We just casually got the Golden Toy Robot from a safe on an island near Balboa today while collecting Bee Jars. Didn't think anything of it. It was like within the first 15 treasure spots we've dug up. Had no idea it was so rare
Same for me, no idea they're that rare! I have now all of these three robots and I just left Tangaroa for the first time. The basic one, the plushie, and the red-eyed horror one. I thought they were like any other decorative item in the game... Also I had no idea I can plant something in the shoe!!! Love that idea!!!!
Your video is very mostly right. However you must remember that the loot tables get randomly drawn from multiple times. This means that every time you open up, for example, a safe, you have the 4.5% chance somewhere between 4-5 times each time you open it. This is also why you are able to get multiple dev paintings at once. This also applies to the golden toy robot, however a chance of getting 2 golden toy robots is like 0.0000001% lol. But yea the chances are very so slightly higher than you mentioned
My partner just started playing raft with me, and in less than 50 digs (he only just got that achievement today) he found a golden robot! He also got 5 of the 6 dev paintings and the metal cassette! I told him that I'm not touching the metal detector on our save, I've only managed to find 1 dev painting and nothing else special from the safes on my first save, so clearly he's the one with the magic touch.
The antenna and receiver blueprints are one of a kind, making them just as rare as Tom. If you throw them away, they're lost forever. And a crazy thought I had while writing this is that in a similar sense, decoration packages could also be considered rare. Their supply is limited, and they stop showing up once you've collected them all. Technically it's a step above the other 3 because even though they are more abundant, you are forced to "sacrifice" them if you want to unlock all the decoration options, meaning you'll never be able to hold another one in your hands once you open the final one. There is no incentive to sacrifice Tom or the blueprints. You can store Tom and the blueprints in a chest for the rest of time and not feel the effects, but you cannot store the decoration packages in a chest the same way, as doing so will reduce your decorating options. Therefore, you can argue that decoration packages are truly the rarest item in Raft. If every raft was played to perfection, not a single one would contain a decoration package.
I literally got the golden robot on my second ever dig. I had no idea it was that rare. I was just trying to get all of the metal detector achievements.
This may be superstition and/or beginner's luck, but I had the lucky cat statue from fishing within the first hours in total of playing, and from there things only got better. After I unlocked the metal detector I decided to go treasure hunting and now find more safes and suitcases then anything else, except for the tikis which I managed to collect on the same island. The raft gods smiled upon me that day, for I became an equal.
aren't you forgetting about the new rare drops you can get from fishing such as the scrap mechanic tomato crate, redbeet crate, pineapple crate etc there is quite a few you can get of them.
I had no idea how rare the golden robot toy was, as i found it on my literal first dig spot in the game, and thought, Oh thats cool, these treasures just have golden toy robots in them.
The multiple rolls on the treasure tables actually makes a big difference. Since safes drop 4-6 items you can average it to 5 and cancel out the 20% chance to get a safe. Making it 1/1000 instead of 1/5000 per Dig (1/0.0002 = 5000). But its actually better cuz its not 2 percent and 5 percent to make the 1 in 1000, its 2.3 and 5.2, so it ends up being 1 in 836 chance per dig. (the decimals unexpectedly make a sizable difference) Still definitely the rarest item
While getting a painting is quite common compared to the golden robot, getting the one you need is hard. So that one painting you are missing is actually the rarest item. I managed to get all of them once. I got a golden robot in 3 playtroughs so far.
the old shoe is a reference to Wall°E because you cant put a Plant in it . For those who ask "Why is that a Reference to Wall°E?" it is because in "Wall°E" the Robot whos called Wall°E puts a Plant he finds in an old Fridge with some Dirt in an old Shoe.
I struggled for a LONG time with the golden robot. I had 16 tiki poles before I got it. Not PIECES, 16 fully complete poles. And a literal army of the green robots. Also, those odds are not per treasure, but per item in a treasure
I love how simple and direct your content is could you ever do a video on gardening like what's the best Garden and how to get more food from it and seeds
I feel like my rarest item is the base to the tiki post....I had a Golden Robot and all developer paintings well before I completed that dang post.....
Would you believe me if I said I JUST dug up a golden robot today? I saw your video and was like. "Wait? is that thing rare?" So thanks for learning me at the exact right timing! XD
I found my 4th ship island today (day ~300), but also no plane island so far. Additionally I found my first ship island around day 200, since then I encounter one like every other day.
It would have been nice if the super rare items were also useful. Like if wearing the captains hat made your raft move faster or something. Useless rare item are ultimately still useless.
I don't really consider Major Tom rare because although you can get only 1 if you do the storyline you are guaranteed to get it. But by your definition it is indeed rare
It took me 12 totem pieces to complete it, I have the golden robot, but I'm still missing a painting 🥲 I'm crafting 4spades at once at that point and I use the catfish recipe to explore islands faster 😆
At 7:24 I believe your math is a bit off. If you have a 30% chance of getting one item and you have a 20% chance of getting a different item I believe you have a 30% chance of getting one of the 2 items. I don't think you can add the percentages together, but maybe I am wrong.
thanks for telling me i got golden toy robot but i don't have normal toy robot and i probably dig like 50-75 treasure spot x) update: 10-25 treasure later 2 regular toy robot with one safe x)
Wow just wow. Inspired by your video I played for a couple of hours. In that time I got the final Tiki part I was missing. I fished up a lucky cat. And I dug up a golden robot. Like I said wow just wow. I love your videos.
So weird seeing others say this i dug up my first 4 treasures, all trash, 5th one had a golden robot and im still yet to find a painting or tiki thing 😂 im on 203days so far
The word "rare" have amount as main focus. How many or how much of whatever, the less the rarer. The difficulty of obtaining is just an indicator of possible degree of rarity.
Hi! Would you consider subtitling your videos? This is the best channel about Raft I've found so far and I think it would be really helpful for non english speakers like me to enjoy your content without missing anything you're saying. Even though your accent is very clear, subtitles would be very handy. I also believe it would be beneficial for you as it could significantly increase the number of views on your videos. Cheers!
Sorry, but I can't count something every single person, who plays Raft, gets as the rarest item in the game. Non-hardcore collecting people easily get it. You could play Raft for 500 hours and not get a gold robot, that's the rarest.
i have a question about 'the perfect chapter 3 raft' , i watched the vid couple times and i am in the middle of buidling it, BUT i realy dont understand the waterpipes, they just go nowhere, one gos into a water tank but dosnt go out to anywhere. would it be possible for you to explain?
Hi, so uhm... I cannot believe NOBODY has pointed this out yet, even after one year online and 42k views... At 7:27... What kind of broken math is this? That's NOT how you calculate probabilities... -_- Alright, but I won't leave you hanging there. :P So assuming the events are independent, this is how to do it: you multiply the probability of each item within one branch and then sum them at the end... which you do correctly at 8:00 (and with the golden robot part), but with only one branch. Here, I'll try to make this as visual as possible in a YT comment... (probably (hah!) RIP phone users) 4.2% / 30% / + \ 20 % \ 4.7% 30% x 4.2% = 1.26% + 20% x 4.7% = 1.54% ----------------------------------- 2.8% Yes, the result is close to yours (2.3%), but this is actually the proper way to get the result. :) Anyway, I'm no expert in Raft (damned Screechers get me all the time), but I think I know my way around some formulae. ^^ So I hope this helps, and thanks for reading my math lesson. xD Oh, and on a final note/remark, I'm assuming the percentages given are for all items in a chest (using this term loosely for safe or case), not for each item individually, right? By that I mean, essentially the dice gets rolled once for all items in a chest and not for each item. Otherwise, if the percentages are for each item separately, we also need to apply a factor on each branch with the number of items per chest. > We could get a hint as to which one it is this way: if anyone gets more that one dev painting in one opening, we are probably (hah! again) in the second case where we'll have to factor the number of items in...
Hi! I just crafted my first metal detector. And my first treasure in my hole time playing raft is a safe. And i got the golden robot. At first i didnt even know what it was ... I cant believe i got the rarest item of the game that easy...
