I have been on hydrochlorothiazide and chlorthalidone, but they did not help lower my blood pressure and kept me in the bathroom all the time from urinating so much. I could not even sleep, because every 5-10 minutes I'd have to urinate. So when my doctor prescribed my spironolactone, I was hesitant to say the least, especially since my other bp meds act as a diuretic on me as well. At first, it was the same old, same old. I barely had time to flush before I had to go again, but after a few days, it began to taper off, and now, though I do have to urinate a lot, it's manageable, PLUS, it is helping to lower my blood pressure. So far I have not had any ill side effects that I have noticed. I am a post-menopausal woman who has just started NOT to have sore breasts twice a month, so I'd sure notice if that was a side-effect. Knock wood. I take 12.5 mg at 11 am.
I am male but i did had gynecomastia on the period of 8 months taking spironolactone after my annual check up the doctor made me stop this medication since my breast muscle have grown exponentially and i had lumps grown on both of my nipple area which gradually dessipated 2 weeks after stopping the prescription. I also had significant amount of hair loss after stopping the medication intake.
AS a 10 yr Stint user, do yourself the biggest favor go into any issue with eyes wide open, enlighten yourself with what is being run thru your system Meaning the pills you take and all the do's and don'ts to follow with their use.
Does this medication cause higher blood sugar levels? I was just diagnosed pre diabetic. i never had a high a1c before I have been on this medication about 8 months.
My mother is heart failure patient. She was on diltiazem, telmisartan hydrochlorothiazide and torasemide spironolactone. But recently she got a kidney problems and dr stopped all diuretics. Now she is just on diltiazem, rosuvastatin aspirin clopidogrel and amiodaron. Is it ok to continue with calcium channel blockers or should we start any ace inhibitors?
@@ebikeoutdoors have you tried anything differently like furosemide? which is supposedly a more potent diuretic than spironolactone, or anything else that has helped with your ascites fluid buildup in the tummy?
Yes I'm on that at the moment but still not that good am going to start looking in to some natural medicine because I'm on lots of different tables from ramipril to spironolactone all together I take 9 different types of tables and sertrlen but the tummy is still very uncomfortable most of the time I take it that you have the same problem 👍
