Christ's doctrine is what He declares it is. It's so important to comprehend that Jesus even says "whoso shall declare more or less than this, and establish it for my doctrine, the same cometh of evil, and is not built upon my rock." What is the doctrine of Christ exactly? We'll dive into this topic and define what Jesus says His doctrine is, and how living this doctrine faithfully is the only way to "come unto Him" and obtain the gift of salvation in the kingdom of God.

This teaching is so clearly laid out with the scriptures you linked together. Thank you for making it easy to understand. Hopefully, more will dig in and believe what the scriptures say.

Hint: Enter into the fullness of His glory (intelligence) = Enter into the fullness of his light (Holy Ghost) and truth (Fire). The glory of God is intelligence, in other words light and truth. Another hint if you want it: the iron rod that leads to the tree of life is not a handrail. It is something else. Let me know if you want a scriptural reference.

IS this like the SAT where you need to get a certain grade to get into College/heaven. What if you, like me dont have the intellectual capacity to put this puzzle togeather I mean if your IQ is below eighty you are in trouble. How about works, how about giving all your wealth away and giving it to the poor or that whole story Jesus makes about not visiting him in jail or visiting him when he was sick or giving him clothing when he is cold or food when he is hungry and then he nails it down by saying if you do not do this for the least of men you do not do it for me. Hope I am not keeping someone from eternal life because they did not interpret scripture the right way.

Faith in Christ and repentance It’s really all that God has asked us to do (to get started) and all that he has asked servants to go out and teach. I think it’s pretty straightforward

Didn't say you had to UNDERSTAND all of these scriptures to be saved. You just have to DO what they say (obey God, that's it).

I think Joseph was pretty clear on the necessity of erecting temples so that we could make and keep sacred covenants. He went to a lot of trouble to make sure that happened. They did the same thing anciently, so if we think that temples are not needed we are going against what God has been showing his people throughout time, in my opinion. There are also many scriptures where he reserves his choicest blessings for those that enter his holy house.

Using the Old Testament gospel ad a proof for the need of temples is questionable. The Old Testament dealt with a people who had the lessor gospel and priesthood. Jesus came to fulfill this and build temples out of his followers. Jesus did not command a temple building, but for his followers to become tabernacles/dwelling placed of the Holy Ghost… The fact that Joseph attempted temples indicates to me that we had already been demoted to an Old Testament type of gospel and priesthood, which was, necessarily a preparatory gospel - not a fullness.

@@cab9191 You are forgetting that BEFORE Moses they had the fullness of the priesthood and many had the priesthood and temple ordinances, despite us not knowing how these people participated in temple ordinances. I am very sure that Adam, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Melchezidek (see JST Genesis 14:25-40) all had the fullness of the holy priesthood, I think. God does not change, and the need for temples seems to be important then, and now.

@@jimmckin333 where are ordered temple ordinances described pre-Moses? Where is this temple worship given a preeminent place in the worship of the Most High like we give it today? I’m pretty sure that any time the fullness is spoken of, the intent is and was always to receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost…. As the Book of Mormon repeatedly teaches, anything more or less than this is not His gospel. In my view, any outward ordinances that don’t have a teaching of how to receive the Holy Ghost in view is not of Him.

I agree with almost everything you have said about the Doctrine of Christ. There are many items in the Restored Gospel that are not part of the Doctrine of Christ. I know that in the scriptures the gospel and the Doctrine of Christ are often equated, and it makes sense since the Doctrine of Christ is so important and includes all of the ordinances that are required to return and be exalted with God (if you add the temple). There are also many items in the Plan of Salvation that are not part of the Doctrine of Christ. The New and Everlasting Covenant is not a Broken Heart and a Contrite Spirit - it does not say that in the scriptures. You keep calling all these things the New and Everlasting Covenant, but it is not in the text. Just because you say it is so, does not make it so.

Curious how you justify "adding the temple" when the scriptures don't give any leeway for it. They clearly say "this is the doctrine of Christ" and to not add anything to it.

If we reject the temple, we reject Christ. Baptism is a requirement for the Kingdom, Jesus was very clear on this. Woven throughout scripture, we see the need to be "kindred redeemers" of our dead. They need baptism to enter, just as we do!! The only place we can do their work, providing them the GATE via proxy, is in the temple. The sealing power which was restored through Elijah to Joseph Smith IS to "turn the hearts" to our kindred dead, being saviors on mount Zion and helping redeem them by using those keys to seal together ALL the house of Israel, by covenant. No work for our kindred dead can be done outside the temple! We cannot be lifted until ALL are given the opportunity to be lifted BY way of covenant. Period.

Moroni 8 paints a little different picture. Pay particular attention to verse 22 and 23. 22 For behold that all little children are alive in Christ, and also all they that are without the law. For the power of redemption cometh on all them that have no law; wherefore, he that is not condemned, or he that is under no condemnation, cannot repent; and unto such baptism availeth nothing- 23 But it is mockery before God, denying the mercies of Christ, and the power of his Holy Spirit, and putting trust in dead works. If what is being said here is correct, it's possible that baptisms for the dead are not necessary.

@@freesaints Since the time of Christ, baptism for the dead has been practiced. I don't think Moroni 8 is enough to consider this a useless practice. Hugh Hibley has a done a lot of research on the practices around this during the first three centuries AD.
