I'm just starting my sustainable fashion journey and I'm still trying to educate myself on shopping more sustainably and making the transition from fast fashion, so this was super helpful! I'm definitely going to pay more attention to what materials my clothes are made of.

Love hearing that! Smaller sustainable brands like Zero Waste Daniel (NYC based) I think is a good place to start, a bigger brands that offers sustainable options I would say look at Patagonia. Definitely shopping second hand / thrifting I think is also a great resource! Stay tuned for some other videos on what places to shop at ;)

if we deny buying clothes from bad factories, doenst it make it worse a work for workers there (prob if brand starts making less money it will affect people salary. and in the end we help to make job for those people even worst in case they gonna be paid less and work more (cuz brand no ethical and ppl stopped buying there gatments)

Good on you to consider the workers👍. Now the local subsidiaries of most big labels in Asia and the Middle East pay their workers as little as they can get away with already, it is actually why many of them choose these locations. And you're right, the workers generally have nowhere else to go, or they would not work knowing, for example, that any fire would most likely burn them alive (as happens on occasion due to lax building codes/supervision). But this means that we have to force the big labels on top to commit to and uphold some standards, which can be done by deciding against buying their stuff for humanitarian and environmental reasons/investing in better fashion etc. Not all prices are on the price-tag.

From what I've learned, yes sometimes garment workers really only have this as their only job opportunity and they have to take it to support their family. However I think as consumers, we have to put the pressure on brands. People at the top of these companies are benefiting / making all the money, while the workers are still suffering or barely making minimum wage.

That's giving away the sauce as a upcoming brand you can't just give away your manufacturers
@thesustainabilityenthusiast
I think it goes back to how the current fashion system is set up with a capitalist mindset, where you're always trying to out-do your competitors. I wonder what the fashion world would look like if it was more of an open source approach, where people can share their most sustainable manufacturers and solutions with each other. I think slowing down and sharing solutions is the alternative approach to the fashion system!
