One of the cons for the mai tai could also be a pro in some instances - you said you can't take the baby out without taking the wrap off, but you could use that to your advantage in social situations where you don't want people passing your baby around or being held by too many different people

Just wanted to say I used the k’tan with my first daughter (based the size on my shirt size) and I was able to use comfortably from birth to almost two years old. I found it stretched with their wait but the extra sash allowed you to tighten it as you needed. So it’s sized more for the fit on you then the baby, and I found it a great option, especially on the go.

This is by far the best video I’ve seen on this subject - I wish it existed a year ago when I was trying to figure all this out! I loved baby wearing. Boba was my choice for stretchy wrap and structured carrier. My friend did a bunch of their photography, so she introduced me to them. I also loved my woven wraps. They’re so supportive and beautiful. I still have one even though my youngest is 8! I just can’t quite give it away.

First time mom here! Thanks for the video and explanations! Very helpful. The only other thing though, that struck me is the babies inability to be put down without screaming his head off when he's not being worn. That's freaking me out a bit. I think I'll do more research before I decide to do the whole wearing the baby thing! Thanks for sharing!

Comprehensive video and I appreciated the pros/cons. Will recommend this video to anyone interested in wraps. My wife and I have a six week old and we purchased a bjorn, but we’re interesting in something more comfortable/snug/lightweight. I think the knit wrap is what we’re looking for.

Wish I had baby wraps when my babies were babies. I also like the way you also gave safety tips . Back in my day all we had was infant seats and I would carry it room to room of my home because as long as my children could see me they seemed to be more comfortable. Wish I had the wraps . If we did have them in the 70's , I wasn't aware of it. Thank you for sharing

I'm on my 3rd baby and have wrapped with each one. I've found that I love a knit wrap until they are confidently holding their head up to look around, then I like the linen ring slings and as soon as I can back carry, those Girasol woven wraps are amazing 😍 so many awesome baby wearing options for parents

Thank you for the video! The options out there these days for baby wearing are a bit overwhelming, so this is helpful. I’m at 33 weeks with my first so haven’t been to actually try any out yet so trying to research as much as I can in the meantime. I currently have a Boba wrap (glad to see this one is your favorite!) and a couple different structured carriers I got 2nd hand, but would like to also be able to try a woven wrap and sling wrap when they’re born, too. I did kind of wish this video covered structured carriers and sling wraps, as well. Perhaps for a part II video!

This is such an informative video!! Wish it would’ve been around when I had my first. I picked the K’tan, and was able to use the same size from birth-toddlerhood. It does technically say on their box/website that if you’re wearing the correct size, you should be able to use the same size regardless of baby’s size. Not sure if others experienced this in practice, and it could possibly be due to my daughter being a long and lean baby/toddler (22 lbs at 20 months old) but we loved it and had great success with it! My only desire would be to have it in a slightly stretchier fabric. Thanks for the great video!

I've tried so many wraps. Moby, Boba, Ring Sling and other structured carriers like the ergo. I've had two babies and they just don't like them. My babies much prefer being down. I so wanted carriers and wraps to work but I've had to give up. Just wanted to share for anyone in the same boat as me. Not all babies like being constantly held.

My $.02 as an ergo (original) mom of 6: ergo can do all the wovens and wrapps can do on front and back from birth to large toddler. They are easy to nurse in and once baby gets distracted it is easier to nurse in an ergo then not. Lastly an ergo is dad friendly!!!
@Ellibetta1
@Ellibetta1 4 года назад
An Ergo (at least older versions) is not the best choice for a newborn. In Germany babywearing consultants even recommend it only after the child can walk. Since it's too stiff on the back and the knee is not supported from back to back.

What do you use after the stretchy wraps are outgrown? I loved my moby wrap with my first baby but I couldn't use it too long before it became uncomfortable because I make chunky babies that outgrow stretchy wraps quick. I had an ergo carrier last time and HATED IT. It was so uncomfortable on my petite frame. I'm torn between a SSC like the Happy or a nice woven wrap. Because I really do love wrapping, just can't do the stretchy wraps long. Baby #2 is due soon and I have baby gift money to spend. I only want to buy one or the other, SSC or woven wrap, and am having the worse decision anxiety over it!

I’m late so I’m not sure I’ll get a response here but is there a reason that your first shown woven wrap style can’t be used with a knit wrap? By that I mean how the over the shoulder diagonal pieces went over the top of the horizontal stomach piece rather than tucking it in through the top. I hope that makes sense. That method of wrapping just seems easier but I like the knit wraps more so I wasn’t sure if using that method would be safe for baby?

Yes I used the baby k’tan for my first two kids as well as moby. The moby was great once I got the hang of it but it wasn’t good for out and about because the fabric was so long it was hard to do without it touching the ground and possibly getting dirty when in public. I am pregnant with my 3rd and it’s been a few years so I’m hoping to try a ring sling but have the trusty k’tans on hand if I decide that works better.

I am pregnant with my second baby and I have a toddler, I didn't do too much babywearing with my now 20-month-old because I was intimidated by the wrap types- we have Moby, sling, baby bjorn, and an ergo baby but I feel ready to try babywearing on our little guy (due May 2020). I’ve noticed when you have Daniel tucked in he is often looking towards your left shoulder. Do you need to be sure he spends time the other way for his neck and shoulder flexibility? I’ve never worn a baby before but I imagine it’s valuable for them to experience a variety of positions as long as they are safe.

My daughter was born 30 May. I loved the solly for the first 3 months. It is expensive, especially taking into account they don't carry a heavier baby. However, it was sooo perfect for summmer months. Me and baby were never too hot and I just wore it all the time during the day. I just didn't buy a second solly purely for price (I'd wash it at night and it would be dry in the morning). From 4 months old until now I've using the boba and loving it.

I love my baby k’tan, I wish it was a bit more stretchier because I am on the heavier side, but I was able to put my baby girl in it up until about 8 months

Myworldof ASMR AGREED! I travelled across Europe carrying my two year old in the K’Tan:) And the size is based on Mother, not Baby. Hopefully she tries it again with older baby:)

Hi Lisa, happy new year ! What a lovely way to snuggle and bond with your baby! I found my baby snuggler with my third baby! She’s now 21 and her younger brother will both graduate college this spring! Oh how I miss those snuggle days. Ahh grandkids( from my oldest son) yeah more snuggles. 😀🍼👍

Thanks for the review! When looking at the Boba options on their website there are different materials offered (French terry cotton, organic cotton, serenity version). Do you know which one yours is or whether the material makes any difference in comfort/stretch? Thanks!

I really like that you promote babywearing, since it is the best you can do for your child to wear it close to you! I understand that you love knit wraps with newborns, but in my opinion woven wraps are better for your back and the support of your child's back after they reach a certain weight. I personally think the woven wrap is not as comfortable to you, because you don't wrap it carefully enough. It is very important to tighten strand by strand and that the child sits symmetrically. Also the legs should hang freely (please do research about this, it's not good for the legs to be tucked into the wrap or Mei Tai, that's why good Mei Tais let you adjust the width of the seat). With the woven wrap it's also possible to wear newborns on the back. Actually it's good to wear a baby on your back after it is about 3-4 months old, since it's the time where they want to see more and the weight gets higher. Our body is just not made to carry those weights in the front, since it is not good for our pelvic floor. I think it would be good if you consulted a baby wearing consultant to make another video with updates and more reliable information about ergonomic baby wearing. Sorry if I sound harsh, I normally really love your videos, but as a babywearing consultant, this topic is so important to me and I'm afraid that a lot of people will not carry their baby's right or not at all because it's not comfortable to them. And that would be too sad, so thank you for promoting babywearing I think your doing a good job, just those few things would be important to know for other parents.

In addition to what you said, in my country it's considered a no-go to wear the baby in the front while it's not facing the carrying person. It always seems so common in english speaking countrys especialy within the US. My own legs and hips just hurt while watching it.
