I've used Maya, Houdini, 3dsMax, Zbrush Blender, 3dCoat over 3 years. Blender does 80% of what the others do combined, if you add HardOps, boxcutter, machinetools addons, you have software that is enough for 90% of users at very little cost.
@@SajidAli-td3dx I have been testing 3d software for a time. I think Blender with HardOps /Box cutter, mesh machine, machine tools addons does what the others do. Maya just has nicer animation tools, but that's about it
I agree with the fact that Maya is currently in the industry standard when it comes to games and some movies (most large movie studios use their in house softwares) however you do realise that the majority of people watching my videos are essentially hobbyists and freelancers who need a software which is easy to use/learn and can do all the things they want in one package. When it comes to UI, it is entirely subjective as I personally think Maya is way too over complicated in almost every aspect compared to Blender. That, combined with Blender’s ever growing community make it, imo, the best software to learn currently for freelancers. And once you know the fundamentals of 3D, the knowledge carries over to pretty much all softwares in case you decide to switch.
@@smashedlegends I stared learning 3d using Maya LT, I like the UI. But bugs like faceting in Unity or Unreal Engine if you moved the pivot point using d, then exporting. Which were unknown to the devs until I posted on the forums is a huge issue to me. A bug where you could not select bones to create an IK chain unless you turned off pivot point in the viewport, show a lack of quality control and attention to detail or even worse they knew of the bugs and pushed the update anyway. Just read the forums and you can see the frustration with 3ds Max and Maya.
You got it so wrong with Cinema 4d, It is one of the most popular industry standard software been used by big studios for decades...Spider man3, Avengers Endgame, Furious 7 are just some recent examples...
Blender is Free. Blender courses are 10 times cheaper than other softwares. Blender's community is humble & helpful. Blender is evolving & can do everything.
I can tell you the best software as an ex ILM and Weta staff is Unreal Engine 5.4 for realtime then... Blender is vastly superior to Maya, although Maya is used extensively in the film industry for modeling and animation. Zbrush is also very capable for sculpting creatures and digi doubles. Houdini, Solaris and Karma is the boss of lighting with Katana second. Houdini is the boss of FX. Substance painter and mari is used for texturing. Nuke is used for compositing. Davinci Resolve for colour grading. 3D studio Max is excellent for Architectural Visualisation and Games. Arnold, Renderman 26 and Karma are all amazing for rendering. Understanding not only DCC asset creation but also USD and Solaris is important for future 3D graphics because it allows you to create giant huge scene with fast loading and efficient rendering.

UE will crash on my laptop if it switches from internal to discrete or other way around. Set laptop to use only 1 using Nvidia control. Also turn off Nvidia battery optimizer.
Houdini has HDA's which are unique. Very useful for game dev where you need assets that can be quickly changed in certain ways. Also great for creating terrains and auto scattering assets.

I am an interior designer. I work on 3ds max vray. Sir please tell me Blender or Cinema 4D, which one should I do? I still do Lumion too. Please tell what is the difference between Blender and Cinema 4D. Do they do both modeling and rendering or just render? Is this my job Sir? That's why asking, why I keep making animation, videos.
Corona is preety much the standard for archviz. So I'd go for c4d+corona for stills. And I'd look at Unrealengine for Animation and walkthrough. As the render time will be much faster then lumion at a much higher quality. But then again that's just my workflow.

Blender is not better than Maya. Not even close. The only people that thinks that way are the hobbyists and people that don’t have the budget to invest in Maya. About the upgrade in Maya, the professional industry has to move slow to not mess with the pipelines and to everything fit well everywhere. See Apple for example. Every iPhone is “more of the same” but it’s the way it should be. Blender is a mess. If professionals used Blender 3.5 in a feature film, after the film was done, the version 6 existed already. The professions want and need slow steps with clean and professional updates. Blender is a mess and I have a lot of experience in both programs. Blender UI is horrible with so many sections and has a lot of bloat. Maya only needs to be the best in Modeling and rigging/Animation. That’s it. Because it’s inserted in a pipeline. No one cares about Maya sculpting for example. You have ZBrush for that. Blender do everything but it’s not good at anything. It’s a mess. It’s like the Android of the smartphones.

IMHO Houdini is the best DCC for VFX and CFX at this time, 3DCoat is the best content creation tool, again, IMHO, these two put together are easily the best combo and will give any freelancer all the tools they will ever need for their work, at a very low price, and yes, they beat Blender hands down in every possible way and are well worth the little money they may cost each month!
