@@yunus3435 Being a locum GP means your self-employed so don't get the same rights/benefits as employees. Also there is less job security, and you are constantly moving around between practices. Many people prefer to stay in one practice long-term and get to know their patients. It can be annoying constantly using new systems and always being new. Some people find it isolating as you essentially are always alone and don't have regular colleagues. Also if you want to become a partner, then you usually have to work a certain length of time as a salaried GP at the practice first. Many salaried GPs are doing that until they can become partners.

@@yunus3435In theory, the demand for locum GPs changes depending on availability and so is insecure. However, given the state of the NHS at the moment, the number of GPs needed is significantly higher than the number of GPs working, so there is good availability of locum shifts in most areas.

@@yunus3435I’d also like to add , some people just don’t want so much money , they would rather prefer to spend time with families and have some balance Not all doctors want money which is primarily the main reason for being a locum GP As far as job market , GPs are highly needed as …. You know … the NHS system right now

No, its because there arent enough doctors. Whats wrong with being a money grabber? THeyre not being paid for work not being done. They can work 1 day a week and be paid for 1 day a week.
