What is the first rule of falconry? 

Our #1 Rule is similar to yours - Never forget that she is a wild animal and that she will never not be wild. No matter how sweet and accepting she (our FHH) seems to be of us, she has a wild nature and instinct will prevail over our training every time when things are not exactly as we'd have them. Athena was v distracting (in a good way) lol. One rule i always like to follow. Always maintain good practice with hygiene. Remembering its raw meat we are handling and we dont want to pass anything to our birds or ourselves. I think this rule is often a hidden one. Theres lots of mini rules i givr myself when handling birds of prey but i think thats because im always fearful of the eventuality of when a bird may fly in the opposite direction.

Hummm, mines the same as yours as my birds a nibbler as well.
