What is the most popular source game? This is a question that has been on my mind for quite some time now. On the surface, the answer may seem quite obvious to some, with games like Half-Life and Counter-Strike first coming to my mind. They are the source games that made the biggest impact on me after all, I see them all the time.
If you look a bit deeper, you may find an answer that can be quite surprising. I asked this question to a few friends of mine, with each of them giving different answers, mentioning games like team fortress 2 and dota. I decided to ask the r/valve subreddit this same question, getting the same kinds of responses…

I would argue that the Apex Legends Engine is so much modified that its no longer the Source Engine. Just like Gold Source Engine is so much modified that its no longer the Id Engine.

HL2 and TF2 had console ports, you forgetting The Orange Box?

yeah and portal as well 😭 I literally have the PS3 copy of it. What I mean is that those console ports aren't up to date

@@Rasburr True, but The Orange Box is bc with Xbox One. You could get it used for $20.

I like how TF2 and TF|2 are both made with the same engine and got ruined by hackers but fixed by thier crazy skilled communities after being ignored by the developers

The game i have the most amount of hours on and had the most fun on is tf2 and even though its been years of no updates it is still a very popular game and genuinly quite fun
