I use what they use in commercial kitchens: stainless steel scrubbers! I use them more lightly on non-stick surfaces. I haven't had any problems. They clean up well, do a great job quickly and last forever. Sponges harbour germs! I use sponges where they do the best job only.

Not sure if these are only available in Canada but the "World's Best Pot Scrubber" is remarkable. Rugged and abrasive but safe on non-stick. If I recall correctly it's made from recycled plastic bottles (could be wrong). I think made in eastern europe somewhere.

I'm so glad to see that the scrub daddy was a loser. I will try the O Cedar. After the episode on shark tank of them accusing the scrubbie duplicating the logo of the scrub daddy I was done with the show and the product. The scrub daddy looks very similar to soft scrub which had been out for decades. Anyway happy to see the results. Thanks for posting!

Not surprised the o'cedar came out on top. From what's available right now, it's my choice. But what I miss are the sponges that have a sponge material that doesn't compress as much (similar to the sponge material on a car washing sponge). That way, they hold more soapy bubbles, so you are apt to use less soap. Those are harder to find right now.

I personally love my Scrub Daddy! What they didn't cover was how long it lasts. What they also didn't cover is bacteria build up. You know, that stinky smell you get after a short period of time?! My Scrub Daddy keeps going and going and going. It resists bacteria and does not hold on to food particles. I'll never go back to anything else. No, I don't receive compensation of any kind, for saying this. Just really love my Scrub Daddy and Scrub Mommy. 😃

I grew up with terrible cellulose sponges but I've been using the non-cellulose sponges (blue wavy one) since their incarnation around the early 2000s iirc. I SWEAR by them and am shocked at how hard they remain to find in stores despite being so superior to their cellulose competition, which so many seem stubborn to "modernize" away from because it's not what they've used most of their lives. My roommates in particular are so weird, they would rather use a cellulose sponge or even just a washcloth, both of which STINK up the entire kitchen and your hands within a day or two of use and possess inferior absorbency, scrubbing properties and become hard, brittle and compressed as well as fall apart over time. The non-cellulose sponges smell neutral after even a month of use and scrub and absorb so well it's night and day. Plus they hold their shape indefinitely and don't become all stiff and crunchy when they're dry. Even on this ATK video, I was skeptical they would pay attention to these points and I am sad to say my suspicions were confirmed. Oh well, no one's perfect but hopefully one day the masses will catch on and cellulose sponges will finally go the way of the dinosaur...

i dont know if she was being sarcastic or not but it really was more important than alot of other items they have done. i love and will watch everyone of these. but a kitchen sponge is something 75%+ ppl use every day. i will never be able to afford a $125 knife or a $200 blender. but i use my walmart knock off kitchen sponge 3-5 times a day. and when it cant or shouldn't be in the kitchen anymore it goes to the bathroom or out in the garage for the guys to use on the outdoor furniture or wheels. i wish they would do the dawn power wash. i have some, husband wanted to try it, i have found i dont use it. i just have a sponge filled with suds and dawn run hot water and tada clean plate. but i think we are just in the habit of doing it that way. i have used it once and it was nice. maybe i am just old and set in my ways. same with my Walmart knock off kitchen sponge...

My mom used the OCedar Scrunge decades ago, and said it doesn't last as long as the 3M ScotchBrite. Chances are that the longevity and durability has changed over that period of time. However, she's the type of person who thinks that if her first time experience with a brand is bad, then that brand will never improve and will forever be trash; like her experience with Cuisinart (but that's because she only bought their crappy products rather than their excellent ones).

You can use a fine chainmail scrubber rather than a sponge in most cases. The fine chainmail scrubber works much better with less effort and is far more sanitary and easy to clean. It will also last you a lifetime. They are also great for cleaning glasses. Just drop the chainmail in your glass and swirl it around. Check into it !

I bought the scrub daddy and wasn't impressed - too soft when warm and wasn't able to scrub well, wasn't able to compress well enough when cold (where you need to scrub but want a little contouring) and held onto greases and oils too much - I personally grew up on Dobie sponges and they are OK but I use the Scotchbrite one all the way to the left mainly - I found a killer deal a few years back (24 for $10.50) and I'm still going through them 4 years later - they hold up well enough and can usually go for a few months if they get rinsed really well after use

Sponges have always disgusted me. A nylon bristled brush (with white bristles) has been my go-to for years and years. I have never felt the need for a sponge. The brush can be cleaned easily, and the white bristles make it easy to see any gunk stuck down inside. It can be ‘banged’ on the side of the sink (like you do with your toothbrush to get the excess water out when done) and anything stuck down inside will come out. Also, they don’t hold onto water and dry out quickly to keep the nasty smells away, and deter mold.

Eliminating anything that can’t be used with non-stick cookwear was a mistake IMHO. Most of the pans and tools you use in the kitchen are not that sensitive and you lose a lot of scrubbing power and time. Cleaning a burned pan with non-stick compatible sponges is a chore but relatively easy with normal ones. You can use their soft side for the sensitive non-stick surfaces.
@WastrelWay

I don't use a sponge AT ALL. A sponge always slowly accumulates food waste and dirt and starts to smell. They are hard to wash out and dry. Then you throw it away. I use a plastic scrubber for washing dishes. Because it has a loose structure, you can easily wash it out and it will air-dry. It will last for months, gradually losing its shape but remain useful. For general cleaning, I got a bag of red rags at the auto parts store. You get about 15 rags for $5. They have excess red dye that needs to be washed out. When they are dirty, they go in the washing machine with the kitchen towels. For really tough jobs, I have a scrubber that is copper wool with a plastic handle.

The reason that they have two copies of the video is that one of them is a test to update if this sponge is still the leader amongst new sponges that enter the market. Like if it’s outdated.
