This is kind of my argument. Season 2's ending was so impactful for so many people, and it feels like they've basically retconned every single thing about it. Grogu is back with Mando, Bo has the darksaber after not much fuss, Moff Gideon escaped prison, etc. They should have just ended the story there and made this a Bo Katan spin off series.
What are you saying? That Disney would milk any of their IPs for all its worth? They would never! In all seriousness the only reason they keep selling this is because we keep buying.
@@acidrain92 Hell with ending it, the stupid puppet with his Jedi crap was finally gone, we could've gotten back to the western style that season 1 brought but nope, instead we get the WOMANdalorian.
Marvel: "People are getting sick of our shit, let's pull back on the release schedule" Lucasfilm: "People are getting sick of our shit, let's double the fuck down"
Franchise fatigue isn't something that bitter fans made up on the net. If you throw too much content at people, they are gonna get sick of it like it was their sixth day eating at McDonalds. I hope Marvel gets the message that they need to pull back on all the movies and shows they are making. As for Lucasfilm, well they are too scared to make a new star wars film so they are just sticking to streaming.
I think the big problem is that the trajectory of the shows changed after the positive reception to Din and Grogu. Seasons one and two were probably both written in advance, with Grogu originally supposed to stay with Luke. But because they wanted to milk the father/son dynamic for merch sales, they immediately retconned things in the book of Boba Fett; now Din and Grogu are stuck with no overarching story while they're used to advertise other characters.
@Shadowcam I don't think Grogu was meant to stay with Luke, because if I'm mistaken Ben Solo was supposed to be Luke's first students. And if Luke started the new Jedi order with Grogu it would just murk up the canon.
@@realityshifter3399 implying that the "canon" isn't beyond fucked rn anyway. Nobody cares what's canon anymore after the sequels fucked up the entire franchise.
Everything just happens too fast and too easily. Mando had an emotional goodbye with Grogu last season and Grogu's back after spending like two weeks with Luke. Mando broke the code last season and he redeems himself after two episodes. Mando gets the Dark Saber, setting up a potential conflict with other Mandalorians, and he just gives it to Bo Katan because of a technicality. They're taking all these plotlines that should take entire seasons to resolve and just wrapping them up with no build up.
I'm really worried that the show-writers have too much to handle. How on earth are they going to manage all of this at the same time with so few people??
@@theanafront3746 Simple, most of these will not be made, these are just smokescreens to get fans and shareholders to stick around for another 3 years, then, more lies.
Like where is the direction of the franchise going 😂 . Is there an Endgame ?? . All these characters and shows/movies being announced and it feels like the DCEU
5:35 Chris, I know what it's about! It's about Mando going on a quest for X. But he has to do 1,2 and 3 to get X. While doing 1,2 and 3, Mando meets random people, and Grogu does something cute for the audience. Mando gets X. Rinse and repeat.
In truth, I feel like this is a fan base that is inherently difficult to please with it being split between so many factions. I think the healthiest move is to really focus on some material set far (far) away from the gravitational pull of the OG trilogy.
Trying to move away from the OG trilogy is exactly what made this fanbase shred their diapers in the first place. They initially hated when it tried to move backwards, and it DEFINITELY hated when it tried to move forwards. All they want is their boring Luke and/or Fett fanfics where a grumpy faced cowboy is going around shooting things, otherwise the ultra serious franchise about Flash Gordon esque space wizards is RUINED by WOKENESS or whatever dumb excuse they tell themselves as they send death threats to yet another actor or actress in this franchise.
@@ktownshutdown21 tried away, yes but it still started out fairly close with all kinds of familiar characters. I think they just need to do a hard cut off. Set something a few centuries back or forward from the Skywalker Saga.
Disney has gotten in a mode where they are doing things with their properties that nobody is asking for. They are using their IP as conceptual idea dumps instead of trying to move stories forward in an engaging way. They need a consistent authorship team for each franchise. It’s like the every live action Disney film has become the Cantobight sequence from Star Wars.
They ain’t reviewed a single episode! 😂 At this point they’re just jumping on the hate train. Like the video about Jonathan Majors. Just quick reaction and no follow up video after more evidence came out. I still love DT but it seems like every review has to have some negativity or “concerns” included 😂
I would say that Marvel fans should demand better too. Because this was very similar to She-Hulk including Megan Thee Stallion. Except She-Hulk someone managed to be even more ridiculous.
I actually found Lizzo and Jack Black way less cringe then Megan Thee Stallion. I found the episode kind of ‘meh’ in an aimless season but Lizzo and Black seemed like actual quirky Star Wars characters in a one off episode where as Megan Thee Stallion on She-Hulk was playing herself and just being annoying and felt like an out of place feature for Megan Thee Stallion. I honestly didn’t recognize Lizzo until she was pointed out.
@@TheDawnofVanlife Megan Thee Stallion had one line and tworked, and that was too annoying for you? Jesus Christ. (meanwhile you're on season 3 of a Yoda Toy Commercial)
7:55 Everyone's going nuts because...Jack Black and Lizzo had silly outfits? At least Episode 6 had an interesting planet that felt like a city. Anything that's not Nevarro or Tatooine is interesting in this show. I thought it was neat how they explored decommissioned droids and droid bars. And the old separatist guy was a cool idea.
This season is about the Mandalorians getting their shit together to reclaim Mandalore, with the subplot being what Moff Gideon's agent is up to on Coruscant. I don't think it takes a genius to understand this. Lizzo and Black were fine as goofy nobles that we will never see again.
This season is about those things on paper. But it feels like, for 6 eps, they've been doing everything in their power to take the least direct and engaging route possible. #Demandbetter.😂
@It aint no thing The original two SW films are pulp masterpieces. The first film was and still is highly regarded as a classic. In its day, it was nominated for several Oscars including Best Supporting Actor Alec Guinness and Best Picture. Its sequel The Empire Strikes Back is regarded as one of the greatest sequels of all time. I'm tired of you fake fans and newbies and children coming along and using post-Empire crap SW to justify saying it was crappy all along. It wasn't. For two films, SW was legitimately great and highly respected. It's been a highly mixed bag ever since. Let's keep it real.
The problem with Star Wars is Star Wars fans NOT because they don't demand better but because they demand the irrational. The reason that a lot these Star Wars movies that get announced never happened is because Lucasfilm has become too overprotective of Star Wars. It's not that they just putting anything out there, it's that there are afraid to put anything out because the Star Wars fans are toxic as f**k. The fact that Star Wars fans think this is the worst Star Wars has ever been post-Jar Jar is exactly why there isn't a Star Wars movie, they are afraid to take any risks with the brand now. That is why I don't take Star Wars fans seriously when they complain about Star Wars. And I'm so tired of Star Wars don't have plan nonsense, Star Wars NEVER had a plan not even the prequels. Star Wars don't need methodical plan for everything that they do, they just need a vision and willingness to take risks again. And btw, they are trying to do exactly that with the High Republic, but I forgot the High Republic isn't EU so fans aren't going to give it a chance.
I'm just enjoying the Mandalorian as going along for the ride. 😂 Just expand the universe so we can do many more interesting things approaching. That's if it doesn't cancel first.
@tebatv4571 He became a side character as soon as we got "baby yoda". The first 2 seasons were for Grogu and now we finally getting some actual Mandalorian content now the show is bad lol
I liked this episode a lot idk what y’all are mad about I’m not a Lizzo fan but I wasn’t bothered by her in it I’m glad they didn’t make her do cringey things. I think Dallas Howard did a good job I’ve liked this season a lot.
I really liked this episode - it felt like just a goofy detour with the cameos not playing characters, but just playing themselves. :) I was actually enjoying Season 3 a lot because it really felt like we were building up to something, but...yeeeeaaah, I am starting to get worried. A lot of the refreshing fun of the Mandalorian was just watching Din and his son playing side quests and _refusing_ to get involved in the Main story at all costs lol. But now, it looks like their story is being quashed for more overlap of the EU, which, idk, I guess that's great for the hardcore SW fans that watched through every episode of TCW or SWR, etc? But, for simple viewers like me, that's honestly NOT something that I waited over a year to see. The Mandalorian was fun because it was simple and didn't rely solely on easter eggs, the movies, or the viewers to have seen the 200+ shows and LEGO games to build its world. I really don't care about saving the galaxy (again...and again...and again), or space politics. I just want to know what our Space Dad and his boy are up to. ❤
Was a little silly but the season hasn't been that bad. Man starting to kinda hate star wars fans. They're always mad about something. And andor got a ton of hate too. At this point I just ignore reviews and discussions about it. It's just tiring. This season has been a bit of a step down but it's not over yet and it's not really that bad
Plus they don't talk about any of the new announcements. A lot of the stuff they are complaining about I feel has been addressed at Celebrations. We're getting multiple new series and films, set in different time periods, done in different genres, and there is a plan to tie the Mando-verse all together. I'm guessing Ahsoka is going to split fans down the middle between those who watched Rebels and those who hated on it back in the day. When you see all the love and passion of SW fans at Celebrations and then compare that to the reactionaries online it's like night and day.
Wait a sec. THIS channel is complaining about too much Star Wars? Didn't you want more stories exploring more of this universe instead of seeing the same damned desert planet? Anakin was right about sand btw, it's awful. "Could do something new but they don't want to." Someone never saw Star Wars: Visions. Also shame on both of them for not telling Korey that this was Christopher Lloyd's episode, who was great in his role. And this episode showed a new planet that is not only independent from the New Republic, is willing to partition them to formally recognize Mandalore as an independent system. Fleshing out and expanding the universe. While Palpatine did shut off most of the battle droids in RotS, the people behind that army never went away and this episode reminded us of that. Just as that earlier episode showed us that the Imperials are still active. Instead of toy sales, did you ever think that maybe Grogu just wants to be with his dad? Especially since what happened last time he hung out with Jedi, a memory Luke reminded him of btw. Grogu also is who Din is talking when he's explaining Mandalorian Culture and customs. If you think he's just there to be cute, you need to stop watching cause you are clearly not paying any attention.
I might be the last person on Earth who has no problem with this season. I didn’t go in with any expectations & I’m just letting Dave & Jon take me on the journey they want to take us on. Also, if you’re annoyed because this felt like a “side quest episode,” where was this outrage the first 2 seasons? Also, is this your first time watching a Star Wars show, cause that’s how they do storytelling. Also, does Chris like ANYTHING anymore. Just a bunch of bitter Texans.
Because there was still a plot and a storyline in the background. Also, Dave did not work on this season lol just Jon. The fact that Rebels feels less goofy/kiddy as this is very concerning......I heard these last 2 episodes will be lengthy and will include Moth Gideon and reveal his plans so I'm excited for the season to finally start tomorrow
This season should've been about Mando regaining Mandalorian status again. But they wrapped that up in one episode. When you really think about it, it's not even THAT difficult for any trained Mandalorian to travel to Mandalore and jump in the Living Waters for a minute. They should've made that more of a challenge or trial that lasts a season.
Exactly. That should've been an epic quest in itself possibly culminating with a Mythosaur encounter/battle either to enter the caves or exit. Instead only Bo Katan sees it & it's wrapped up in one episode. Oh yeah & Mando gets beat & nearly killed by a one eyed scavenger creature.
While I enjoyed the idea of the episode ( the celebrity cameos were be much) and the season, for the most part. I have to admit this season feels very unfocused and dusjointed. My two theories as to why the show has this unfocused storyline, is that Grogu was supposed to stay with Luke for a while, and Din could focus and mandalorian stuff without constantly having Grogu attached to him, but Disney got to sale them toys. Second and probably the bigger reason, apparently, a lot of stuff we see with the New Republic and maybe this episode was supposed to be in Rangers of the New Republic show that Gina Carano was supposed to star in. But they just cram all that into this so show instead of recasting Cara Dune or going with an entirely new character to head the show.
I knew they just gave us a fun episode last week cos they knew things would get hardcore in the last two episodes. Similarly in the Bad BAtch all the so-called filler episodes were specifically to make us like Tech more before the finale. We need more patience before judging.
Umm. Yall are silly. This season does have a solid over-arcing driver. It is the re-unification of Mandalorian society. I think the problem is, cats got used to this being the Dinn Jarin show. However, they named it Mandalorian. It SHOULD touch on Mandalorians. I dont understand why this is a hard concept. They probably DID have other plans, but Bobba Fett did not do as well as they hoped and Gina Carano fucked up the stories they were setting up with her. In just this season, you have gotten some of the problems that kept the Mandalorian society fractured (over-reliance on tradition for some, the mercenary mindset for some), a taste of how a Foundling is trained, a glimpse into societal hierarchy outside of the small sect Dinn belonged to, a bit of their lore/religion, and some detail about what happened to their homeworld, as well as why there haven't been attempts to take back the homeworld. It's not bad at all, but some people want all action all the time. Sometimes shit needs to get set up.
Say what you will about Lucas and the prequels but even when the movies were failing when he ran Lucas film the video games were at least doing interesting things vs this mesa of average.
It’s funny how when the prequels came out, they were despised. Seen as the worst thing to happen to Star Wars. But now they’re looked back on fondly. Part of this is because nostalgia, and because the Disney era of Star Wars have kinda divided the fanbase completely.
Have you forgotten about animated Droids, Ewoks, The Star Wars Holiday Special, both Ewok TV movies. Star Wars has always struggled to create stuff outside the core films. Before The Clone Wars (which had a struggle start with a horrible movie) Star Wars struggled to expand themselves in TV and mostly failed. Disney just has more money to throw concepts against the wall and see what sticks…or at least they thought they did. Now they’ve had multiple flop projects, we’ll see what happens.
Lizzo and Jack Black were very much giving Space Balls! I dunno, people forget Star Wars has some stupid baked right in, so this didn't hit me too hard. Though I feel like The Mandalorian very consistently fails to meet it's potential. People who want good Star Wars need to *get over themselves* and watch Clone Wars, Rebels, and The Bad Batch! They still have very silly and skippable episodes, but the *best* Star Wars is in there!!
I still say, The Last Jedi tried to do something new, but everyone hated it, so they back tracked due to fans “demanding better” or should I say, “demanding basic.” We also have to remember, shows like Mandalorian are for kids. Andor however is for adults. Idk, Chewie was doing a Tarzan yell in Return of the Jedi.
Should they demand better though? No matter what people do with Star Wars, people are still going to bitch no matter what. They’ll never be satisfied. At this point, I’m half expecting these kind of fans to perform a January 6 at Lucasfilm
Not true, people praised the first two seasons of Mandalorian for the most part, Rebels has an audience that’s fond if it. Rogue One is often praised as the best of the Disney era films. The final season of Clone Wars was produced under Disney and praised with high marks for the most part. Yeah, you are prob not gonna praise the ‘rage’ crowd. But there are people who, for example, think Andor was brilliant but Obi-Wan was weak. It’s a lie to say Star Wars fans just flat out hate all the new stuff. Like I loved the Grogu story the first two seasons. Now I am frustrated as they seem to be going nowhere with him and he is just a cute toy-selling plot device. The only people who say this ‘Star Wars fans are never pleased’ crap seem to be the folks who only track ‘anti-sjw’ ‘anti-woke’ youtubers when there are a bunch of Star Wars fans that aren’t in that group and also aren’t going to praise everything Disney puts out just cause it exist.
@@TheDawnofVanlife yup but the problem is there are fans and there are Gatekeepers of Geek culture that complain for rage bait clicks! They want to hate anything Disney puts out because they are fragile about diversity and inclusion.
@@kicknowledgesmith8608 So, find me a fandom as old as Star Wars that doesn’t have that group. The gatekeepers don’t ‘gatekeep’ anything, they just whine a lot and act like they own something they don’t while complaining with people who want to stew in the same negativity. I watch plenty of youtubers who aren’t that at all and give a fair measure to most Disney Star Wars releases. Some they like, some they dislike. But as soon as they dislike ANYTHING, even if they have been fair to new stuff in the franchise and are even fans of some of the new stuff, that one thing becomes ‘you Star Wars fans are never satisfied with anything and you hate everything’ even if that’s not true at all. It’s treated as too binary, you either have to love everything or you must be part of the group that hates everything.
My love for The Mandalorian dwindled a bit during season 2. This season it’s almost a chore to watch because it feels all over the place. Mando & Grogu’s mission essentially ended in the 2nd season, and I’m coming to the point of not wanting to follow them if they have no purpose other than to be….“just there.”
I’m a Fan and I’ve been enjoying what’s been going on in Mandolorian so far. Far more so than with Andor. If anything the recent episode having Jack Black and Christopher Lloyd in it was the most I ever geeked out that much. That pretty much made my week there. I’m satisfied.
It's got no heart though. No risk, no stakes, no tangible consequences. Think of a scene like Maarva Andor's funeral march, and speech from beyond the grave in Andor - absolutely spinetingling stuff, as just one of several moments to pull out from that one series alone. What has the Mandalorian had in this series? Space seaweed pirates? The Mandalorian reduced to cameos in his own series? Space whales?! Jesus. It's flailing around, in search of direction, and apart from the one through line of him conveniently getting the Mandalorians kind-of back together, there's been nothing else happening. I'd absolutely no hopes for Andor before that came out and wowed me - having seen the junk that was the sleb-driven Mandalorian this week, I've no hope left for the series.
Back in the day we had to wait years and even decades for star wars sequels. We even had a TV show promised to us that never came out; or was even made.... So I'm enjoying all the Star Wars content we have now... We have a variety of content; from movies, tv shows, animated stuff, video games. Star Wars has always been cheesy and bonkers. I think back then we were kids so we looked at it differently, but now today with shows like Andor, Obi-Wan, Mando, Book of Boba Fett, movies like Rogue One, Last Jedi, we have some content geared more for the adult fans looking for more substance to the stories and revisiting characters they loved since they were kids. Then you have the other movies and animated stuff geared more for kids. Star Wars shouldn't be viewed as this small indie ip like it was back in the day, it's much bigger now and it spans generations, so there should be content for all ages to enjoy. Star Wars is no longer a Galaxy far, far away, it's a whole fucking universe at our finger tips, and I'm loving it! 😊
Star Wars fans do not deserve better. After all the years of bs, toxicity, stupidity, close mindedness, hostility, and attacking actors, we deserve so much worse
Disney isn't even hiding how much they care more about selling Star Wars than telling Star Wars, expecting people to continue just mindlessly throwing money at them. "Hey look it's celebrity guest so-and-so who we mostly chose cause they were at the top of most social media trending lists when we filmed, and here's some things referencing or from the other movies/shows... Is your wallet or purse open yet?"
“Like what you like” - Korey Coleman 2019 “Like what you like, unless it’s a movie I don’t like then quit lying to yourself” - Korey Coleman December 2023 “Quit saying you like this if you enjoy it” - Korey Coleman April 2023 The real question is, fellow Toasties is this what you want? You want borderline Quartering/Geeks & Gamers style content? You deserve better
As a lifelong Star Wars fan I can confidently say that the best things about the franchise were never the movies. I've been very much sp enjoying the video games, comics, and streaming shows that have happened post Disney acquisition. I honestly don't get the issues some are having. There's so much Star Wars to enjoy I literally don't have time to discuss the aspects I don't.
Disney really has lost its spark in every property they're churning out more recently. I knew a lull had to come, but geez, not with Star Wars, the MCU, their remakes, and even some of their animated material all at once! Now they must be panicking with all the sequels they've announced, many of which will just further sully brighter parts of their brand. Like Toy Story 5, for example. Ok, honestly, like all the announced sequels. I think Star Wars needs a solid decade break from anything new being released. Slow down on all the MCU bloat cuz it's quantity over quality at this point. Stop making sequels to sequels that we're already sequels to a sequel. Don't do anymore live action remakes if you can't properly bring it to exciting life like the original animated films, please. And adopt some new creative properties and create new franchises so that someone born after the year 1999 can actually have something awesome for their own generation that hasn't already been around decades before they were born.
The problem is when people demand better they're immediately labeled with names that make people immediately disregard them (not denying some people do messed up stuff like attack actors and such which is unacceptable). People don't hate Dailey Riddle, they don't like Rey. Bo Katan has always been a fan favorite character, some people just don't like how she kinda relegated the main character to a background character. Mando honestly should have ended in season 2 and he could have made cameos across othe series.
The problem is that the valid complaints get drowned out by the psychopaths on either side of the fence. Whether they are screaming “THE LAST JEDI IS THE BEST STAR WARS MOVIE AND I WILL HEAR NO CRITICISM” or they are screaming “THE PROBLEM IS THAT STAR WARS WENT WOKE, WE NEED LESS WOMEN AND BLACK PEOPLE”. And those two camps get all the attention while rational debate dies underneath the noise.
@@CrowTRobot And Disney (Kennedy) makes a point to stir it up whenever possible because 2 irrational groups arguing make it easier for her to churn out crap and just blame the weirdos outside for when it fails. Disney shills don't help either, it's really annoying how they were praising Rise of Skywalker during the first few weeks and then later were like "that movie was a mess!"
This is basically one of the major companies that forced RU-vid to remove the dislike bar cause they couldn't actually stand seeing people giving any kind of feedback that wasn't "We give money to consume product and await future product".
Figures.. Everyone is hating on the Lizzo&Jack Black cameo. Like Star Wars hasn't had cameos before. I don't care too much for them so I didn't really care tbh.
I didn’t hate the overall episode but Lizzo, Jack Black & Christopher Lloyd took me out of it. So much of this episode had felt like any generic Sci-Fi show. I know the overall story is the taking back of Mandalore, but it’s taken way to damn long to get there
I love Katee Sackoff, I love Katee Sackoff in space stuff, I love Star Wars, the idea of Katee Sackoff in Star Wars should be the best thing e ever to me, but ever since mid way threw episode three, I’ve decided to be on a Star Wars break… I just don’t know where we’re going
This is great though, because I had no interest in book of Boba Fett, and went back to watch Mandalorian season 3 and found that they went and put some of the key story moments into another show. So I was a bit put off, and was initially gearing up to finally watching Boba Fett, but now I don't think I'll bother. They've no clue what the hell they're doing
Not all fans, just the fans that are of the basement dwelling neckbeard variety. This episode wasn’t the best but the ending of the episode was cathartic for true fans
Disney is going to milk Grogu as long as they can. There are scenes in Season 3 where he joins Din in dangerous flight combat instead of staying at the camp. Doing nothing and just to look cute on the camera.
Star wars has way too much Pandering for me too sit through and enjoy it 💀So focused on pandering and it doesn’t feel the same Disney ruined the star wars universe
As one of the very many someones who disliked the sequel trilogy, I really hope this doesn't go forward in any way. I personally don't have any problems with 'celebrity cameos', but this past episode it was probably too long of one, at least for Lizzo and Jack Black ('Doc Brown' has been an actor all his life, so I can forgive that). Disney+ Star Wars has had a habit of putting in quick Celeb Cameos from those celebrities who are simply fans of the franchise, and want to be in it in any way (like Daniel Craig did with the Stormtrooper in 'Force Awakens').
