I'd keep an open mind about keeping the foal. We had the same thing happen to us when I was a kid, and we raised and trained the filly. She was fun to show and we ended up giving lessons on her too. She spent her entire life on my parents horse farm. ❤
I just ran across a dressage routine competition with the foal right along the mother. Wish I handled my 3 year old at work this well. It's on RU-vid Dancing foal next to mommy Zeronica: his name is Odeer - Atze ..
Regarding breeding Belle again, I say stick to your mission, which I don’t think is to be a horse breeder, but to bring your wonderful skill and talent toward horses that will benefit from your gift. Excited to see what/when the new foal will arrive! Best of luck to all of you - your neighbor across the lake (WI) :)
I agree! Shea's niche is to 'finish' a horse in which she perceives potential. This talent is not a given. even amongst experienced horsepeople, which is why a horse from Shea's stable will always have a gentle demeanor (kind), excellent care, and be thoroughly trained (dependable). Will such horses and ponies command a premium price tag; oh yes!
I confessed to my Belle crush on a previous post. My first horse was her size- but I was 16 then and now I'm 70 and at 5' tall I my last horse was 14.3. I absolutely love Zazu! I'm glad you don't plan to re-breed Belle - she is too special to just be a baby maker! I can definitely see Belle in dressage. All that power focused should be breathtaking! Love your video as always. Have a blessed day!
I’ve been watching since before. you got Belle at the auction and as I cannot have horses anymore (I turned 80 last week) I get my horse fix with your channel… wish you had Smell-Vision!! Love the smell of a clean barn with horses in it!! I’m excited to see what Belle will have and love how much care you show all the creatures.
@@junebyrne4491 me either at 66 and in pain with all my back. It's refreshing to watch Shea take such good care of her horses and love on them too. I used to do that & feed well. My good friend taught me how to watch their bodies for weight & adjust accordingly. Shea has an excellent care & feeding program. I'm glad you love to watch like me❤️
I am the same an older viewer and came across shae by accident as I don't usually watch you tube. Well one watch and can't stop. Lol. She gave me what I need my horsey fix lol I have since watching started having lessons and I love it so lovely to watch shae and her horse are addictive but in such a fab way x
I just started taking lessons two years at age 57. I figured it was "now or never". I just want to be a proficient and confident rider. I love going to the barn and just being around these beautiful beings. Heck I even like sweeping out the stalls and tack areas...I Love it ALL !
Not a negative or anything, but it amuses me that the spot cleaning is the thing that you're focused on when it comes to the care hahaha the horse doesn't care that it has some grass stains on it, especially when she's going out into the paddock to roll about in mud and grass.
It’s not about that. It’s about taking time to bond and care for the horse. So much more than what you’re saying. The ones who truly love, respect, and care for their horses get it.
I agree. It is also a good way to know what is normal for your horse so you can catch any issues such as scratches on the pasterns from moist grass or rain rot. I feel it also shows your respect for your horse to keep them at their very best appearance and health. Clean, shiny coats, manes and tails also keep skin problem to a minimum! It's just a good time with your horse overall. I no longer have a horse but regularly go out to a friend's house to help with grooming and bathing. It is definitely no longer about the riding for me! I get my horse fix and get to spend time with a good friend to boot! Let's face it - all horse people love to be around horses and to talk about them endlessly!
I’ve become HOOKED on your RU-vid and TikTok’s! I prefer RU-vid, longer vids 😊. I can’t express the relaxation I feel watching your horses ♥️🥹 I used to ride for a long time. Accidents happen and I don’t have the courage yet. I miss it dearly. I love you’re not going to breed belle. Although I don’t know the story behind her, listening to you, you seem to know what’s best! I love what you guys are doing ♥️🙏🏼🥹
**everyone excited for the foal** (I am too but I’m just pointing this out) Me: HOW DO YOU ONLY HAVE 117k SUBS!? Your vids are amazing and so is the work you do and how you train and treat all your animals. I expected you to have atleast 500k, since you deserve it. ❤
Her channel has been blowing up in the last few weeks, so she no doubt will be at 500k soon enough. Not too long ago I recall when she had like 25k subscribers, so she's well on her way!
Waiting is best. You can’t possibly make a decision yet. I am sure people will clamor to buy her and the baby. Some people may not realize how much each of your angels cost you. It is a small fortune. And by moving your horses through you guarantee that that each moves out to the best home.
Was going thru Shae withdrawal! Saw a video had been downloaded and clicked immediately. Beautiful Michigan morning for sure and lovely wildflower bouquet. When I visited my 40 acres first thing to do was walk along the road and pick flowers for my kitchen table in the cabin. 💐🌻🌺
When you said you didn’t know she was pregnant when you bought her, I had a similar thing happen at the place I volunteer at. My grandmas friend had a place in Iowa that helps kids with disabilities (especially Down syndrome). The bought a mare (Opal) from a breeder. The man thought she couldn’t be breed but, a couple weeks after they bought her she turned out to be pregnant and had a filly (Jojo). ❤
🥰 to your grandma's friend that helped kids with disabilities. I could see Shae doing that, down the road. She has so many possibilities in her business model, it will always be a cliffhanger what she does next. TY re: Opal and Jojo.
OMG. I got so excited when you said her rump was softeniiiiing!!! This is the best I cannot wait! Oh her treats😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂I am literally tearing up from joy!! She's like....The grass is for ME, Princess Belle! Lol💛
This was an awesome update. Belle is beautiful. She’s so tolerant and patient, even though you can kind of see her thinking “lady, will you stop yapping and brushing and let me go out in the field!” You have such a lovely property. I’m a newer subscriber. Do you have a video with a tour of your farm?
I'm so excited with you. If you were you.....I would have to wait and see where the journey takes you. This is new, and special. You are learning and making memories. I know you will make the right decision.🌹♥️🌹.
You are genuinely such an inspiration to me. Your channel made me realise I want to own a barn and start a rehab facility for horses that maybe came from abusive homes whilst making a lesson program that specialises in helping kids who maybe cant afford to ride :) your such a great horse owner and its refreshing to see amongst all the horrible abuse thats becime so normal in the equine industry :)
I am a very early riser also. It makes everybody aggravated because I’m always in a good mood! You have such a wonderful herd. I completely understand why you can’t keep every horse you get and it’s wonderful that you work with them and make them better for other people to have. Belle is so beautiful! Of course, all of those horses are really beautiful and it’s just amazing to see them in the sun, glistening and looking so happy and healthy! Love your channel❤❤
I'm totally stalking your feed to see if the baby has arrived! I don't know about breeding her again, but I can understand why she was broodmare. She's stunning, and sweet, so she has great traits to keep passing down. I'm mostly excited about seeing a Free Spirit foal trained with all of Shae's love and care.
I'm so happy watching you be so excited for this foal! It really is a fun adventure, especially when it's unexpected. Good for you for not caring about what anyone else thinks! It took me till I'm 60 to learn that. It shows how much you love each & every one of your horses. I think Belle is gorgeous💞🌻💐
I love your horses, but Belle is my favorite! So excited for her foal to come! She is just so gorgeous! The horse of my dreams would be a friesien... but Belle is just so beautiful
It was Belles destiny to come to you and her foal, she is safe, and loved, I for one could not let either of them go, I rescued a staffie from a horrible person I didn't realise she was pregnant until 2 weeks before she was due, out of 5 puppies only one survived, I kept that pup and her mumma, Meg and Her Puppy, Chaos
As always thanks for sharing, Shae. Your horses your ideas your journey and yourself. I look forward to every video = Horse Lover ❤ with no horse here so this feeds my soul. I love horses! Thank You, God. Pray all goes well for Belle and Baby 🎉
Very sensible approach. I wouldn’t choose to breed her again, I’d train to whichever discipline she seems most appropriate for. When I rode aside on her doppelgänger we were hunt-seat, but her half sister was more TB looking and was training second level. Can’t wait for her drop her foal.💗
I love how you tell us your plans. Belle is anew horse, you will evaluate and train her. The foal, will depend on how bonded you become and on its personality and it's future potential. Love how you buy and rebuild a horse.
I love this... thank you for sharing about Belle.... I am sitting with an unhandled rescue that was so emaciated and malnourished when I got her... Supposedly she is pregnant. Was exposed for several months to a stud. She has threatened miscarriage several times since I got her. The Vet has only had eyes on her.... no hands on exam. so I understand the anticipation of not knowing when. :) One thing I have learned about you in the past 6-9 months I have been following you is that you do not make decisions lightly. I know that whatever you decide to do will be thoughtfully, carefully considered. I look forward to watching as you make that journey. Best Wishes and love.
Your farm is absolutely beautiful and all your horses are gorgeous!!!!! It’s safe to say, I’m totally jealous here in Alabama 😁 you’re a pretty amazing lady🥰
Love joining you at your farm, so interesting and exciting and as always I love seeing Penelope run to the Barn, the way she looks up at you after coming down the ramp, she is so sweet! Wonderful Video again thank you Shae 😘😘💕💕
But please let it nurse for longer than some stables do. Oh, you just said you might let the foal nurse for six to ten months. Great!!!! Some breeding facilities break my heart by only allowing the foals to spend four or five months at the most with their moms and the moms and foals are shocked by the sudden separation and cry for each other very pitifully.
I just love beautiful beautiful Belle!!! I really hope you keep her!!! She is absolutely gorgeous!!! I can't wait till she has her beautiful little baby!!! I'm not sure why but I have a feeling it will happen in the next two weeks!!!🐴💞😍
We built a concrete circular water tank with a auto pump that gravity fed naturally filtered water (sandy hill, deep well) down to the circular trough below. Part of it was in the corrals the rest in the pasture side. We were gone for extended periods of time so it kept all the cattle & horses watered. During freezing weather, we had someone make sure there was no ice and make sure the pump was working. It was about a 15 ft high x 12' wide (a guess) circular tank with a bigger circular trough at the base. A circle in a circle all connected and contained. (Now my artsy side would want to give it a terra Cotta color, embed large terra-cotta pots with water pouring from them that gave a soft courtyard waterfall effect, with terra cotta tile all around, but.....)
When she gets closer to weaning make sure you let her watch you work out with your best horse. I think Belle is a pleaser and would want to please you. "watch me, I can do that better". She glides when she moves. It will be interesting how she responds. You got this. 👍
My daughter & SIL got a huge water trough, like 6 feet diameter! It looks like it could water a herd of cows, but they have 3 horses. Their cute little Rottweiler climbs over the edge & gets wet when it's hot. You'll love not having to always fill them!
@@freespiritequestrian he's a bit short to climb over, so seeing his little frog butt & legs dangling over the edge makes me laugh! It's even cuter when one leg is over and the other's still dangling🤣
I too can’t wait for Bell to have her baby I think it’s going to look just like it’s mum. You gave a great vlog today and as normal you gave a lot of information out and it’s very helpful to me and maybe a lot of others as well. Your knowledge is great and you give it so freely. Love your vlog keep up the great work you are doing. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
love sweet Belle🐎🦄 can't wait for her foal tfsharing Shae ▪ I watch your channel because you're sharing your journey. I feel bad that you have to explain your actions to a few. have a great weekend❤ ▪ Happy Memorial Day 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸
Love ur disney inspired names. Glad you rescued 2 for the price of one . I can't wait to see what she has. Wonder if maybe she breed to a appaloosa gypsy vanner cross
I understand this… I rescued so many horses and ponies when I was younger, I have stopped now, as my energy is on being a mother to my own children… I got them, rehabilitated and retrained them, then I found perfect homes for them…. I honestly adored some of them, but they were ready, and there was so many more that needed me… it’s heartbreaking 💔 sometimes but seeing them excel in their new home, makes it worth while… when I’m finally finished with my children, I will come back to my first children, I long for and miss them x ironically I’ve never spent a day in my life without a horse or pony, I couldn’t do it, I have them in my life, I own them, I have them else where while I’m busy, when they get deep deep in your heart ❤️ there is nothing you can do, it’s your life, your gift, your mission xo 😘 ❤
Your plan with your horses is similar to having kids. You have them, rear them, teach them then send them out to the world for them to go out and be/do their best. I had the same philosophy when raising German Shepherds many years ago. It's a good feeling making people happy with something you've nurtured to make their lives better. Many people do not understand this. Belle has such potential as she is so willing and enthusiastic. You and her were meant to be on this journey for a time. Do a poll for Belle Baby due date. I'll pick June 14th Flag Day.
I think you are going to find that Belle's personality is super for training her to be a show horse! She is stunning! I doubt you will ever train her and rehome her because she is a sweet heart and would make a nice show horse! Love her! xo
I wish Bell was like the old show Mr. Ed he could talk, so momma wouldn't be apprehensive,ha ha. And I know how much work time and money it takes to raise one horse, just cleaning and vets visits, grooming and the many many other things also the hoof care. You do a wonderful job, and u r so funny when u start talking, about everything. Love and prayers to u and the big fur babies.♥️🌹✝️
Don’t stress~ just take it one day, one moment at a time.. live in the Present and Enjoy ❤ “Today is a Gift That’s Why they call it The Present “ Love, Kathleen
I totally get that you have to sell them eventually. It's like the same as if you were fostering kittens. My friend fosters cats and he literally cries every time one gets adopted. But if he didn't give them away he couldn't help the next cat. It doesn't mean you care less about them just because you have to give them away in the end.
From what I've seen you take good horses and ponies an turn the into awesome riding ones. This sets them up to always be desirable and have a loving home. I wish more trainers would consider the long term life of these horses rather than the short term monetary gain
I wouldn’t decide on what to do until after the foal arrives. See how everything works out. How she does with delivery and motherhood. See how the foal turns out.
