Something a little different today guys but I hope some of you find some value in it as I get questions on shoe care all the time! We're approaching 200k so like this comment if you want me to do another live Q&A! Remember if you need any shoe care just visit the shop, cheers! www.tringshoerepairs.com/
Hi! Sorry to bother you, but can you please share any advise how to deal with painful shoes? Sometimes the shoe is simply uncomfortable, sometimes we choose wrong shape for our feet or wrong size, the heel too high...some of us have really sensitive feet and skin is so easily damaged (my case, i always buy full size bigger shoes and still, even flip flops cause bleeding sores) - if there is anything you can recommend in order to make shoes softer inside it would be so much appreciated. Cheers!
Thanks Dan, I a disabled British War Pensioner and "bulling boots" was a part of my life for many years. There's lots of Myths and Fakes to bulling your boots including using Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Lacquer. But many years ago I saw the Royal Marines Band touch up their boots with Saphir Médaille d'Or Mirror Gloss Neutral, a Selvyt Polishing Cloth and Water. What had taken me hours upon hours to achieve, they achieved in seconds and their boots looked better than mine. I relied on the build up of the Kiwi Parade Gloss but it chipped and flaked very easily, the Saphir gave a better mirror finish with a couple of coats and would flex slightly without cracking and flaking off. Life changing moment! 😂😂😂 I rate Saphir as the top of the shoe polish tree! 👍👍✌✊
I always got Kiwi drummed into me as being the best but not parade gloss as it had more paraffin in it which could shine easier but was not as long lasting ans more delicate etc. I always stuck with regular Kiwi. Maybe better stuff out there but always reluctant to try something else.
I came across your channel when RU-vid suggested it to me. So - I ended up watching 7 videos in the last 12 hours! OMG! 😱 All the vids are highly addictive and lovely. Dan, I so admired your skill, competence and charm. I don't know how you find the time to do all that you have to pack into a day. I mean you do the usual work, send out packages, have a meal and break, interact with customers live and by email, and get to the gym. That's a whole lot. Do you watch TV, watch Netflix, meet up with friends? I wanna see more of your lifestyle. I and others can learn so much from how you manage it all. 💓🙏
Dan, Matthew Reynolds from Clemmons, NC, USA. I have really enjoyed watching your videos for several months now. I bought one of your Saphir kits awhile back and it has made a huge difference on my shoe care routine. Humble thanks for all your hard work on making your videos for folks around the world to watch. Continued success, my brother from across the pond. Cheers!!!
Parade Gloss was my favourite for many years - still is one of my go-to options - but Saphir has been my standard since my national service two decades ago. It’s good stuff.
I'm glad to hear of another Saphir stockist...fantastic products...I use them on my Church's, Corthay's, Meccarriellos and the more modestly priced Yeossals and TLB's...they ALL benefit from these great products and learning how to use them properly...cleaning shoes is very very therapeutic...😁
So; order placed for pack and received super quick…(3 days!!!) followed the vid tutorial and the results were…. Phenomenal. I LOVE caring for my shoes and apart from this amazing dude making me feel normal (for being excited about shoe care) following his instruction was perfect! Hence the delay in the review. Thanks for the product fella. My shoes are cleaner from clean town and look elegant…. Without being too shiny. Next order for additional items pending. Cheers Fella!!
Just placed an order. Have been hoping you would go through this process, as I just got my 1st pair of quality leather soles shoes, and am very green when it comes to shoe care. I love all of your videos, and appreciate all hard work you put into your shop and your channel, keep up the great work!
Great video Dan. Guidance on maintaining shoes and boots, and using the right products is such a help - as it can be confusing with the range of products available. Knowing the right cleaning/conditioning/proofing approach for different leathers and how to best protect and maintain them is something many of us haven't been shown, and ensures we get the most from our footwear in the long run. Great job!
Ohhhhhh Dan, my parcel of Shoe Care Products arrived on Monday. my goodness but WOW my footwear has never been so nourished and so clean and so shiny ! To think all these years I had bought any old polish in the supermarket. The difference is incredible, the deep lustrous sheen on my evening dress shoes is astonishing. ( my wife joked that I had better not stand too close to any ladies wearing a skirt for fear of being accused of looking upskirts via the reflection on my shoes ! ) I was not amused, but that is by the by, I really just wanted to thank you for sending my order so promptly, £380 well spent in my opinion as I now feel confident I can attend to any kind of shoe cleansing emergency. Many thanks for the Thank you card you sent with the order. I didn't know you were a keen swimmer but my goodness that picture of you in the Speedos left nothing to the imagination. P.S I was wondering if you could recommend a flip flop reviver creme ? I have a pair that I have had a long time and are of great sentimental value to me but it has to to be acknowledged they are beginning to look a bit tired. If you feel like they may benefit from your personal attention please let me know and I will send them via recorded delivery to your shop. It would be fantastic if you could resole them but I will bow to your expertise as to whether that is possible. Just like when you repaired my daughters favourite dolls white shoes the cost is not an issue and it really was service above and beyond anything we have experienced before when you took the trouble of delivering them yourself after you had completed the repairs. Mrs Trevors our cook and the Nanny said you enjoyed your sandwich and glass of milk in the servants hall so thats good. We were sorry not to have met you ourselves but we were halfway through a game of Canasta with The Dowager Duchess of Sunderland and she hates being kept waiting. Our very best wishes to you and thank you once again.
Just been listening to the Jerimiah song on the radio. How weird that you sang it too. Now it's going to be stuck in my head all day. Thanks Dan. 😊 Great video. Can't beat a little bit of Dubbin. Xx
Great vid that both entertaining and educational and something a little different 👍👏. Glad you started selling quality gear that we can buy and use at home i ordered mine last year and have been extremely happy with the results..the wife's never been so happy 😂
thanks for taking the time to upload your videos, i enjoy them all very much, it helps with my mental health as well as its quite soothing watching the vids.....
Hi Dan, I have recently discovered Saphir products and I am in the process of removing years old polish from all my shoes and giving them the full Saphir treatment. So far just two pairs done. I cannot begin to tell you how pleased I am with the result. However I had great trouble sourcing everything I wanted and had to go different sites to get it all. It seems to me that you stock the whole range. In fact you were the only stockist of Mirror Gloss I found. I reckon you got a new regular customer.
I've been using Sapphire for a couple of years now. I can vouch for its quality and the results. I have the best kept and shiniest leather walking boots in Dorset.! I'm going to put you on go to list for products.
Dan that video was exactly what I requested and if I inspired you to make this one you are much appreciated for it. Think ill give that mink oil a go on my boots so look out for my order for some , unfortunately still got some dubin in but when I run out I'll know right where to go for it . Thanks again Dan
Good video! It might be different in different countries, but in the US, there are a number of products that have "mink oil" in their name, but if you look carefully, it's really something like "mink oil blend" and in reality, the main ingredient is something else, like neatsfoot oil, which isn't a terrible product for leather, but it's much more oily than it is a grease, and, if it's not carefully refined, it has an off odor, sort of like industrial gelatin, that I'm not fond of for anything outside of rustic things, like Western horse riding tack, And since I don't ride horses, I have very little need for it.
Hi Dan❤️. I’ve watched some of your videos😊 and let me say is different because I normally watch videos of cooking or traveling. I don’t even know how I came across with your channel 😂😂. I LOVE YOUR BUBBLY PERSONALITY. YOU MAKE ME LAUGH YOU ARE FUNNY 😁 KEEP BEING ADORABLE AND BUBBLY AND I WILL KEEP WATCHING AND WAITING FOR NEW ONES. ❤️👍
I wish I was in the UK. I would send my shoes to you. You work is excellent and it is clear that you love your work! Also you remind me of one of my favorite actors, Henry Caville.
HI Dan much luv all the way from Montreal Canada.....love the passion and joy you have for your work it is amazing to watch!! was just curious have you ever wanted to build your own shoe from scratch? with all your knowledge you have i bet you would be able to design and build such a beautiful shoe :)!
@@Dan_the_cobbler i totally understand lol but just know i think you would be awesome at it if ever you tried one day as a hobby :)! and thanks for writing back really awesome how you connect with your fan base :)! hope nothing but more success for you! I was wondering if i could get your opinion on a shoe...…..for my work (postal warehouse) i usually walk about 15 to 20 km a night and I can't seem to find a steel toe shoe/boot that can last more then just a few months! would you have any recommendations on a good quality steel toe shoe/boot?
Dan ... can you give us some care tips on Alligator skin shoe/boot care? I have some nice Gaziano & Girling Chelseys in Alligator and want them to last a lifetime... Saphir Renovetour? Shoe cream? Wax? all of them?
Having used a jar of Renovateur over the last couple of years, on many different shoes, I would suggest testing it first of all on an inconspicuous area as, despite the "liquid gold" marketing fluff, it will affect some more delicate finishes on your shoes. I had this happen to a couple of pairs where it made them a bit streaky (out of over 20 pairs I tried it on). I would also add that these were not crust leather AFAIK but leather dyed at the tannery. I did not have this happen with any other conditioners I have been trying including other Saphir products or their sister company's Tarrago products though I will add that I was not carrying out controlled testing, so some other conditioners might also have affected them.
Wonderful video! With shipping across the seas being the way it is in today's craziness, do you have any suggestions for a shoe repair shop of your quality in the United States or the best way to find one?
If your going to buy the shoe trees, spare the expense for the cedar. I bought two piars of trees for my Boost 350's (cloth), but they are always dry and smell wonderful. Shoes cost too much to not treat them with the best care you can afford. Thanks for the post Dan, great as always pal!
I get a mirror polish using Lincoln shoe polish on my duty boots. Larger pores. Rougher leather. Takes me about 45 mins to get both boots parade ready.
Awesome video Dan! You know what I'd love? I'd love to get advice on what nice leather shoes that you'd recommend. You know, instead of going to Next all the time.
I have an old pair of Winebreaer work brogan that were sat in the attic over a year here in Georgia USA. It hardened the leather pretty severely. What is my best option for softening up the leather again. I have tried saddle soap a few times to no avail.
