Confederates wouldn't have flown any version of an an American flag. They literally went to war against the union.... The all black American flag was popularized by artist jasper johns in the mid 50's, and people give meaning to it how they feel and that's perfectly fine.

historically the black flag has been a symbol for “no quarter” meaning that those bearing the flag would simply eliminate all enemy soldiers rather than taking prisoners. the blacked out american flag however, does not represent anything other than poor taste and unfortunate financial decisions

Did not first appear during the civil war. It actually first appeared in the 90’s by an artist who made American flags all black and then people crossed the meaning of no quarters pirate flags and this.

The Black American flag originated in the 60's. Just a few days after the civil war ended(sarcasam). It is meaning no quarter given. No mercy to the enemy and will not take prisoners. So if someone tries to break into my home they will be dealt with accordingly. In other words, FAFO. It does not mean I will be leaving the house and hunting people down. I hope to God I never have to defend my loved ones or property in such a way, but if you play stupid games, you will win stupid prizes. Just saying.

The black flag doesn't mean no surrender what it really means is no quarters given meaning that when the opposing side would fly the white flag the winning side would raise this flag to tell them no prisoners will be taken it's a fight to the last man the only time this flag was flown is when the winning side didn't have the means to take care of the wounded or feed the prisoners

I don’t fly it upside down, I don’t wear it, color it another color, put a blue stripe or black stripe on it p, tear it, nor conduct an insurrection with it or let it touch the ground. It dates back further back. It means all POW will not be returned and will be killed instead. Usually POW would be traded back to their side for a quarter of their yearly pay. That's why is called the no quarter flag.

@@RevengeOfTheApocalypse the Gadsden flag is telling the government not to tread upon our rights unless they want to get “bit” Politicians aren’t the ones confiscating firearms, no knock warrants, red flag laws, or forcing unconstitutional laws upon you. Law enforcement are the ones who do this. They are the ones who tread. Just as the redcoats treaded in the past. Not all redcoats were bad people, yet they all enforced those laws and willingly took that place. Also I recognize that some officers will stand up against those laws, however they will be replaced with someone who will enforce it. They have to feed their families, this is their way of doing it.

Meaning they know how importin it is to have one? @@MoonFlux I don’t think you understand how many LEOs will give in. Most enforce unconstitutional laws already and don’t really think anything about it because they’ve become desensitized. Also, this is most likely the way they get food in their kids bellies. In reality, they are going to enforce laws to keep their job rather than loose that. And I partially understand and sympathize for that reason. Another thing that gets overlooked is how there’s always people willing to enforce these laws. Even if a lot of law enforcement stood up against it, they would be replaced. The whole situation is terrible, but it’s a reality that’s going to happen. Americans vs Americans for all separate reasons.

I don't believe you are telling us the full story here. Yes, it means no surrender. That means fight to the death. It also means no quarter will be expected or given. These were people that were looking to kill "perceived" enemies. Are you willing to kill perceived enemies that are your fellow citizens? I am a white woman. My neighbor just hung up one of these flags a few weeks ago. He is a creepy, abusive freak. I, & my daughter, have gotten creep vibes from him for a long time. He even walked out the door once and said: they're all gonna die. loud enough to make sure I heard. He has threatened me with a gun. He abuses his gf. The black flag was used by Confederate soldiers to show there would be No Quarter given to the Free Black Union Troops encountered in battle during the siege of Vicksburg. The battle was for the supply depot at Millikends Bend that was protected by Black Union Troops.

Nicely done presentation. However what's ironic about the black American flag's history is that even though it was used by confederates during the civil war to signify "no surrendering", they did in fact surrender nonetheless on April 9th, 1865 to prevent further unnecessary destruction to the south, etc. The U.S civil war had taken too much of a toll on the former confederacy.

Such a nice looking flag. I wanted to get an all black flag or black and white flag about 4 years ago to represent a broken America but they clearly mean the opposite. I wish there was a USA flag that expresses what I wanted

Major Correction: The 50 star U.S. Flag was ordered by then Pres. Eisenhower on Aug. 21, 1959, & adopted on July 1960. The 50 Star U.S. Flag was never blackened and when it does because you ordered it online as such as it fits into the imagination of those who've proven modern-era Insurrectionist [or as noted "Seditionist" such as the Confederate Army]. It goes against U.S. Flag protocol. The Black Flag you noted was flown by the Irregular (Non-Standard) Confederate Army from 1861-1865. Btw, in your post, you noted it meant "No Surrender"; however, didn't the Confederate Army do just that, "Surrender".

The 45 star flag became official in 1896 and the 48 star flag became official in 1912 and the 13 star in 1777 but history does not record a black American flag only a black pirate flag. Check your facts
