Thank u guys for your interpretation of what is the Sabbath, God bless. I have now a better understanding of it, thanks from Nijmegen/Netherlands, שלום
Thank you Matthew for being obedient to the Spirit to teach on the Sabbath. I've learned so much! I am recommending this teaching to our fellowship here is SW Georgia. Shalom!
isn't it awesome how in Exodus 16 that God provided double the Manna from Heaven on Friday the sixth day so the people of God could have their 7th Day Sabbath Rest. The Messiah was crucified on Friday the sixth day so the people of God could have Eternal Sabbath Rest!!! The Messiah is the Manna from Heaven, the Bread of Life!!! The Sabbath Commandment is actually the Gospel Message: His (the Messiah) Work equals our Eternal Sabbath Rest. We can't "work" our way to Heaven cause He is the Way!!!
OK, I have a question. I was doing a Ministry on the Sabbath feeding the hungry. however the organization that was feeding the hungry was also preparing food on that day. I was told by others by doing this on the Sabbath, I was breaking the Sabbath. not keeping it. we fed 300 families who could not afford food. the needy. what is your opinion on this?
+Beth Totzkay I am no biblical expert, but Yeshua did ask "is it lawful to do good or evil on the Sabbath?" I think you represent the Messiah Yeshua beautifully by doing good.
+csfrost86 I decided in the end to do both. because of my uncertainty. I gave up the food ministry on Saturday. and started my own ministry. I am now doing a Nursing Home Ministry, serving the widows in need of God's love. So now I have no questions in my mind if missed the Mark. My husband is still doing the food Ministry. I like you see it the same way. Only our Father in Heaven knows. However, I am sure He knows that my husband's heart is in doing good for Him. :). Thanks for you input.
+csfrost86 my ministry is now durning the week. my husband still doing Sat. I told him that I can not speak for him, because I am not sure myself. I just want to be sure, so changed it. The reason I was unsure is the fact that I was scheduling myself to do work on that day. I also have made blessing bags for in my car. just in case if I run into someone in need. It has essential needs, food etc. plus some money in a bag. If I happen to see someone in need and give them something that was prepared in advance. I did not think twice about it. what made me question was the fact of is preparing food and working, when this all could be done on a different day. However, that mission group choose Saturday. That was my struggle.
If we are to take Matthew's teaching of the scriptures to heart, the Sabbath was and is about freeing people from bondage, whether of sin, sickness, hunger, etc. As we glorify Our Creator from freeing us from (bondage) sin/Egypt we were bond to; let us remember to love our "neighbor" who is still bound. For LOVE is the fulfillment of the Torah. As i said I am not an expert, I've only been following Yeshua in this walk for a short period of 5 years. I am glad you choose to represent OUR MESSIAH in such a honorable way. You bring honor to HIM and the kingdom, and that, to me, is what it is about.
I would like to see a video on what we can and can't do on the Sabbath day! I understand if you have a job not to work but what can't you do on the Sabbath?can you go to the gym and go swimming on the Sabbath?
In My quest to learn all that I could about the Sabbath I was led to search the Bible, Removed Books and the writings of Josephus with a word search of the word “Sabbath”. As a result I have come to find out the Sabbath is so much more than just resting and sleeping the day away. I will share with you an excerpt of what I found. The Sabbath is a day that is set apart for a weekly holy convocation/meeting with YHWH Lev 23:1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Lev 23:2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, Concerning the feasts of the LORD, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are my feasts. Lev 23:3 Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings. HalleluYah! He has given us, even commanded us to cease from our works so we can connect with Him. We get one day a week Where we can leave the cares and duties of our world behind and spend the whole day with Him! WHAT ELSE DOES THE WORD SAY ABOUT THE SABBATH? THE SABBATH IS A TIME TO CHECK ALL OF YOUR CARES OF THE WORLD AND YOUR DAILY ACTIVITIES AT THE DOOR. IT IS A DAY OF MENTAL, PHYSICAL AND SPIRITUAL REST. NOT ONLY ARE WE NOT TO DO OUR OWN INTERESTS OR USUAL THINGS ON THE SABBATH BUT WE ARE INSTRUCTED TO NOT EVEN TALK ABOUT THEM. EVEN OUR CONVERSATIONS ARE TO BE ABOUT HIM. WHEN WE DO SO THEN WE CAN RIDE ON THE HEIGHTS OF THE LAND AND THE PROMISES OF YHWH. Isa 58:13 "If you hold back your foot on Shabbat from pursuing your own interests on my holy day; if you call Shabbat a delight, Adonai's holy day, worth honoring; then honor it by not doing your usual things or pursuing your interests or speaking about them. Isa 58:14 If you do, you will find delight in Adonai - I will make you ride on the heights of the land and feed you with the heritage of your ancestor Ya`akov, for the mouth of Adonai has spoken." Prepare all of your food before the Sabbath as no preparation of food is allowed. No work is to be done on the Sabbath. The Hebrew word for "work" (from Exodus 20:9-10 "you shall do no work on the Sabbath") comes from the Hebrew melakah and is pretty plain in its meaning - 1) occupation, work, business; the work of an artisan for public consumption. In other words, you don't do on the Sabbath what you would normally do on the other six days to make a living. This is all the words say to do. Everything else associated with Shabbat has come from someone's ritual of tradition H4399 melâ'kâh BDB Definition: 1) occupation, work, business, 1a) occupation, business, 1b) property, 1c) work (something done or made), 1d) workmanship, 1e) service, use, 1f) public business, 1f1) political, 1f2) religious DO NOT PROFANE THE SABBATH Eze 22:26 Her priests have violated my law, and have profaned mine holy things: they have put no difference between the holy and profane, neither have they shewed difference between the unclean and the clean, and have hid their eyes from my sabbaths, and I am profaned among them. Yes, while we have access to YHWH 24/7, just as there is a special connection that takes place on His Feast days and new moons so it is with the Sabbath. His gate to His inner chamber opens for all who obey His Word and honor His Sabbath according to His instruction. THis gate is only open on the Sabbath and closed on the other 6 days. Eze 46:1 "This is what Adonai Elohim says: 'The east gate of the inner courtyard is to be shut on the six working days, but on Shabbat it is to be opened, and on Rosh-Hodesh it is to be opened. Eze 46:2 The prince is to enter by way of the outer vestibule of the gate and stand by the support of the gate. The cohanim are to prepare his burnt offering and peace offerings. Then he is to prostrate himself in worship at the threshold of the gate, after which he is to leave; but the gate is not to be shut until evening. Eze 46:3 The people of the land are also to prostrate themselves in worship before Adonai at the entrance to that gate on Shabbat and on Rosh-Hodesh. IT IS A TIME FOR WORSHIP Psa_92:1 A Psalm or Song for the sabbath day. It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High: A TIME TO TEACH THE WORD Act 17:2 And according to Paul's custom, he went to them, and for three Sabbaths reasoned with them from the Scriptures, Act 18:4 And he was reasoning in the synagogue every Sabbath and trying to persuade Jews and Greeks. THE SABBATH IS A TIME TO STUDY THE WORD. IN JOSEPHUS - ANTIQUITIES OF THE JEWS BOOK 16 CHAPTER 2 STATES IT IS A DAY FOR TURNING OUR FOCUS TOWARDS YHWH AND LEARNING HIS WAYS. And the seventh day we set apart from labor; it is dedicated to the learning of our customs and laws, (1) we thinking it proper to reflect on them, as well as on any [good] thing else, in order to our avoiding of sin. If any one therefore examine into our observances, he will find they are good in themselves, and that they are ancient also, though some think otherwise, insomuch that those who have received them cannot easily be brought to depart from them, out of that honor they pay to the length of time they have religiously enjoyed them and observed them. ENDNOTE (1) We may here observe the ancient practice of the Jews, of dedicating the sabbath day, not to idleness, but to the learning their sacred rites and religious customs, and to the meditation on the law of Moses; the like to which we meet with elsewhere in Josephus also against Apion, B. I. sect. 22 In Amos the people would be in a rush for the Sabbath to end so they could start making their money. May you see the Sabbath as a day you "Get to" celebrate and not "Have to". Amo 8:4 Hear this, O ye that swallow up the needy, even to make the poor of the land to fail, Amo 8:5 Saying, When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell corn? and the sabbath, that we may set forth wheat, making the ephah small, and the shekel great, and falsifying the balances by deceit? Amo 8:6 That we may buy the poor for silver, and the needy for a pair of shoes; yea, and sell the refuse of the wheat? Amo 8:7 The LORD hath sworn by the excellency of Jacob, Surely I will never forget any of their works. So n a nutshell : No buying or selling, no preparation of food, no working. It is not a day to speak of or do your own interests lest you defile the Sabbath. It is however a day to unplug from the cares and distractions of this world and plug into YHWH. It is a time to rest in YHWH, study His Word, pray, seek His face, teach His Word, worship and fellowship. I hope this helps you to understand a bit more regarding the Sabbath. Shalom shalom to you on your journey.
Our rest is in the lord everything before Christ was just an example in lots of cases they were carnal examples. The truth however is spiritual not carnal. The only way we keep the ten commandments is by faith not by works. We are told our faith without works of faith are useless. These "works" are also called deeds. They are acts of compassion not works of the law. We are told if we have the faith we will not do things that are morally wrong and if we understand faith we can use the law correctly. Thinking the whole of the law is to be kept is wrong and has nothing at all to do with true faith. This is the devils work tricking people into thinking they need works of the law to be saved. All i see is the devils message when i watch videos like this. Peter was "standing Condemned" when he had fallen away from grace teaching the gentiles should be under the law also. That is a clear message that teaching salvation is dependent on observing the law makes ones soul condemned. SO what this man is teaching you is how to make the cross useless and be condemned to hell.
