NGL As soon as you said "I promise you, you are not going to use this. You will never use this" I knew I had to stop you in your certainty and split it in two. If I wanted a Bentley key for my Volkswagen, I would indeed be soldering those 4 pesky wires and charging to do so!
The KM100 actually has a small reminder alarm when you have the VCI plugged in. It will continuously beep at you once you exit out to the main menu which is a nice feature. The VCI firmware was 1.20, and the most recent version as of today is version 1.24. This is a very good, convenient, IMMO/Key programmer. I just added a second key to our 06 Acura TL it was easy, just ordered the blade type flip open key, had the key blade cut (not IMMO programmed) at my local locksmith. Then ran the Add key steps. It was simple. There's also instructions in the KM100 to add the remote to allow all the buttons to function (lock/unlock/trunk/panic). These are separate steps from programming the Add key for the IMMO, and you don't need to do them all at once.
Hi, Great video, Love how you explained everything. I would like to see what you recommend, I want to start programming keys ( not business) for side job, at least for now. Do you recommend this or something like a topdon/im508S/OTTOFIX? ( just genral cars not luxury)I would like to do some light diagnostics since I do some car repairs. Asso, how much can I charge if I'm just beginning my services. Thank you.
I use this to program keys on marketplace I charge $80 for one key, or $120 for 2 I don't provide the key. They buy it themselves and come for programming
I have the KM100. I've spoken with Autel technical several times. Once I remembered to ask about the e and x, and what they designate. He stated the KM100 was made for the north American market and told me I didn't want the (e) model. I didn't inquire about the (x). He also stated they were identical in hardware and software. Another Autel tech rep said the straight KM100, no suffixes, was sold by retailers which provide technical support, locksmith suppliers, etc. Thanks!
Ford key programming is confusing 🤔 you said you need 2 keys to program the 3rd, so how could you program the 2nd while you have 1 key only? If it's feasible, why don't you program their key the same way you did for the 2nd key 🤷🏻♂️
Ford programming with this module works with zero keys. It supports all keys lost If you have 2 keys you can program more for free without a programmer.
I just bought a 2021 ford and needed 2 things, 2 extra keys and a ODB2 reader. For the price dealers and locksmiths were charging for 2 keys, I was able to buy an ODB2 unit that also programs keys, seeing how I have never messed with any programmers, Just curious about how the one you are using would compare to what I bought, and that is The 2024 XTOOL IP819. So far I have programmed 2 flip out keys for the 2021 Transit and 2 keys for a 2013 F150. And it can wipe out the extra sets of remotes that the car lot said they did not have, which was 3 more, as the reader said it had 4 programmed in the system and they said they only had 1? Plus, I can also read, clear codes and adjust many items of the vehicle.
the KM100 is very picky on the generic keys. They really do not like it you are using them and keep referring to their own keys who are triple in price.
IM508 is a diagnostic tool that also does key programming. If your only purpose is program keys then the KM100 is what you want. If you want to run diagnostics on cars and SOMETIMES program keys then the IM508 is for you. I have a larger diagnostic tool that also does key programming. its more clunky, and take a lot more time to get into the key programming menus
Excellent video with explanation. Now got a question. I got a Pontiac G8. Years ago, i got 2 set of Advanced keys systems. Those 2 keys are breaking down now. I got additional new style keys from Advanced keys systems which are not programed. Can I program 2nd custom keys to match the 1st set of custom keys or do i need the original OEM keys to program new custom keys? Thanking in advance.
You can copy and clone a key. I'm not sure if you can back one up. You don't really need to though, this supports all keys lost as well. So you can always make a factory new key
What is the main differences between the KM 100 and the IM608? I already own an Autel Maxisys Ultra. Is the IM608 needed if I already have the Ultra? Thank You
Thanks for the video. Will this work on Chrysler vehicles like a 12 town and country where they just have the square block and non"cut" key? Will it also program win modules?
Thanks for the detailed explanation and unboxing. I just got a Nissan X-Trail 2017 from Japan and it came with just one 3-button key. I'm a tech guy, so naturally I was considering purchasing this tool to program a second key to work with it. There's also a market in my country for smart key programmers, so I'm thinking that I can get into the market and make some dough as well. Most of the vehicles here are imported from Japan...mainly Toyota and Nissan, with a tiny minority coming from Europe (MG, BMW, Mercedes) Would this: a) Be able to program a second key for my car? b) Be a sensible business tool in my new venture?
Probbaly just need to wait a year. Then this will get an update to support the newest vehicles. In some cases it already works even though its not listed
Will this tool allow me to pair transponder keys to my 2013 Nissan Sentra? I have another tool that supposedly does this (SBB PRO2) but it tells me I need a PIN code, and I am stumped at this step. It seems there used to be some free PIN code calculators floating around, but not anymore. My device does give me a 5-digit alphanumeric BCM code (AD409) after connecting to the car, but I am only able to enter numbers when it asks for the PIN, so I must be missing a step?
You can buy the pin code which will convert it for you. This tool will decide the pin automatically and program the key. I have the sbb as well as the ck100. Both need an extra service for the pin code to work. Ones like this can grab the pin on their own and also work for other brands that also have pin codes
@@GearsAndTech I really hope they don’t as well but I have been doing some research and there is several websites and Reddit pages talking about how there will be an update in the coming days in wich users will have to have a NASTF VSP ID to be able to even use the scan tool to perform stuff like add keys or all keys lost wich is the feature that I need
@@GearsAndTech i really hope to get you’re feedback on this as I really want to purchase the KM100 but after reading all these articles about people receiving emails saying they should apply for a NASTF VSP ID to no have any interruptions when the update does come out
From what I read on Amazon, KM100 is the tool that needs internet connection when doing key programming. KM100X, on the other hand, does not need internet connection. I'm still confused, though. By the way, according to the description for KM100 on Autel website, there is 1 year free software update. Thank you for the information about the Autel KM100!
I made a new RU-vid with my business email and was looking into key programmers and you have such a great video you became the first channel i subscribed to. So thank you
Now I’m wondering if mine is not working right I’ve had it for about two weeks. I love it but when I plug it into the OBD2 dongle, I thought it was strange that it does not charge the device as well. I have to charge it with the supplied cable plugged into a USB or the Outlet. Maybe it was my 2013 F150 that would not allow it to charge the KM 100 I’ll have to check it on another vehicle
What about older early 2000 cars like Audi/VW that you still use the cut key in the ignition and not push button start? Will this tool work to program immobilizer/transponder chip?
How do u figure it won't provide thieves with everything to drive off in my car? From what I read, have saw of stolen cars(various makes&models also) along with if u live in an area where car theft has gotten bad and a older individual whom worked their ass off for their vehicle(not to mention the cost of new vehicles) u tend to pay attention or at least I do so I can attempt to make it harder for them. Also being older I have a newspaper subscription yes yes I know someone who still reads news papers. All that said and all my preventative measures to not lose a 80k vehicle I tend to pay attention, I've saw photos of this exact device with a gun, some weed, cash and spare key fobs along with photo of suspects who were arrested either with or in an attempt of stolen vehicle. Autel and local parts store who use to sell it either told or states it's an all keys lost programming tool, also I can't understand why crooks would spend 500+ for it unless they were idiot first timers which I highly doubt. So could u please explain to me how or why this isn't a tool a thief could bust/pull window out/climb in/connect and delete all keys then program one of the many fobs he's Carry's with him to program to my car. Whether he's in it 5 or 15 minutes IDC if he's capable of doing this and starting then leaving. I'm not being a smart ass or disrespectful by any means I'm in business not automotive but I'm also a realist and reckonize what ppl lurk in this world and unfortunately bc those ppl I typically don't trust anyone period especially online and RU-vid bc most of the videos I see posted now days are false and lies!(To me a liar is on same level as a predator then right below is a thief) I'll keep thoughts of how they should be delt with to my self but for my safety and possibly a more peaceful sleep if your actually educated on automotive things I'd greatly appreciate any truths or whys. Thank u very much if I'm correct and we'll ...... Then I'll assume no response from u means I've educated myself properly and short of takings laws into my own hands did everything I can.
@davidwoodard1538 I think his point is that it's a tool and the thief needs to make the decision to steal. But yeah I'm pretty certain these have changed the game... basically back to the 90s without immobilisers.
