I love this new regime of receivers. It's a receiver core by committee. I think it's more beneficial to have 3 or more number 2s than a number 1. Coupled with the run first approach puts fear in a defensive coordinator. Great move Brandon beane!!!

Coleman is going to end up at his career peak being a mid tier wr at best. I'd say a consistent 600-700 yard guy. Maybe hits 1k once in his career. But usually peeks around 750. He has height, hands, yada yada. But he has the speed of TE, and a weak route runner. If you all would've traded Knox then drafted this guy as a tight end, that'd have made more sense. Dudes another KB. I mean, of coarse I could be wrong, but anyone who's honest and not in homer mode can see it. And I'd bet the farm that I'm not wrong on this one. And this is coming from a guy who doesn't even play scratch offs. We shall see. Dude wont bust out of the league. But don't be surprised if he ends up on a team at some point in his career that makes him a TE. A wr 1-2, with that speed? Yeah, ppl point to Jerry rice and Larry Fitzgerald etc for low end speed. But not too many prospects are Jerry rices and Larry Fitzgeralds. Coleman is not some phenom prospect who has a whole arsenal to make up for what he lacks. I dont think the bills biggest mistake was letting KC draft worthy. It was drafting this guy. Letting KC get worthy was their second biggest. Ppl say KC was going to end up w Worthy anyway. Ok then, if that's the case then why did they move up to get him then? KC wouldn't have done that if they thought they would for sure get him. They saw something that made them move up. They moved up for a reason. I think the bills will have another good season. Lose again come playoff time and by year 3, your fanbase will be wanting Coleman out at the deadline. Maybe year 4 at latest. He'll finish out the last year of his rookie deal somewhere else. You all will be lucky to get a late 3 rounder for him at that time. That's my honest projection.

Joe could you explain gap scheme runs vs zone again. I just don’t recognize the difference.
@adamant5550
@adamant5550 3 месяца назад
Gap runs involve pulling an offensive lineman (in traditional power run blocking this is usually an interior offensive lineman, but the Bills often utilize a gap run called "Dart" where they pull the left tackle Dawkins). There is no pulling in zone runs, but instead each lineman has to block defenders in a specific area (i.e. "zone"); in something like a stretch or outside zone play this can involve the entire offensive line shifting their blocks to the right or left.
@LockedOnBills
@LockedOnBills 3 месяца назад
Gap schemes means there is a specific track the run is supposed to follow. The OL creates the gap for the RB to go through. Zone schemes mean the OL block a "zone" and the RB cuts off those blocks and there is no predetermined track.

Thurman Thomas in his best year had 669 yards on 60 receptions, and that was before the 90s SB run. I'm not sure Cook will get that many targets. Using too many short and screen passes, that increases the number of plays run and that increases the wear and tear on the O line. Hoping for q good mix.

With an offense that looks to spread out their passes, it would seem kind of hard to make predictions on who will get what for stats. A lot of unpredictable surprises last year for the Bills. Defenses also have a say. If someone came out and had an excellent first few games like Diggs last year, chances are pretty decent the other team will know to lock him down. Then Allen will be throwing elsewhere. The next big receiver, defenses probably target too. I'm sure Brady and Allen will be ramming it down opponents' throats to certain receivers at their weakest spots points which can vary between teams. Also is changing up passing to other receivers worth it if you are successful with your main guy(s) like vs the cowboys last year? All for the sake of letting everyone have receptions? I'm not answering that question.

Cook should never be asked to pass block (or run someone over for that matter). If he is in for a pass play, he should be running a route. If the expectation is the rush will get there, it should be a route ten yards downfield but outside or underneath the other receivers.
@tommcmasters8429
@tommcmasters8429 3 месяца назад
And Cook should be getting more passes10 to 20 yards downfield, be one of the 600 yard relievers (with a 25 yd per catch average) and make receiver 2 pay in his follow on contract.

I don't think Josh Allen is incapable of running screens. The bills have not had a lot of skill position players that were great at running screens either which has to be accounted for. I also think that has led to the screen game not being practiced much which will affect the office's ability to run it effectively.
@mazzvidz
@mazzvidz 3 месяца назад
The reason the Bills haven’t been a good screen team is because of Allen’s mobility and reluctance to work within the pocket. Defenses gameplan against Allen’s mobility by not rushing aggressively off the edges. Because of that, it is tough to get RB’s behind the defensive ends as they are not flying into the backfield, rather playing contain to keep Allen from escaping the pocket. The most successful screen plays have gone to WR… the best example of this was vs Seahawks in “21.

Allen went 1-7 against opponents that scored more than 21… the only win coming against the chargers. If Allen is going to have to win games cognitively or ( from the neck up) ….. it’s going to be a looooooong season. Dorsey deployed the same E.P. Offense that Daboll did. The system never changed and Dorsey was well versed in this system, not only from his time in Buffalo but also with Cam Newton in Carolina. Daboll learned this system in NE and McDermott identified this scheme as a fit for Allen, because it helps mask his weaknesses as far as getting the ball out on time or playing within structure. The issue wasn’t Dorsey… the only season that Allen played consistently well for the entirety of the season was 2020, the Covid year with no fans in the stands. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that when Buffalo made it to the playoffs that season and limited fans were allowed to attend games, Allen’s performance dropped off a cliff. The Baltimore divisional game and the KC AFC championship were mediocre performances from Allen. Every season since has been hit or miss with Josh. He has 4-6 games a year were he is the worst player on the field for either team. Judging by the statements made by Brady, McDermott and Beane… the system isn’t changing this year either. There may be some tweaks to the way it’s called or schemed based on player personnel, but I highly doubt we’re going to see Allen suddenly playing in time or making anticipatory throws. The reason that the Bills were so successful down the stretch last season is because they leaned heavily into the run game to limit Allen’s turnovers AND the addition of Douglas solidified the defense. I’ve said it 100 times and I’ll keep repeating. Including playoffs, Buffalo’s defense held eleven teams to 21 points or less and they went 11-0 in those games. Allen and the offense went 1-7 against teams that scored more than 21 points.
@Invader135
@Invader135 3 месяца назад
Nice cherrypicked stats on the Bills being 1-7 against teams that score 21 or more, that angle conveniently ignores the fact that in the post season the defense has given up an average of 33 pts in our four playoff loses with our lowest points given up during the span being 27pts. Since 2020, the Bills offense in the post season have averaged 27pts per game, while the defense has been giving up an average of 25pts For a comparison, the Bengals in their seven game playoff sample size from the last few year averaged offensively 23pts, while their defense only gives up an average of 19pts. Even the Chiefs defense since 2020 in the post season is only giving up an average of 22pts. Requiring 27 or more points in order to win in the postseason is a ridiculous ask, should be easier to ask your defense to not give up so many points when you have a defensive Guru at HC. The Bills defense has given up 27 pts or more in 5 of 9 playoff games since 2020, how about that for mediocre!
@mazzvidz
@mazzvidz 3 месяца назад
@@Invader135 That’s kinda broad and lacks context… How many points did Josh Allen score in the Texans wildcard loss? 0 How about the Baltimore divisional round? 7 The AFC championship vs the Chiefs? 1 TD in 3.5 quarters and another in garbage time when the game had already been decided. How many points did Allen hand to the Dolphins in the wildcard with his 2 interceptions and 2 fumbles, one of which was returned for a TD? 13 How many points did he score against Cincinnati in the divisional loss? 7 5 of 10 or half of Allen’s playoff performances he had a QBR below 60 Texans QBR 42.5 Ravens QBR 43.5 KC AFC championship QBR 52 Miami QBR 27.8 Bengals 57.6 In none of those games did Allen play well enough to win. The Bills did pull out a few of them, but only because the defense stepped up and won them. If your defense is on the field the entire game because your offense can’t score points… eventually the score is going to get run up on you.
@Invader135
@Invader135 3 месяца назад
@@mazzvidz More cherry picked stats lacking any context. He scored a TD (receiving td) against the Texans and lead them to 19 points, and was a bad holding call against Dawkins from getting in range for a lead. Against the Ravens he scored 7, and lead them to a FG to win a game where the opposing QB played worse. Against the Chiefs he did struggle, but so did the defense that gave up 42 points and forced only a single punt, and against the Dolphins despite errors, made enough plays to win. Using QBR is pointless without knowing who your comparing it against, and in the case of most of the examples you gave like Ravens, and Miami the other teams QBR was worse (and thats besides the point that QBR is a flawed metric). Show me the stat that shows that shows the defense giving up 27 or more points on defense in 5 of 10 playoff games is considered good. The point isnt to have spotless stats its to give your team a chance to win and Allen has done that more than the defense. Besides the Ravens game, the defense doesnt have any games of note since 2020 in the post season. The same way you can talk about 1 TD in 3.5 quarters against the Chiefs in the AFC Championship game, I can say the Bills defense didnt force a punt until 3.5 quarters against a underpowered Chiefs defense. Your arguments are completely biased against Allen an you never seem to criticize the defense at all, which is ultimately my point.

@@Invader135 The defense won the Miami game… 😂😂😂 Miami only scored 2 TD’s on offense, all their other points came from Allen… and it still took TWO defensive stands at the end of the game to come away with the win. Josh doesn't need to learn how to throw the screen because the Bills should never do it. 95% of the Bills pass plays should be balls thrown on a line usually 10 to 30 yards downfield sometimes 40. The rest should be lob bombs even though Josh doesn't throw them especially well either.

I like your show man, but you act like the bills is some innocent football team that deserves to win a super bowl

Josh's arm is to strong, like a hulk smash. Doesn't have the ability to throw a touch screen pass.

I am terrified if I’m a Bills fan from 2 quotes in this episode “it’s on Josh to be QB from the neck up for the 1st time in his career.” ITS YEAR 8!!! What are we talking about 😂 and “it’s on Josh to keep things on schedule and on time.” When has he ever proven he can do that! 😂

👆🏻 This. It’s only year 7 though but your point is valid. Allen isn’t the brightest bulb in the box. He’s been in the same E.P. Offensive system his entire career. He should be able to run it in his sleep by now.

No. Allen had a 37 Wonderlic, correlating to a very high IQ. Also, he was a great student. He's very bright.

@@jeffreybateman7314 A Wonderlic test is an IQ test in the same way that McDonalds is food. It doesn’t measure pattern recognition in the way that traditional IQ tests used by the US military does. It measures general cognitive abilities in math, vocabulary, reasoning and is multiple choice which opens the possibility of chance playing a role in the outcomes. However.. it is probable, perhaps even likely that Allen lacks maturity and wisdom and not cognitive ability. Would certainly explain his poor decision making on and off the field.

@mazzvidz You are entitled to your opinion of his decision-making on the field. If you have looked at his QBR since 2020, you'll see that he is top tier. As for your off-field comment, that seems personal.

@@jeffreybateman7314 Nothing personal… but when he’s getting so hammered at training camp ( by his own admission) that he requires oxygen and rehydration fluid to recover… 2 weeks before the opening game vs the Jets… I think it’s fair to call into question his priorities and decision making.

Diggs was the worst screen receiver I have ever seen. He was bad on the few they ran under Dorsey, Brady should have seen this and not run it so much. This crew by their physical nature should be better.

I always thought our screen limitations were scheme related, rather than personnel. Now I see where both are true. (I think missing out on the dude from the Commanders - who's name I now forget - sent those plans sideways.) I'm hopeful that new players, staff, and philosophy add up to a threat that the other teams will fear, rather than invite...

When was this Diggs offense? Diggs will be missed as much as Hill was missed in KC.

Oh boy.....lol Why do you guys compare your team to KC? It literally makes no sense at all. No to be combative, but come on now. Let's be real here....

The only time I see the Bills missing Diggs is against Miami. He had the Dolphins #. I appreciate all the productivity Diggs brought to our Bills for 3.5 years. I'm really wanting Josh to develop that clutch, when we need a first down reliability with Kincaid. If Josh/Dalton develop this, Diggs will be a forgotten man in Buffalo. If not, we'll be reminded by national media that Diggs was a veery important piece to Josh's success.

During a regular season game? I believe that is a fact. I recall one play designed for Isabella last season, but I think Josh overthrew him.
