Golden Ring is a set of ancient Russian cities north-east of Moscow which form a circle if you look at them on the map. In this video I would like to tell you about the golden Ring of Russia. I think that many of you have heard this name, but not many people know what it means. And some practical info for tourists:)
To get to Sergiev Posad by train: Trains start almost every 30 minutes from Moscow's Yaroslavskiy Rail Terminal (Ярославский вокзал) to Sergiev Posad. Yaroslavskiy Rail Terminal is near metro station "Komsomolskaya" (Комсомольская) (red line).
Сheck the train schedule here www.tutu.ru/
Train schedule 2016 www.tutu.ru/rasp.php?st1=20000...
A one-way ticket to Sergiev Posad is 164 rubles.
If to go by bus - Bus 388 is available at VDNKh (ВДНХ) every 15 minutes. However, be aware of jams:)
To get to Sergiev Posad by car take Yaroslavskoye highway - distance is 70km (40 miles).
Golden Ring is a set of ancient Russian cities north-east of Moscow which form a circle if you look at them on the map. The author of the term "Golden Ring" is Yuri Bychkov. He was a soviet journalist and a writer. And the idea of the circular route belongs to him. In the middle of the last century (to be more particular in 1967) he published in the newspaper "Soviet Culture" a few articles on the ancient cities under the general heading of "Golden Ring". Later this name was given to the now world-famous tourist route.
The 'classical' route starts from Moscow goes through Sergiev Posad, Pereslavl-Zalesskiy, Rostov Velikiy, Yaroslavl, Kostroma, Suzdal and Vladimir. All the cities and towns are located relatively close to each other, so from one place you can reach to another and make a circle. So you start from Moscow and come back to Moscow.
Moscow and St Petersburg are, of course, the main attractions in Russia, but if you really want to see a true Russian life and how the most of country lives, make an effort to travel to at least couple of the cities in the Golden Ring. You can see old architecture and churches which were built prior to Mongol rule.
If you only have 1 day off, then I suggest you go to Sergiev Posad. If you have a few free days then I would recommend you to go to Pereslavl-Zalesskiy, Vladimir, and Suzdal'

If I ever visit Russia..I would visit The Golden Ring of Russia. I would also stay for about three to four weeks. The history, culture and unbelievable beautiful churches are just amazing. We in America need to visit all these magnificant works of art. We appreciate Russian's rich culture and love your poetry.

All these names are "familiar" to me: "Zolotoe Koltso", "Vladimir", "Suzdal", "Ivanovo", "Palekh". In the late 1990s, I was very fond of the English Language. I always read English books in order to improve my English. At the End of the 1990s I got fond of the Russian Language too. I wanted to learn about the Russian Language but - at the same time - I wanted to continue practicing my English. So I decided to buy myself a Russian Grammar Book *written in English* (as you know, I am Italian). I (Italian) was studying Russian, in English. As I said, I bought myself a "Teach Yourself" Russian Grammar Book. And in this book I first read about "Zolotoe Koltso", "Vladimir" and "Suzdal"... A few years later, I visited Russia. Some friends of mine lived in a small village called "Shuja". As I decided to go to visit them, they told me: "You must take the bus to *Ivanovo* . Once you are in Ivanovo, you must take the bus to *Palekh* and then you get out at Shuja".

Different Russia Do you know what ? During the travel from Moscow to Ivanovo, while I was observing the landscape out of the bus window, I thought: "this part of landscape has something that reminds me of the landscape of Tuscany (the Region of Florence) or the northern part of Lazio (the Region of Rome)". Sure enough, it is odd to find - in *Russia* - something similar to Central Italy (like Tuscany and Lazio). Look: that part of Russian was to me *not similar* to Northern Italy (where I come from) but to *Central Italy* ! That's probably due to the fact that Northern Italy is a flat low plain whereas Central Italy has some Hills like Russia, between Moscow and Ivanovo...

In Russia, Tarkovsky is perceived as an anti-Russian artist. Like Turgenev, Saltykov-Shchedrin or the artist Ivanov. Russian piople is like Bondarchuk elder and other Stalins artists (but the creative intelligentsia will not agree).

When you drive around it reminds me of America. I am generally speaking of the Pacific Northwest which is a Northern region. I describe that region because it's Northern climate leads it to look somewhat like yours. There is some cultural difference in your architecture, but the road architecture is very similar.

Hi Valerie, Marsello here, from Indonesia. i am planning to visit Russia (Moscow and SPB) on early April 2017, for 2 weeks. And I have a questions about my visit... when i applied my visa paper in Jakarta (Indonesia). i didn't registered Sergiyev Posad and Vladimir into the list of the city that i wanted to visit in Russia. i only registered Moscow and SPB.... Becoz the invitation letter (from Avex Tur) required me to stay overnight in Sergiyev Posad and Vladimir. while i know and realized, these cities can be reached in half day tour (as i am planning to take the train as you have mentioned on your video) --- Well, if i keep going to these cities, is any problems with the security ? i am totally worried if i get problems with them :( Sergiyev Posad and Vladimir look soooo beautiful. becoz i like churches, old buildings, architectures, and details. I will definitely dissapointed to my self if i can't go there
@differentrussia.
@differentrussia. 7 лет назад
These cities are quite safe to visit. But do not show on the train that you have an expensive phone or camera with you. This can attract the attention of bad people. But in general, as elsewhere.... Be careful, do not walk alone late at night. Near Vladimir there is a nice town Suzdal (Суздаль) I advise you to go there:)
@RenggaThe
@RenggaThe 7 лет назад
hiii, good morning, доброе утро, thank you very much for your quick response and all advise are Saved. i am planning to stay about 7D6N in Moscow -- anyway, i am very concerned about Vladimir, i am not sure if i have enough time to go there by train. but i will try. becoz it is located quiet far away from Moscow with a very limited schedule train from and to Vladimir.... Sergiyev Posad is the opposite. it's much easier to get there.
