Wow! That is so interesting. I think I felt this wrapping up over the stomach when doing a treatment to someone. I suspected that she had cancer because there was this 'mass' as she called it over this area. I told her to see a doctor and she was told she has cancer. Very interesting.

Simply adorable you are and that cute kitty too! ;-) Such a cuddly visual considering that our greater omentums might not necessarily look like a cute kitty but because you offer it as such, we are influenced by your suggestion and therefore potentially persuaded to love ourselves just a little more because we actually do have a cuddly organ, right here, protecting our entire viscera 🤯.So, this morning I was teaching how our identities are linked to our health meaning how we think about ourselves affects our physiology. Watching your video, it seems to me that you have, in + or - 6 minutes, taught my 45-minute class with your prolific approach to teaching. A Master is a Master is a Master. Much respect and love for you xo

24 lymph nodes removed on the left side but I feel like I''m carrying lymphatic fluid in my belly too, can the omentum swell like my left arm? So I will continue with expanding the ribs on the right side so that there is more room for the Omentum to comfort my gall bladder and phrenic nerve.
@somanaut
@somanaut Год назад
Know doubt your greater omentum will happily comfort your gall bladder, but it can't quite reach your phrenic nerve which supplies the diaphragm from the thoracic rather than the abdominal side of the diaphragm, but it CAN comfort the organs supplied by your vagus nerve, which indeed passes sensory information from your gallbladder back to your brain! Happy exploring Hans!

You feel like a soulmate Gil! What a wonderfull explanation of the greater omentum. Since waching this video, it serms like it has a live from it's own, like a "mother" inside❤️ How does this omentum moves by itself? Or how is it moved by or from other organs/systems?
@somanaut
@somanaut Год назад
Happy to meet you and your lovely soul here Thijs :) I have been wondering my whole career exactly how the omentum gets around to do what it does. Are there contractile fibers that pulse within it and help it inch along? Are there polarities of electrical charge that attract it to the positively charged pools found in inflamed sites? I would also love to know! All I can say for sure is that I have seen it in different positions in the donor forms hundreds of times, and that surgeons report the same phenomenon in the living. Cool beans!
@thijstrompert3503
@thijstrompert3503 Год назад
@@somanaut At first, thank you very much for your answer! This connection makes me happy! And second, (I imagine a lot😉) I hypothesize that there is a "parental/mother" energy that moves the body as a whole and maybe specific the Omentum majus. I am interested in kwantum fysica and kwantum biology. I think there is an invisible energy (kwantum) that create life and movement. Oh well....just fantasizing about this is already valuable for me😅
@kathrynmcmorrow7170

It seems to me the first time I heard the term was carrying my firstborn. I asked the doctor something to the effect of: What is causing this ridgepole type of formation spanning my abdomen? From my vantage point looking downward at my abs while lying on the examination table it appeared like the angle of a rooftop, almost geometric! I believe that's the answer I was given, the greater omentum. Does that sound possible? Would my body be sheltering the life within from things and clinical probes like ultrasound and fetal heartbeat detectors? Yet I noticed that would arise at other times, perhaps when the ambient temperature was too cool for comfort so my omentum said, "Time to tent it!"

If the g. Omentum is lymphoid, can massage folk help its work with differential movement, Gil?
@somanaut
@somanaut Год назад
I don't see why not Curtis! The folks at the Barral Institute do just that :) I'll have Gail Wetzler, their lead teacher here in the US, on as my "Live with Gil" guest next month, I'm looking forward to chatting with her about all things visceral :)

Once I stopped drinking, my visceral fat (as measured by DEXA) has gone way down. I feel like that's probably pretty good, but is there a lower limit of how low our visceral fat should get?
@saraha6237
@saraha6237 Год назад
Thanks, Gil, super interesting stuff! May I ask - how quickly and dynamically is the omentum able to roam around the abdominal space? Is it visiting and wrapping the organs like on a daily basis, or within an hour, or is it rather laid back in its activity and gives steady support for a couple of weeks to the organ in need?
@somanaut
@somanaut Год назад
Hi Sarah that's a great question and I would have to leave it to imaging technologists to answer it accurately, my guess is that it is "rather laid back" as you say, but I am open to be surprised about that!

Does the lesser omentum has about the same function as the greater?
@somanaut
@somanaut Год назад
That's a good question Thijs! I'd say, not so much the same, as the greater omentum due to its size and free edge is much more "on the move," whereas the lesser omentum has no free edge and is more of a simple spanning of tissue from liver to stomach, so it can't really "help out" in the way the greater omentum can. They share names moreso than functions.
