WHAT ARE YOU GUYS ON ????? A pedophile shouldn't be ABLE to come back wtf ??? He should be in jail rn, not discussing whether or not he's returning you guys are fkin disgusting
As an Arab you don’t know how pleasant it feels to see a foreigner trying to learn our language and talk about it positively despite that it’s considered one of the hardest Also the part with the Yemeni guy was so funny 😂😂😂 شكراً جزيلاً لك من بغداد 🇮🇶❤️
it's considered one of the hardest only by natives all natives think THEIR language is the hardest from all i've tried i say japanese is the hardest and the worst because it's not one language it's 6 different time-raveling chinese mixed up with old japanese then there are tonal and clicking languages the sanskrit based langauges with 6 different letters having exactly the same sound for half the sounds like arabic ه and خ but SIX versions for HALF the sounds each and when arabic is with furigana arabic is plain a good language. not counting that no one needs japanese but arabic script is used across many many different countries the actual hardest parts about arabic is 1 forced cursive. no one ever bothered to create a typeface? and 2 computer fonts i don't understend why arabic is always so tiny you need a microscope to see it why no make as big as latin scripts हिन्दी in comparison twice the size and you can see most of the letters unlike this ذنذنذنذنذنذنذن
@@girlgonecrazy341 japanese is fucking worst ich bevorzuge deutsch. es wie english ist aber nicht durch franzo:sisch ruinert wid albo polski bo memy i pol-owe' sl-ownictwa identyczny
Allow me to break free from the permanent layer of irony that language Simp and all his fans exist in and say: this has got to be your best video to date. Loved it, great work. 🎉 You are doing something really unique for language learning. A comedic channel with widespread appeal based around learning languages!? All highschool language teachers, men and women, wish they could be you.
for the chinese part he said: Maybe it's because every syllable is a character, and every character is has multiple tones. And they are noticeable separations between different words. And that might lead to an inconsistent sound. edit: the replies below have given their own takes, but just remember that i am only providing a translation.
I've always heard a lot of people say German and Arabic are ugly, but I always disagreed! They only have a reputation for sounding ugly because the world's most infamous German and Arab examples were horrid people and spoke very angrily in brusque tones, spittle flying. But when you hear these languages in contemporary, casual conversation, like two friends just sitting in a cafe? They're so beautiful to listen to. Arab has this gorgeous airiness to it, it sounds so light like it's dancing, and German has such meaty consonants that feel good on your tongue, I love attempting to pronounce it.
People who say German is ugly only know German from Hitler speeches, which was a stylized way of a dictator talking to a crowd, not how anyone actually talks.
It's all about the flow. I kind of hated the nasals and r in French when I started learning the language, but now that I can speak with a little bit of proficiency I actually quite like the way they fit into the language. Over time languages develop their own natural flow. If people started speaking Esperanto as a native language, even that would sound beautiful after three generations.
I think French more than any other language stands out for sounding beautiful when spoken by a fluent speaker, and absolutely hideous when spoken by a noob. That must be why it's so polarizing. If I had to guess, it's because non-fluent speakers can't pull of the _liaision._ It's really hard for learners to wrap their head around how in French you don't pronounce words, you pronounce sentences.
@@matroqueta6825 I disagree. I’ve heard native French speakers and I thought it was German from all the stereotypes that it’s an ugly language. To my surprise German sounds more charming than French by a long shot.
@@Pero-zl4jp That's what I find so interesting with languages and how people perceive them. For example to me it's straight up crazy that someone would say German is "charming". Let alone more than French ! But to each their own :)
@@-vaco-4648 especially Swiss German. My relatives from there the language sounds so soft and nice. French always sounds rough (however, like all languages it has moments nothing is ever completely black and white). But I agree with your sentiment, everyone has preferences.
I think german is relatively pretty, only outsiders pronounce the words harshly, the germans pronounce it quite melodically. Im not into Dutch though, its like German mixed with English while you are constantly choking on something

When I started listening to Faun, Rammstein, Heilung (some songs are in german)… It's completely different from the way they teach it in education system
There is beauty in every language. We just need to learn to hear it. If we can't, that's our problem. Just like you, I get very annoyed when people say that German is ugly, or stuff like that. As for French, for me it's one of the two most beautiful languages in the world, Italian being the other one.
я тоже! такой красивый язык, меня немец однажды послал нахуй во время игры и я кончила. Поэтому я учу немецкий чтобы понять, мне конкретно нравится язык или я просто конченая мазохистка
Наверное просто ассоциируют его все с речами Гитлера и диалектом на котором поёт раммштайн что не всем заходит. Но никто никогда не слышал стандартный верхненемецкий
Joking aside, it's definitely a contest between Northern Dutch and some Vietnamese dialects and related languages. The former has so much choking it makes Hebrew sound soothing in comparison. g, ch and r are all godawfully uvular and fricative, and the speaker you chose was far from the worst - to hear how bad it gets just turn on any Dutch talk show. Belgian Dutch on the other hand sounds sweet and aristocratic as hell, it's a mix of all the best features of Germanic with some additional French charm. And Vietnamese literally sounds like tape being played backwards, due to all the glottal stops with and without those implosive consonants, plus the retroflex weirdness and the incredible amount of nasality. And the incredible amount of vowel combinations with tones added on top. And the even-more-than-Chinese monosyllabic, choppy nature of it. Even American sounds like a normal language next to that. And as another comment says, Danish doesn't count since it's actually a throat disease.
If I were going to pick a language that "sounded like a record playing backwards," I would definitely pick Khmer. With all those initial (but never final) consonant clusters, it really does fit the bill. Even Cambodians generally think Vietnamese sounds "soft." I think what puts more people off about Vietnamese, at least the southern dialects, is the extreme tones (the rising tone frequently involves a vocal break in older women) and the strident nasally-pronounced vowels. But I kinda love it. :-)
Dude, I don't know English, except for a couple of words, but I understood this rofl with a British accent and laughed heartily. Thank you for the uplifted mood
I disagree with the idea that every language that sounds harsh is immediately ugly which most people seem to think. Harsh sounds have their charm and really create their own unique way of expressing yourself in a language imo
I love the humour on this channel XD As a person who speaks german, english, cantonese and really bad mandarin chinese, its funny seeing most of those languages on the ugly list
I had been wondering actually what even makes a language beautiful, since Duolingo really wants to tell you how many are. It also described Korean as handsome, and German as cute. I can't speak for the former, but I agree with German. Baumwolle :3 . It also just sounds nice. I do wonder though, if no language can be ugly, can one truly be beautiful? Might just be personal prefence at the end of the day. I do know personally I don't really like the sound of French, but the hideous overuse of it, and uber strong French accents in car and perfume adverts could be the main cause of that.
I think a lot of it is just preference, but your mother language can have some impact on what you do and don't like. English does have hard sounds in its language but overall none of the sounds are overly "harsh" like in French, Arabic, or even German, so some people might not be used to how they sound. And a lot of western cultures might have a fascination with Korean and Japanese languages due to the culture, and the languages there also avoid a lot of those "choking" sounds that some people really seem to hate. I don't think languages like French, Arabic, German, or Dutch are ugly but as someone that grew up learning English they do sound very different to me. I also haven't studied those languages at all so when I do hear them i'm pretty unfamiliar with the sounds. But yeah overall its pretty subjective. Beauty in itself is subjective so no matter what you talk about, there's no way you can clearly define it. You'll always have some people that won't agree with you, haha.
@@GwyndolinOwO yeah, I agree. I feel like English speakers (as a huge generalisation) tend to prefer softer sounding languages. And I guess the intonation more generally; I think a lot of people go for the Romance languages partly because they are more musical sounding (again very subjective).
@@GwyndolinOwO oh, that makes sense yeah. I kinda didn't think about the native tongue side of it for some reason. I can't say I've noticed German sounding too harsh, but maybe I've more encountered softer speakers of it or something. I DO dislike the "choking" sounds in French though. Can't say I've paid attention too much to Arabic, though the writing system looks kinda cool. Can't imagine that's easy.
@@Ametisti German definitely sounds softer than french but I can still see how someone would call some of the sounds in german "harsh". It doesn't quite reach the choking sounds of french but some of its sounds are pretty different to English. I'm sure different dialects affect it too. But yeah, mother tongue is at least one thing that affects how we feel. The language learning community is pretty international but another thing i've personally noticed is that most language learning channels that mainly speak English attract either English speaking people or people that speak a European language. So we're missing a lot of opinions from Asia and Africa. Their definition of a beautiful language could be a bit different than ours. But yeah, I'm sure its possible to write a whole novel on language and beauty, so many things are subjective about it and it really depends if you're talking about a single regions opinion or the whole world.
Мне нравится итог видео. И вообще. Если язык кажется уродливым, то, скорее всего, вы просто не привыкли к нему. Пара языков и мне казалось не особо приятными на слух, но после того, как к ним привыкаешь, они перестают таковыми казаться.
French guy living in Germany here. Often Germans tell me "I like French and I wish I could speak it, German is so ugly in comparison" and I'm always both flattered and annoyed because god damn it I didn't come here to learn an ugly language! Respect yourselves people, your language is _not_ ugly
5:22 「可能是因為每個音節都是一個字, 而每個字都可以有好幾個聲調, 字和字界線分明, 所以聽請來會有些不連續感。」 (Kě néng shì yīn wèi měi gè yīn jié dōu shì yī gè zì, ér měi gè zì dōu kě yǐ yǒu hǎo jǐ gè shēng diào, zì hé zì jiè xiàn fēn míng, suǒ yǐ tīng qǐng lái huì yǒu xiē bù lián xù gǎn.) Perhaps it is because each syllable is a separate word, and each word have multiple tones. the boundaries between words are distinct, so perhaps listening may feel somewhat discontinuous. - by the way , i don't know what the ugliest language is, but i think that the most powerful language is taiwanese language臺語 (Hokkien language閩南語) , especially when you scold people!😂 like this example : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HbagBpFb7a4.html
I can't speak mandarin (yet), but to my ears, mandarin is good and catchy, sounds like they are singing. Some people may think it's ugly due to lack of exposure to it. Before I was immersed in English, English used to sound like lots of dogs growling because of all that "Rrr" sound that is very common in the language, nowadays it just sounds fine.
lol you even put in all the stereotypical jokes for each country :D like french not answering to english or austria being repeatedly confused with australia. chapeau
Language simp, you said in your livestream that you are thinking about learning Slovenian. Slovenian is my mother tongue so I would be happy to help you in any way.
hi dude! I am russian, and I like ur videos. it's so fun to see how foreigner trying to teach me my language xD just kidding! actually all my life (i am 23) trying learn ENG like a casual... so it's intresting see ur problems that you face while learning Russian. ty for expanding the capabilities of my brain
I remember the first video of yours I’ve ever watched and I couldn’t tell if you were being sarcastic or actually being serious bc there’s people that make very similar videos to yours but minus the sarcasm lmao
I had the same thing with Russian. To german (austrian) ears it sounds as harsh and wild as it is said for german. When I began studying it however, that perception totally shifted. I now see it as one of the softest language of them all. And stunningly beautiful on top.
Whenever I hear Polish being spoken it reminds me of the one time I had a wasp nest removed from my house. The bzzzz bzzz bzzz souds just like polish with their sz cz rz and other shit
Oh yeah, I forgot the Polish people... The people who hate the vowel letters to death... Lol 😅 Honestly, it looks like a cat walking in a keyboard... xD ❤ 🇵🇱
Unlike the stereotype, I think the spoken German is sultry and smooth, perhaps due to the "sch" sound that is used a lot in the spoken language. It sounds like a snake's hiss, which I found oddly comforting. Of course, this excludes the screaming part (heck, any language will sound harsh and ridiculous if the speaker is screaming and/or constantly mad)
I'm not a polyglot, but I love watching movies in their original languages. So far I have encountered some that I find a bit grating, especially after 2 hours of so: French, Hebrew, Dutch and any Gaelic (not many movies in Gaelic to be fair 😅). Oh, and also - as an Italian - Italian. We have just too many vowels 🙄
nah Italian sounds good. Any romance language sounds good imo. As others have said, Dutch, Danish and Vietnamese are the probably the hardest ones on the ears in general after a certain exposure
Well, maybe Klingon? But I think, there are no beautiful languages and no ugly languages. One just love how the language sounds or don't, that's it. It's so tender video, by the way! I really can feel your love to the languages.
You could make an argument that the way some Danes speak has evolved out of a language reform binge that introduced... some new economisations to compensate for unnatural sounds.. that now has evolved into just muddle again, which is why the language reforms came up to begin with. That's not pretty. But it's typically nice to listen to anyway. I think the best argument for establishing that an ugly language exists, other than Esperanto, is to point out that modern American "common speak" from TV, basically, has evolved out to disassociate itself from all traces of actual language character. It's all well enough when foreigners will adopt a plain English accent to avoid the breakage, or work with creating the sounds that are distinguishably American English. But I have actually heard several foreigners now who have had better "Acme American" accents - as in having the mannerisms that make something instantly sound American - than natives. Because they speak consciously, privately and otherwise, in a way that would remove the "tell" from their accent. And that's another way, without Danish language-reform, to end up in a place where the now super-plain language will evolve to make "economisations" of sounds from that identityless, constructed language without character. Which makes an ugly language.
if someone hears Lebanese or Syrian dialects of Arabic, they will love it, they are the romantic accents in the Arab world, any Arab who can't speak French will use those dialects as the (language of love).
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Jesus fkn Christ!... How can you even remember those words?... xD If one day I listen this, I would assume you're having a stroke and I would call for an ambulance... 😅
silly youtube demonetising and age restricting a video because they are so jealous of your polyglot skills smh, hope this amazing video gets unrestricted and monetised again soon
I don't know about Danish or Chinese but I do love German and French, both languages are amazing. Actually I don't think any language is ugly. I love this video, congrats Language Simp greets from Ecuador
As a German, for me, my list of most beautiful languages are: 1. Japanese 2. German 3. French 4. Portuguese 5. Icelandic 6. Korean 7. Arabic 8. Spanish 9. Hebrew 10. Vietnamese
Vietnamese 😂😂? I would have agreed if you atleast put Chinese at last, But Vietnamese sounds like a tongue twister, it's not something a human mouth can produce 🤡
That West-Flemish part was amazing. And I completely didn't expect it either, though I was thinking about how our g is less strong (we pronounce it as an "h", not as a "g", leading to the widespread joke that the West-Flemish alphabet only has 25 letters.) Still a bit sad that you didn'tlet him speak our glorious West-Flemish, clearly the bestest language in the world. (And I know it probably was for the joke, but West-Flanders isn't a part of the Netherlands, but of Belgium.)
It’s interesting to think about what it is that makes people think a particular language is ugly, be it representation of speakers, unfamiliarity of the language’s sounds, spellings, etc.
可能是因为每个音节都是一个字,而每个字都会有好几个声调,字和字之间界限分明,所以听起来会有些不连续感。This may be because each syllable is a word, and each word has several tones, with distinct boundaries between words, so it can sound discontinuous.
Whether a language sounds nice or not depends on who is speaking it, your exposure to and familiarity with it, and your associations with its people and sounds.
5:24 the chinese translation: maybe it is because every single syllable represents a Chinese character, and every single character has multiple tones. The gap(boundary) between characters is clear, so it leads to a sense of Incontinuity 可能是因为每个音节都是一个字,而每个字都可以有好几个声调,字和字之间界限分明,所以听起来会有些不连续感
As an european who learned french in school for 5 years, I still hate it. At best the pronounciation reminds me of snobs wanting to sound cool while also discriminating latin and the truly beautiful languages such as italian or spanish. At worst they sound angry, cutting the whole sentence which feels like listening to a chinese speaker.
Out of the languages I've heard (not that many), I personally think Thai and Vietnamese don't sound good due to the heavy nasal sounds throughout the languages.
Cool finish🤣 No one ugly languages. Ugly is some people who speaks on this languages. And from his experience of communicating with them, a person develops such a stereotype. Or is it imposed by a public.
Roasted Esperanto. Esperanto ne estas malbela, sed ĝi sonas stranga por multaj homoj. Now, try Klingon or Toki Pona. Yeah, neither sounds ugly. Actually, I have heard softness in every language when spoken gently. But this video was a riot! Thanks!!!
