Going purely off just encounters, not including shinys or ivs, I would say it’s probably munchlax from the original gen 4 games. It can only be found on honey trees at a 1% chance, but the real kicker is that it can only be found on 4 different trees, which change with each new playthrough. Edit: would like to say thanks to everyone who have engaged in the conversation of this comment it’s been really nice seeing some people’s reactions and stories and sharing info of other rare encounters, I’m also incredibly happy that my most liked comment ever was about my favorite Pokémon, so here’s to more conversations to come and thank you all.
Also Feebas from gen III had a similar mechanic, only 4 spots in a river that has like 160 possible spots, also these spots change every playthrough and has only 50% possibility of encounter a Feebas
@@giovannialcudia1098 I wanna say there was something similar about feebas in gen 4 also, it was a certain body of water in mt. Coronet where only a few spots had a 50% of feebas, upside it was a little easier to find cause if you synced games with friends they would have the same spots to find feebas.
I believe I read in the wiki that once you find an encounter in a honey tree the next one in the same tree has a high chsance to be the same pokemon again, so that probably makes munchlax worse if you dont get it first try
A full-odds perfect IV Pokémon in the wild is also a 1/1,073,741,824 chance [one in a billion.] A full-odds Shiny + perfect IV Pokémon in the wild is a 1/8,796,093,022,208 chance [one in 8.8 Trillion] Some Pokémon can be guaranteed to have 3 perfect IV. Getting a regular coloured, "full-odds" perfect IV Pokémon which has 3 guaranteed perfect stats, is still a 1/32,768 chance
I remember that one video explaining mathematics and probability in Pokémon, that found that one guy that got the TRILLIONS chance of walking through trigger grass in gen 1 Safari Zone and not getting a single battle for over 250steps. Now that's amazing and it was recorded so it lives in prosperity as the #1 gaming most improbable thing to ever happen.
I failed a shiny spinda knowing no one else in the world will no what it looks like (neither I cuz I was distracted) then redeemed myself happily knowing no else in the world will have that exact shiny form
A Spinda. Not just any Spinda. You save until you find a shiny spina, remember its pattern. Reset the game and try and find the shame swirl Shiny Spinda with Pokerus. It’s like picking up a grain of sand, having it placed in a random location on the planet, and having everyone on earth search for that same grain.
Back in the day, having a Milotic was rare af. Had to first find a feebas, then raise nothing but beauty... God the anxiety feeding Feebas blocks in sapphire
Feebas was exclusively for ruby version no? I had sapphire and emerald. Could never get one to spawn….friends had the same issue. But we had a friends with the same issue. But we had that one friend with ruby version that would fish in a specific spot and it was feebas for days. He also had the iconic red gyraldos. It was a bit of nostalgia from the crystal days.
Apparently, the odds for a wild encounter to have pokerus are 3 in 65536, so if we take that figure and calculate it with the odds of catching a shiny level 100 Magikarp with perfect IV's the odds become 1 in 1.638375e+15, although I'm not sure I calculated that correctly. I'm positive the comment section will let me know
Nobody's talking about the fact that in the older games it's around 8,000 not 4,000- that only changed in the newer games (bdsp and legends arceus.. and SV obviously) Edit: to be exact, 1 in 8,192- thank you matt!
Anyone who thinks gen 6-7 is old has some learning to do 😂 don’t want to gatekeeper shiny hunting I think the changes are great and help save us all time. But until you soft reset for a full odds 1/8000 shiny you don’t know pain
ACTUALLY There is a video done by Lockstin/Gnoggin on the sheer dizzying insanity that is Spinda. Long story short, if you got 12 people to count a different pattern WITHOUT STOPPING, it would take you LONGER THEN YOUR OWN LIFESPAN MIGHT BE TO SEE AND COUNT EVERY SINGLE PATTERN OF SPINDA! 😵💫
Since PID determines both shininess and IVs, I think you'd have to reset for a file with a specific ID and Secret ID just to be able to have the chance to get a perfect IV shiny in the wild. Then you'd have to encounter 2 Spinda that are essentially clones of one another. Also, not all Nature and IV combinations are even possible on a wild Pokemon in the older games, so you wouldn't even necessarily be able to get a good Nature on your 6 IV Pokemon. If you hatch Eggs instead, IVs can potentially be passed down from perfect parents. Though even with a Destiny Knot, I have a feeling each individual save file only has a couple possible perfect IV shiny Spindas, since only 16 out of the possible 65,536 PIDs can give a shiny, anyway. (And methods that increase the shiny chances just give extra rolls, rather than changing it so more PIDs are shiny for that save).
It would be a shiny, perfect IVs, spotless Spinda. Spotless Spinda is only ONE of the billions of spinda patterns (one and two spots have millions of variants so they are common)
@@zeetyg It's from Twilight Wings. You should definitely check out the short series Pokemon puts out. They are gorgeous and some of the best. You can find all of them on the official Pokemon channel. Generation, Evolutions, recently Paldean Winds are some more.
So far I've perceived rarity based on how hard it was to obtain. Machamp seems rare and prestigious to me because I could never find another kid to trade with back in the day
Same here with a quick powder shiny ditto in ultra moon I caught as a kid. Doesn’t have imposter so its virtually useless but a cool trophy shiny nonetheless.
As I recall, someone actually caught a shiny authentic Sinistea on-stream, and Pokemon Home or something wouldn't even register it as legit because it was so impossibly rare.
I kinda thought it was shiny 3 segment dundunsparce Edit: Ok I get it there's much more rare Pokémon to get, I just thought it was the case since Catherine (I think that's her name, basically the funni dundunsparce lady idk) made it look so rare for how long it took for her to get one.
Forgot about pokerus. Got a shiny ditto with pokerus in ultra moon as a kid and didn’t know it was a 1/170m something occurrence on its own. It would have been half of that due to new gen odds, however it held quick powder which is a 50% chance to hold. Sadly it doesn’t have imposter :(
having 2 spindas with the same spin patterns is one of the rarest things i think, its obviously not from one encounter but it is the rarest thing that can happen
I remember catching the level 100 Magikarp and I also remembered catching a level 70 Kingler in a Great ball without battling it and got it with the first ball. Won't see days like those again .
@thahomiegonzo4021 But this video is about Pokémon that almost no player will ever get, and around every third player gets a Bulbasaur at the start of the game, making it really common among players compared to all Pokemon that were listed in the video
@@poryzonegames942I think it could also be a joke about how almost no one picked bulbasaur in the original games. They saw a dragon on fire and a turtle with cannons on the back and thought they were cooler than a frog with a leaf
Perfect IVs is far less likely than 1/4096. IVs range from 0-31, meaning 32 possible IV outcomes. If there are 6 stats, the odds of 31 IVs at every stat would be 1/(32^6), equivalent to roughly 1/1,073,741,824. However, since you’re only concerned w 5 stats typically in competitive, the odds are around 1/33,554,432. These calcs are with no boosts to IVs, such as current legendary fixed IVs rates or breeding with ditto.
With just 4 DVs with 16 possible outcomes in the OG games perfect IV odds were still around 1 in 65000, the same as maximum amount of stat experience, forgot the exact number
It hilarious because i caught mine as a child almost immediately and i just looked in my boxes on my switch that i migrated and transferred over and i actually have an adamant one shimy with perfect i Vs..
Two Spindas with the same pattern alone is more rare than that, now think of a perfect IV shiny Spinda that is the same pattern as other Spinda you already catch
Still a good chunk of my childhood was spent looking for feebas and not finding that little fuck that spawns in only 2 random tiles on a big ass waterfall
One of the things I wished the anime adapted from the manga was how marcille let her hair down before doing the resurrection. The act of running her blood soaked hands through her hair was so impactful especially knowing the importance of clean hair for magic (and marcille’s own cleanliness habits).
shiny munchlax in platinum must be almost impossible. 2-3% spawn rates of certain trees after spreading honey and waiting until a pokemon spawns. then the 1 in 8192, I really want one tho 😢
Surprised to see no one mentioning that in Gen 7, there’s a bush in one of the starter areas that has a 1% chance to spawn, you can use the SOS feature and there’s another 1% chance that you can get a salamence to appear as its ally in battle. You can get a legitimate level 10 salamence via this and have it for your play through. I got so lucky once that I had a shiny level 12 salamence pop up
To put that into perspective that is about 5,559,999,540 times more than the human population on Earth EDIT: I don't know if my last comment posted because it was giving me an error and now I see "1 Reply" but i won't let me see it. This calculation was for identical shiny Spinda with perfect IVs and same nature
In Pokemon X/Y finding a horde of 5 shiny Spindas, all with perfect IVs, identical spot patterns and Pokerus. That's the rarest find in all of Pokemon.
My neighbor has 5 switches at all hours of the day grinding for shinies. It is a pure addiction. So bad he stays home from work every chance he gets. Legend says he is still grinding for 1 shiny
