Love to see a video on primarily Black denominations such as AME, House of Jacob, African Israelites, Nation of Yewah, etc. I know you can do these factually and professionally comparing them as you have compared other denominations.
Not sure if this is in your specific area, but an interesting movement you could consider is churches that are entirely based online, like Lux Digital Church and God Squad Church, two churches that operate as churches and aim themselves primarily to video gamers. Would be an interesting subject to look into since it seems like those churches may be at the start of a new movement (not sure if that's an accurate depiction but your call).
There are all kinds of ideas there about video games that use gospel stories as their online adventure. Miracle points. Casting Out Demon points. Winning Converts points....
I used to attend an ARC church. They all follow the same formula and rarely preach a full gospel. The formula is "Ted talk" eisigesis preaching. Always a big tithe push and they likely bring in Robert Morris to talk about it. Very limited sin talk and they all speak at each other's churches. Most also are a husband and wife "pastor" team and many pastors don't have formal training or education.
Adam Magaña of Active Church in San Luis Obispo, California is the biggest conman in the ARC. A real life narcissistic psychopath, and he knows it. Unbelievable scam artist his whole life.
*"The formula is 'Ted Talk' eisigesis preaching."* Yours is the exact comment I was searching for in this thread. You summed up the ARC position perfectly. I find it interesting how their statement of faith is positioned perfectly so you can't argue with it. It's very solid. But when you listen to the body of their teachings, they do not reflect the statement of faith at all. Essentially, these are NAR churches. I attended Foursquare and Assemblies of God churches for the better part of 30 years, and have watched both denominations slide down a very similar path, which is why I left. Since then, I will never attend a Pentecostal/Charismatic church, or a church that "co-pastored" by a husband and wife. It's totally unbiblical, and helps a church slide into deception. That said, if you'll pardon my hypocrisy for a moment - I now attend a non-denominational church which is heavily influenced by Calvary Chapel (a historically *charismatic* denomination). In fact, the Pastor is ordained Calvary Chapel, and teaches in the "through-the-Bible," expository vein ("a la Chuck Smith," if you will). Weekly teachings very much include the subject of sin, and the actual GOSPEL is taught every single service. We get the "hell fire and brimstone" every week, right alongside the message of grace and salvation. The subject of tithing only comes up when it comes up in the text we're studying, and we are told very plainly that tithing is NOT a requirement under the New Covenant, and that anything we choose to give to the church should be settled in our hearts between the Lord and ourselves. When the subject of tithing/giving does come up, it's usually prefaced by something like, "Our coffers are full, the church *does not* need your money." We're also told very flatly that our church does not ever employ or ordain female Pastors or Deacons, because the Bible does not support such church polity. You should see the look of relief come over womens' faces. Men are men and women are women at our church, both are kept separate, both are edified in their design and calling - as a result, we have a very strong church full of men and women who are equipped to raise strong families, and go out into our community and preach the gospel, both with our actions AND our words. Equally important, we get taught how to rightly-divide the Word of Truth. Sure, our Pastor is not perfect. No Pastor is. But he's teaching the Word, as well as how to interpret it. Praise Jesus for churches who are a light in a dark sea of bad teaching and theology.
I actually attend an ARC church plant in Cincinnati, Ohio. ARC has way too many churches to look up details about all of them, so it was cool getting to listen about our bigger ministry partners. ARC churches definitely tend to be a little more charismatic. I think it's a southern thing. I've been to many churches in my lifetime and there isn't much charisma up north without southern influence. Haha
Personally, I think these guys have gone nuts. Once again, you made a home run, Joshua. Your commitment to rigourous research and exposal of each denomination's tenets is remarking.
Actually, they are not as nuts as you think. I went to one in Charlotte many years ago and they are pretty solid in their beliefs. Their practice as a church is a little haphazard though. 😆
Robert Morris of Gateway is one of, if not the primary, overseer of ARC. That kinda tells you all you need to know about the overarching goal. He is the posterchild for predatory preaching on tithing/giving.

Seeing that some arc churches are affiliated with denominational bodies as well makes me think of congregations that are affiliated with two or more denominations (e.g. Episcopal and ELCA, or UMC and UCC).
Giving to the ministry of the church is and should be a free will gift to support the families in need not to support the leaders life stile. These churches are not under the law that set up tithing it is not part of the New Testament scripture and understanding the tithe of the Old Testament is not what is done today
I attended Seacoast Church in Mt Pleasant, SC (along with several other area campuses) for over 10 years. It got too big for me. Its kind of a tourist destination for anyone who has heard of ARC or Brandon Lake, who grew up there and still is part of the worship team.
Yes. The spotlights and dramatic stage lighting, the loud, sensational, contemporary show, and the socking it to the emotions are all turn-offs. We must come out from among that, and be separate, and He will receive us, in the best 2 Corinthians 6: 17-18 way.
@@ChrisJones-ij3xp Chris, it's important that we read scripture in context - For whom it was written to, and what it was about. These scriptures are not referring to snappy Christian worship music. 😒

1:08 I don't know if it has anything to this denomination, but there's a church in Taylor and Old Forge Pennsylvania, I think they went by the name "Our Father's House" for awhile. The one in Old Forge was originally known as Word Fellowship, now they're known as Triboro Community Church.
I live in the Birmingham area where Church of the Highlands started and you can pretty much just package Highlands College in with Church of the Highlands. It is tied directly to the church.
I used to go to COH when I was starting out my christian journey, No shade to them, but they just don't teach the full gospel there like most people who go to that church is lukewarm at best, even the people on the dream team and other teams there. Even people on the prayer team is very iffy at times. They would finish praying then talk about listening to like Mariah Carey/Boy 2 Men and not the semi-ok ones, like the ones with highly sexual themes. A lot of my friends still go to COH and I follow them on social media and their lives are not ones that are constient with the teachings of the Bible. Like goes to Vegas, drinking , and partying, dressing in very provocative ways, cursing, and fornication. If you asked them anything about the Bible, they wouldn't know a single scripture besides the most famous ones like Psalms 23 or John 3:16. Plus, every service is like concert with smoke machines, lights, sounds and all that jazz. So you're not even listening to the actual word because you too focused on all of the things happening around you at the same time. If your'e a new christian and you are trying to find your way and learn more about the God you want to serve, that's not the church to go to. Your'e just going to be another face in the crowd and finding friends there is really hard because everyone is so cliquish when your'e actually trying to be more involved with the church like the teams there. If you're looking to actually learn, I suggest going to churches that where you can actually get to know the Pastor there, like smaller-mid size churches. If your'e in a smallerish church, you're not just a face in the crowd, everyone knows your name and will pray for you when you need prayer. You can actually go and talk to the Pastor. Man, you can actually hang out with the Pastor like my church actually goes on trips together and restaurants and we are all one big family. I can go on about finding a really good church where people know your name and one where you can actually be involved in. The whole point of this paragraph is to say just because it's popular doesn't mean that it's popular because of the right reasons, sometimes it's popular because it's comfortable and no one to actually hold you accountable to make sure your on the right path and being a Christian contray to popular belief isn't always going to be comfortable if your doing it the right way.
It works, most old churches are being turned into night clubs anyway. Found a retired church built in 1890 that I would love to turn into a goth themed club.
Sounds nice, if they focus on teaching everything Jesus talked about - well, that would be a good thing for Jesus ! The Way of Love, Almighty Yahshuah Blessings be Upon Them.

I go to an ARC Church. The music is contemporary, but they also sing traditional hymns as well. It is theologically sound. They do not compromise and have no new age aspects. God bless!
@@ChrisJones-ij3xp I go to an Arc Church. Just because a church doesn't look like what you're used to doesn't mean it's wrong. Churches around the world look different from churches in the United States. The early church looked very different from church today. Besides, We are the Church. Not a building, but God's people. Let's not start acting like the Pharisees. I don't believe it's wise to use such a broad brush. Blessings😊
@Maxon Mendel This is the definition of new-age Christianity according to Pew research "But many Christians also hold what are sometimes characterized as “New Age” beliefs - including belief in reincarnation, astrology, psychics and the presence of spiritual energy in physical objects like mountains or trees." ...So yes, I can indeed say there are NO aspects of new age present. The ARC Church I go to holds to ALL core Christian doctrines. There is no new age "vibe." It's call contemporary Christian music.
Can you provide a video on tithing? From what I understand, lots of churches hold fast to the position that tithing is 10 per cent of income and should be donated to the local church (a position held by one of the local arc churches. Steven Furtick has played a key role in the promotion and growth of arc churches along with Robert Morris.) Thank you for your videos.
@@Peoplesrepublicoffortnite ok, do we see the irony in using JOB as a way to discredit money? Just kidding, and yes, prosperity religion is just about as evil as it gets and can never be justified except in the church of the almighty dollar! (and we know who the CEO is of that blood bank).
Yes. Robert Morris is/was an apostolic elder of Church of the Highlands and has spoken there on a few occasions. It isn't as in your face as say a Kenneth Copeland style but it is being taught.
One more clarification. Chris Hodges doesn't come out and peach it. As a matter of fact he tries to download the prosperity gospel specifically. But you will find it there. Sometimes in just subtle hints. More so with guests that speak that will directly preach it.
The Random Action Verb churches. Definitely the group that stresses me out, especially with that retreat center for disgraced pastors to hide from the media.
I'm sorry Evangelicals, but you guys seriously need to get better at naming churches lol. "Liquid Church" sounds like some Christian energy drink grift

These various protestant churches in the USA give me a headache. It is all nuts and I am sure not even the various congregations really know what they believe.
Does anyone know of any group in the US that would be willing to help a disabled guy get a relationship? I have a bad immune system and don't go anywhere. In my home state of WA, they are very averse to even discussing helping people find a partner.
I don't know why my comments keep disappearing, but I mentioned reaching out to Father Michael Tervo at St Sophia Orthodox Church. He might be able to help you in your circumstances. I too live in Washington, but not very close to Bellingham. God be with you, dear brother.
I have completely given up on brick and mortar churches. I find them empty and superficial. I read scripture and listen to a few pastors on line . I am very very selective who I listen to.
“If you're a Christian, you can't lose your SALVATION... Once you call on Christ for salvation you are FOREVER SAFE in the grip of his GRACE and can enjoy eternal security." This is not precisely Reformed theology, which teaches that God will never rescind his election of a person to salvation. As the gospels teach (Matthew 13:1-23, Mark 4:1-20, Luke 8:4-15), there are many who accept the good news but later fall away. Thus this statement is a bit misleading.
The problem with how arc started is desire. The foundations of the church, christianity, faith, is not based upon desire, but on Lord Jesus Christ alone. Desire and those involved in the desire way of energy, divine, spiritual, occult, manifesting and the list goes on, is founded upon lust, coveting. Even if it was about God's desire, that always disappears because of need, it is still not what he uses to build upon or create lasting foundtions with. Anything or anyone that uses desire in that way, ends up meeting Lord Jesus Christ who died on the Cross and will have to make the choice of dying to self and those selfish desires that come with a hidden undealt agenda. Who went out and met the need and dealt with the unmet need. Need will always replace desire, because of the corruption of selfish lust, masquerading as a pure desire, majority of people's desires even if they have a dream, or want to do something that seems right, good and true, or are motivated by it, its not a genuine foundation to build upon. Just because its a movement, network or gathering, networking, fellowship doesn't mean its not meant to have foundations. Desire is not a foundation that God uses to build upon. Deception builds upon desire, because the desire in the earth, is greed, pride, lust, coveting and the list goes on. These people hurt, harmed, injured, and the list goes on, at the expense of everyone else. Its not on. Not meeting unmet needs while fulfilling the lust and desires of those that should not have that met, is a not negotiable, because of what it brings into this earth. Helping one people group while ignoring everyone else, sets up for a journey into inequality. Either the members are equal and also get the help they need, or they don't and are not equal. Which means these people still fulfilling the bible scripture, the gentiles seek to lord it over others, it shall not be so among you....and this is what this network does, lords it over others and they don't care when they do. They have and everyone else has not.
Come home to the fullness of the Church of Christ, instituted by him through the Sacrament of his Body and Blood. Long live the successors of the Apostles.
You’re obviously talking about the Orthodox Church. I am a member of an Antiochian Orthodox church. Our church was established by Jesus Christ through His apostles at Antioch (in modern day Turkey) in the book of Acts. Protestant churches like the Church of Christ and these ARC churches do not have apostolic succession. We have had it continuously for 2,000 years.
When you have no real doctrines, you can bring in as many people as possible with "iNsPiRaTiOnAl mEsSaGeS", dancing, and funky tunes... thus making more money.
Find Sunday morning church where you learn something too boring? Come to our "meetings"! It's basically a pop concert with some inspirational blather thrown in, so you can tell everyone you're religious!
Have you ever been to an ARC church? I'm just saying that assumptions probably shouldn't be made about brothers and sisters in Christ until you've gotten to know them better. God bless.

I give them 3 years! Maybe. The only reason for this collaboration is money. Just like failing companies, weak and unable to sustain themselves alone, they have joined to share money within the clergy that will amount to more than on their own. If you doubt me? Look into how the individual congregations have dwindled! Also watch how the smaller entities change their style of worship to suffice the larger ones. It could be a good thing for the short haul, 3 years.
The same was said about Elevation Church, a multi-site church in Charlotte, NC, which began around 2005. Though I don't attend, they are filling a void.
@@schs1977 great point. Thanks. Elevation now has 20 congregations but only one leader with no clear replacement if furtick ever stepped down. The individual churches now all capitulate to the greater. So all the pastors will become the ARC in 3 (guessing)years and will become sidenotes when all is done and said. Yup, comes down to the moola.
Heyo! I’m actually a Youth Pastor at an ARC Church, and have been been for about 3 years now! (At a church not mentioned in this video) I also have some experience with a denominational role. ARC is essentially a church planting group, and more aligns as a “non profit” than it does a “ministry group” or “denomination. It’s been going for a while now, and honestly it’s pretty cool that God allows me to be connected with them. (Although I do find similar results from serving with a denominational church). What really sets ARC apart from a denomination is the lack of high council, we don’t have a general council nor do we have a voting process nor do we have a specific superintendent or president. ARC simply allows pastors to plant churches with a certain structure across the world and then allow the pastors to decide where they’d like to go from there. (Why there are ARC churches who are denominational and not). ARC is and has been alive and thriving, though! 😊
@@joshuasmith6557 so either harvest was misleading and incomplete or I failed to grasp what he was relaying. It's probably better that it's nodenominational just in the fact that so many singular churches are imploding. Everyone seems to to be boycotting Satan's worldly evils that are speedily creeping into our lives and this ideal is permeating into the most structured of churches. Hopefully, by not having a directorial council, people will have a member guarded sanctuary that can't be strong armed by a few who value silver and adoration above the gospel. If this ARC is a good thing?, then work very hard to keep it on the straight path.👍
@@joshuasmith6557 who decides how much to give to what church plant? How do they decide which plants will be pursued and which will not? How are clergy assigned over newly planted churches? Just curious as someone coming from the Reformed tradition.
It’s sad. I lived about a block away from a couple of these churches. One of them was “planted” in a very nice, big building. But attendance must not have been what they expected, because after about a year they had to turn half of the building into a party lounge for kid’s birthday parties.
