Reckon a newcomer to FPV can learn in a SIM in say 20 hours or so the knack of flying in manual?

I can't wait to get mine and do some manual rips. I have to hand it to DJI though, even though im mostly Acro I still plan to have some fun with that motion stick too. To anyone concerned with flying manual, you can do it with practice! Simulators are very good and inexpensive. I am using the DJI FPV3 with DRL SIM on PC, and I don't even own the Avata 2 yet.

Ive never had a drone. Looking more into fpv. Whats the goggles 3 like? Is the resolution good and smooth enough to enjoy flying around for fun? I wanna use it both for fun and video recording so. Thanks!

I just got my RC3 today and got it working. I have a couple questions and maybe issues. I've heard that head tracking only works with motion controller! Boooooohoooooo! Crappy. Flying in manual with head tracking could really give us the opportunity to capture some really different and interesting videos! One example is here in Clearwater FL, there have been a lot of sightings of some black tip sharks just before sunset. Now could you imagine the precision flying while you are looking around for the shark. It would be like being up in a helicopter and looking around at the water to find a shark. How cool would that be with the drone with head tracking. I guess I'm going to have to use motion controller in that scenario. I'm probably going to want to be in normal or sport mode anyways for the stability. Don't get me wrong I love love love flying FPV. There's nothing like it, but there is a place for this drone. Number one you're not always under the gun while the drone is in the air. You can always pause the flight and change settings if needed. One thing I learned last night watching another RU-vid video was about the horizon steady! I didn't realize it had rock steady and horizon steady. It would have came in handy the other day I was flying on the beach and it was really windy. The drone was on a serious lean because of the wind. If I would have noticed the function of horizon steady, my video would have turned out much better. So in my opinion I think this drone will give us the opportunity to get different shots that I believe could be impossible to get with a true FPV drone even with the best pilot!

Is that MODE 2 on the sticks controller, the left stick is the throttle? New to FPV, standard is right stick is throttle on the DJI.
@loweflyer7778
@loweflyer7778 Месяц назад
I dont know if I would call right stick throttle standard. Every DJI drone Ive flown, from the mini series up to the matrice drones have been mode 2 by default. Maybe its a regional thing?
@JB-vh8qt
@JB-vh8qt Месяц назад
@@loweflyer7778 Thanks, maybe I'm confusing the terminology, right stick is pitch, move the drone forward/back and left /right. Left stick is up/down in height and rotation. What I'm trying to understand is, which stick movement do FPV flyers want the stick to not snap to the middle and want that stick loose. I think it is the left stick to move the drone up/down in height. Would that be correct? Absolute FPV newbie here who is trying to start with good habits early.
@loweflyer7778
@loweflyer7778 Месяц назад
@@JB-vh8qt oh yeah I think I understand. The stick on the left isn’t supposed to have a spring for the up-down axis. With mode 2, that is assigned the throttle (vertical axis on other drones). For FPV, generally you add more thrust and pitch the drone forward to gain speed.

it is cool cause you can go really fast but i honestly think the motion controller provides so much finer control in tight environments like that so you can actually fly faster in s than m
@AdamGoodwin
@AdamGoodwin Месяц назад
Far more agility with the FPV controller, you can't for example knife edge with the motion controller.
@thekiteboatparty3568
@thekiteboatparty3568 Месяц назад
what is a knife edge and can you prove this with close quarters video examples? what the fpv freestyle videos typically don’t show is how much they crash, when your drone costs 2k you don’t really want to crash, look my next quad will be a tough little carbon one with the O4 air uinit ;) but i think for the avata in this sort of place the motion controller is just easier to safely go fast with, the dji fpv controller just has way too short sticks too
@AdamGoodwin
@AdamGoodwin Месяц назад
@@thekiteboatparty3568 It's practically impossible to "fly to the moon" using the motion controller, as vertical ascent is extremely slow and must be controlled with the joystick. Performing a knife edge, where the quad is tilted at a 90° angle just before navigating through a gap, is impossible with the motion controller. I found the top speed with the motion controller was around 30mph, manual with the FPV controller 65mph+. I own seven DJI drones and several carbon fiber quads, five of which are equipped with DJI O3 Air units. My most expensive drone is the new iFlight Helion 10", which I use for long-range flights over mountains and costs about £850, though it's hard to find. You would only spend over £2,000 on high-powered cine-lifter quads, which typically carry an expensive mirrorless or DSLR camera. Most racing quads are built to endure rough handling and are priced in the lower hundreds, usually featuring analogue video transmission. If you opt for a digital setup, the DJI O3 air units are often the most costly part, about £200 each. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zraiGxtiDQQ.html

I think I know why they would say that. When using the motion controller the gimble moves up and down with the controller and makes everything look and feel smooth. While in manual their is no gimble movement unless you are manually changing it.
