As I age I have shifted my focus to the walking cane. You have been a great help with that. Thank You. I only know you through these vids but I believe you a genuinely a good man.

If you are looking for another social media platform, you might consider MeWe. They don't censor the way that Facebook does. I've posted some of your videos there, and no one has ever complained. Sometimes, when I can't do what I wanted to do in terms of training, I find something that I can do. If the swinging clubs are too much, I do the same stuff with the broom handles (kali sticks). If I can't do ten minutes, I do five minutes or two minutes. Sometimes, I can go longer than I thought once I get going. When I can't go longer than I thought, I have to adjust to accept that two minutes is better than zero minutes.

I have a 5th degree black in hapkido-- and I don't remember spinning a cane. (but then- that getting mashed between those 2 trucks wiped out a LOT of memories-).. but it just doesn't look very effective to me-- a little timing and they could easily attack when it's on the backswing.. (like other things).. NOT saying it dosen't work- just curious as to HOW well--- because it doesn't LOOK effective at all.

Thanks David. Hapkido Cane is not taught in every school from my experience the teachers of Hapkido. And the Hapkido Cane style is more about blocks and take downs and doesn’t really use a lot of the spinning. I only teach the spins for warm-up and strengthening and time and distance exercises but don’t recommend it for self-defense. Most effective strike in my opinion, is the thrust or in a two headed strike using the cane like you would a riot baton or a pugil stick/rifle and bayonet.

@@pasquinilli aGREED- an dyou're right on the hapkido-- best I can recall- which is little-- but I've seen thrusts CAUGHT by guys that are fast and strong.. so nothing is for certain.. ha. :)

funny part of a past video where he talks about a cane being legal to take the court because he couldn't go in there with his Han bow. Made me chuckle.
