is the root cause of addiction. If you look around you will notice how many people are addicted to some form of substance or another. Video games, sex, money, power, control, YOUR PHONE...are all substances we find comfort in to pacify addiction. It's not just drugs and alcohol.
Well done! I am a psychologist currently exploring the "spiritual but not religious" issue and this video helped me find a conceptual framework to explain "spirituality" to others.
Your video has not given me any specific advice about Spiritual Health. E.g. How do I distinguish Right from Wrong moral values? Actually everyone's inner conscience can tell him/her about this issue. But, the conscience can be silenced by repeated wrong actions.
I have the same question, how do we reconnect with conscience after many wrong decisions, or if we were not consciously connected in our youth? I think spirituality is more than a belief system, its also the aspect of us which connects us to the greater essence(s) of life-- which is in all living things, from plants to insects to mammals, to the earth itself. Therefore, to distinguish right from wrong, i would say we need to consider life in all its expressions. Does dumping plastic or oil into the ocean harm other forms of life ? Yes. Then perhaps to do so reflects a lack of spiritual health. If our actions harm the essence of life for another being i would say its unhealthy. I also wonder, is the conscience ever fully silenced?
