I hear google will be into IoT... does this mean I'll be forced to watch 15 second ads before I open my own fridge and cubbaords... I hope they implement a "skip ads after 7 seconds" feature on the toilet lid 😕
wow. This video is not like others on this channel. More videos like this please! I don't really want to replace some stuff at my home to something with electronics in it. Because these things break. Most of them has no long term value and it will bring a problem with further innovation
Great and informative video. Very well written. I'm sure there will be a lot of money to be made with this. It was also good to see you mention the negatives such as hackers and the perverted who will abuse iot. God be with us as technology continues to grow.
Good video! IoT scares me. Scares me to the point I am thinking on never buying something that, if hacked, would give access to my information, to my house or to my privacy. I know, my computer gives "them" that access already. But I am in front of my computer, I can turn it off and I can delete all the information on it. A webcam will be something I will not check every day (or even every month). So, it can be hacked. If I ever invest on IoT, it will be through some smart equipment, but I will block their access to the internet. They will have my own intranet, but no access to the exterior World. A lot can change in the future. But my privacy is gold :)
I have started learning arduino for my last year project ,and i would love to work and study on it in future. Do you thing it is going to help me go towards IOT? And what programming language you would suggest,to study connection of arduino and IOT?
Great video Gary very informative. I had no idea about the IOT however to be honest I find it a little worrying and disconcerting. I only hope who ever is developing all this is doing it for the right reasons and it's in safe hands?? . . . .
Interesting video...educative and motivational to new adventurers in smart thinking in lines of IOT... Thank you and would appreciate any help with how to properly do the connections for a smart farm
'This is creepy and quite disturbing' boyy, think of our world now. This video was made 7 yrs ago to date. Think of all the things that r creepy and quite disturbing nowadays 😬😬
Nope Nope Nope! Any product with the name "smart" is a product you need to either avoid or know what you're doing to get rid of back doors. For example, smart tvs (particularily Samsung but almost all smart tvs in general) record you while you are at home and all your conversations and sell them to third parties. So, we have a privacy issue not from hackers but from the OEMS themselves. Now, a security related problem is that if ANY product, machine, anything is connected via the internet, it does not only encompass the likeness to be hacked but also other systems connected via the internet under the same network locally to be affected as well.
Dear fearful peasants, Learn how to secure your devices/network instead of screaming no to IOT devices. Or simply don't buy IOT devices if you lack that capacity. Thanks, a tech nerd
Imagine every network having its own server where all the data is sent and then the owner of that network would opt in and out of sharingbthe users data. Of course then the servers would get hacked. Oh well.
Why would they implement this things when internet security sub-par and easy to bypass. If they put this stuff on like traffic lights there's gonna be a helps a lot mor crashes and wreaks I guarantee it.
I did mention Big Data as one of the challenges for IoT, but as you say I didn't expand on it. The video is already 12 minutes long, if I started an in-depth look at all the problems it would have turned into a PBS Special!!!! :-)
the baby monitor part of the story is disgusting... what baby monitor unite were involved in the hacking? I guess the ones that transmit over the internet to their parents or something.
1- Why have I never seen this guy before in my life? I'm always watching android authority videos. 2- I kind of drifted off in the middle because I am from the US and your accent distracted me :I 3- This IoT craze sounds like a horribly bad idea.... Unless the whole thing was more of a closed circuit and no information left my house, I don't see how it could be safe in the least. Does anyone else feel that IoT is a BAD idea?
Well, there's a lot of banking done via the internet. You probably pay for things online, your bank will move your money around electronically using the internet. So, it's not a huge leap to say that this could be secure...
Just wouldn't trust a company like apple with IOT devices, I had to replace sound docks, alarm clocks etc.. as soon as they changed the connector. Pricks. They'll change the specs, and BAM you have to replace your whole house.
