Random fun fact that you may or may not care about: When Daki said that Zenitsu "went on the defensive", what she says in Japanese is 受け身を取りやがった (ukemi wo toriyagatta), meaning "(he) had the nerve to take ukemi". Ukemi is a common word when practicing Japanese martial arts, roughly translating to "receiving body" and referring to the act of falling correctly to minimize damage (for example by rolling diagonally over one of your shoulders, or striking the floor with an arm upon impact to spread the impact of the fall). So it's not that she noticed him bracing for her strike before she hit him, but rather that she saw after she hit him that his body reflexively knew from all his training how to fall correctly so as to not be too badly hurt.

Kill 50 demons or at least 1 lower/upper moon, that's the requirement to become a Hashira, there's just not enough strong people to become Hashira, and because they are limited in numbers, they don't do missions together and are stationed in different areas, also if they knew they'd be running into upper moons, they'd obviously employ more Hashira's at the scene.
The Zenitsu thing can't be true because against the Spider demon on mount Nagatumo (or however it's called) I'm pretty sure he passed out and didn't fall asleep

The old lady from 2 days ago didn't implied their are more than 1 of the oiran demon, but she implied that when her certain old granny was in childhood, oirans had a certain habit and behaviour, hence implying that this oiran demon was so old that she had those habits, hence old lady found out that the oiran demon was not human.
At the start of the black and white scene at the beginning of the episode it's written "Edo". The scene takes place during the Edo period (1603-1868), so it was at least 50 years ago.
I think Zenitsu's duality is what makes him so enjoyable. He is either being annoying and scared or he is being serious and unleashing badassery. Not to mention all the hilarious moments he gives us. Low key Zenitsu is my favorite character when I sit down and think about it. I tend to really enjoy the cowards who find the will to fight when needed in anime.
I wouldn't really call Zenitsu "a badass" and that he has will to fight. In two seasons he had only two moments, when he wasn't screaming and being annoying: When he protected Nezuko's box (s1), and yet it wasn't the moment of him overcoming his fears and developing as a character, he just started being obsessed with Nezuko, and this ep, when he protected the kid. I mean, has Zenitsu ever fought without being unconscious? And even this is not explained - how and why, also there's no repercussion for being "one-hit andy". Hell, if you look at how characters change (Tanjiro, Inosuke, hashiras, Kanao) throughout the seasons, Zenitsu stays the same - 0 progress in development, he doesn't even have a reason to be a demon slayer, he's just being dragged along with Tanjiro and Inosuke. Even some demons have more backstory and reasons than Zenitsu, lol.

I think Muzan saying Daki is the strongest is a mistranslation. To me it sounded more like he said "You are more beautiful then anyone, _and strong_ ."
That sounds more correct for sure. We know that Muzan is a manipulator of the highest degree, but it makes no sense to call her the strongest, even as a manipulation tactic, when she is number 6 and it is very clear to even her, that she is number 6 and not THE strongest.
You answered it already, but here's an addendum: The issue with the amount of Hashiras has been explained a little during the Hashira Meeting at the season 1. To put it simply, there aren't many people skilled enough to be considered a Hashira, and the quality of the normal Demon Slayer Members have been dropping down for the past generations, mostly due to them being "normal people who got attacked by demons", while most if not all Hashiras have either extraordinary talents or come from renowned houses known for slaying demons for generations. So there's a critical difference between their "drive to get stronger and kill demons". As for sending two or more for the same place, there's also the matter of area of coverage like you said, but it would be like sending a whole military army to catch a random robber. While it would help having 2+ Hashiras together in case they stumbled upon a Upper Moon, it rarely happens and they have no way of knowing they'll meet one beforehand, so for 99% of the time, it would just result in a needless overkill AND a waste (because the other one could be hunting demons somewhere else). The Demon Slayer Corps suffers from a severe lack of personnel AND quality necessary to keep up with the threat of demons.
Yeah, and usually Lower Moons stay away from Hashiras that they know they have no chance against, while Upper Moons stay hidden until they know the Hashira in question would be an easy prey, so they would never attack 2 Hashira on their own. And for the training, there's a huge difference, usually, between a child of a demon slayer family that's been taught breath techniques since they were born, and random people that learned about them only after being attacked by demons. So with the big families in decline, the average demon slayer is quite weak.
Muzan calling her the strongest is possibly a mistranslation as someone pointed out in the comments. But I've always viewed it as just him manipulating her and stuff. He did already manipulate Rui and the demons he first sent after Tanjiro, so we know he's more than willing to lie to his minions to persuade them to keep trying to get stronger. Also I like that they had Zenitsu not start squealing and stuff about being doted over by the girls at the end. He just sat there all touched by their kindness and was glad that he helped. Shame he had to get attacked at that moment though.

About Rengoku's solo mission: aside from just limited amount of hashira members and lots of ground to protect, there's another reason, Demon Slayer Corps estimates demons' strength by the amount of people they've eaten. The demons who were causing deaths around Mugen train were relatively weak, so they just sent one hashira, expecting that to be more than enough. Rank Three pulling up was completely unexpected.
Zenitsu may be a coward, but he has moments of bravery where he acts on pure instinct. Like here. He litterally knows that he is standing infront of an Upper Rank demon, and you've seen how he cowered in fear of just low level ones. He litterally grabbed the wrist of an upper rank demon in protest to protect that little girl. Yes, he's a scumbag most of the time, but you can't deny his heroism is genuine
SPOILER FREE ANSWERS TO YOUR QUESTIONS, 1) Muzan acts differently with different demons, as every demon needs different treatment to keep fighting, as he did with Akaza and Daki 2) Akaza the upper moon 3 is way too strong, he was just not serious because he wanted Rengoku to become a demon, and he did go serious at the end to save himself from the sun and not die 3) Hashira does not work in groups because demon slayers are low in numbers and in most cases, the underlings they call 'tsuguko' are not strong enough to keep up with them and will only cause them trouble, so they avoid it 4) Muzan was just milking Daki here, lol. No, she is not strong as compared to UM 5 or above ranked demons or anyway closer to Upper Moon 3. As the number increases, the demon power level and the difference between them also increases 5) You can get an estimation of how big the difference is in upper moons power as the rank gets higher, as Upper Moon 1 alone holds enough power to solo all other upper moons at the same time, so that is insane, right? We all know that Koku’s real demon form would obliterate them if he didn’t choose to give up. It was even hinted that Koku could rival Muzan with his technics if he chose to go full demon mode. (As Muzan states himself that Kokushibo is his “partner” and not a “servant” and many things we see later on hint on him having the potential to become a demon king if he chose to abandon his Humanity, which he tried to hold on to until the very last moment)
Upper 1 is also the only demon who could have a CHANCE against Muzan in a fight - it's a slim one but not zero, and he could definitely hold his own for a while, even if he'd ultimately lose, which I don't see any of the other upper ranks managing to do. There's a reason Muzan considers him to be his 'business partner', placing him on almost equal footing to himself in terms of respect which I don't see him doing for a single other demon idk why i wrote this but i see some koku glazing so i wanna join in lmao

And yes, this episode originally aired in Japan around Christmas time. Also, as part of the holiday joke, everyone (except for Nezuko) was dressed up representing different holidays… Tomioka represented Setsubun (a spring holiday), Tanjiro represented Boys/Children’s day, and we could say that Inosuke represented Halloween. Muzan Jackson is probably just saying that no one is as strong as Daki because he wants to encourage/flatter her. She isn't actually stronger than the upper ranks. It's more so him going "You are so awesome, and beautiful, and strong Daki! You have the potential to be the greatest ever!" to motivate her. Works very well because she likes being praised for her looks and abilities, especially when it's from her pop star crush. (The tension between them was obvious, lmao.)
Inosuke has as good ability as Tanjiro to find demons, but he does not have the disadvantage of being influenced by the environment. If it rains or is windy Tanjiro will have difficulty using his sense of smell. It is also for this reason that when they fought on the mountain, Inosuke found the demon before Tanjiro. The mountain had the smell of demon in every direction and Tanjiro could not find the manipulating demon.
I think in the case of the mountain it wasn't that there were demons in every direction it was a particularly overpowering smell that was coming in on the wind. There's an implication that it was specifically the brother spider. Zenitsu comments on how bad it smells and that it would kill Tanjiro if he were there. After Zenitsu kills the brother, when Tanjiro faces Rui he notes that the smell was clearing up and he was able to sense the threads so he could manage to dodge them. Which is just a little thing I like because it creates a connection between Zenitsu's fight off on his own and the ability of Tanjiro to survive against Rui. Even though there is no direct overlap Zenitsu is still contributing to trio in a meaningful way.
This is a season that ramps up like a snowball going downhill. Starts chill, then eventually you hit a point of no return and suddenly the entire rest of the season keeps 1 upping itself in terms of hype and tension. This episode just tipped the snowball slowly over the edge

its tomioka giyuu! tokito is another hashira, the mist one. and as for why hashiras dont travel together, its bcs the show is only airing demon slaying mission which tanjiro is going to. in that world, theres a lot of demons not just the one tanjiro is supposed to slay and they appear randomly the demon slayers dont know if theyre upper ranks or not so each has different missions. AND as for why they only have a few hashira, if i remember it correctly, it will be explained in the fifth season that was just aired this year :D

It makes you wonder though Luke with a name of a show called "Demon Slayer" you would expect it to be dark. But it is quite dark just I don't think it is that unexpected. I do like the dark tone of this series as well which gives off a sense of understanding of the characters more because these are situations that could happen to people in reality which makes you emotionally attached to them whether they are demons or humans. But this is also why I like this series especially this arc because the fights although we haven't gotten to them yet and in this episode how it kind of gives off a murder mystery as you yourself has been piecing together what is going on in each of the houses and which wife is in which house.
The 5 upper ranks above her are certainly far stronger. What Muzan said to her was more of just flattery. He was barraging her with compliments in hopes of motivating her to work harder for him.

While it's not stated directly but is implied that there can only be 9 hashira and each one has their won breathing style without overlap. I think it's because the Demon slayer corps is essentially a military organization. They do not recruit more hashira because they don't meet all the conditions. Otherwise our boys would have been hashira by now. But Tsuguko do exist (apprentice of the hashira) who act as reserved Hashira and can fill a spot if needed.

Hashira usually don't do missions together because they need to split up as there are plenty of demon sightings that they need to take care of, sending them together would be overkill (wasting time while innocents die) unless they happen to actually encounter an upper rank, which is very rare.
They can't just make anyone a Hashira overwise they'd all be fodder to become a Hashira you have to kill a 100 demons or fight one of the 12 and win in a 1 v 1. (These are pretty much lower ranks ) The Hashira are spread out over Japan barring special meetings so one is always available to reach a part of the country relatively quickly. The Upper Ranks generally are going to pick their fights better as well Upper Rank 3 wasn't even trying till the last minute if he fought seriously from the start he would have beat Rengoku sooner. Rengoku only almost won because the sun was almost up and he caught him off guard.
3:13 In the 1st ep of Entertainment District Arc (Ep. 8) when 🏀 met HEE-HEE, HEE-HEE said that 🏀 was nearby which is why HEE-HEE told him to go there. My guess is that HEE-HEE figured out that Enmu (lower rank 1) failed his mission which is why he told 🏀 to go there and finish off the mission instead. Meaning 🏀 was an unexpected visit from the upper moon. Mugen train was mostly about lower rank 1 which is why they didn’t think they will need back up from the other hashiras. Monjiro, Monitsu, and Imoufke were dispatched as backup to help out Rengoku, this was a way for Gonpachiro to talk to Rengoku about Hinokami Kagura. But yeah I thought the same too if Rengoku had backup maybe from Tengen even, they both would have been injured but maybe they could have defeated upper moon 3 (a.k.a 🏀). XD what an explanation 😂! Hashira are exceptional demon slayers. The bar for being a Hashira is pretty high, that's why there aren't more of them. Also, Hashira are probably split because they need to cover more ground in order to maximize the rescuing and saving of civilians from demons. But they do team up sometimes like Giyu did with Shinobu. I think that it needs to be confirmed that there is a Kizuki in the area before dispatching Hashira in order to not waste their time, but I am just guessing. What I don't understand is that even after so many years of Hashira rescuing the people from demons, why are the demons still considered myths? There would be too many survivors for it to be considered a coincidence right?
I mean there's 52 million people in Japan at this point in history with much more of a rural spread than now. The demons number in the low hundreds probably. The Demon Slayer corps likely outnumbers the total number of demons. There also likely aren't all that many survivors and the ones that do survive demon attacks are almost certainly traumatized to hell. Death due to demon is probably still a very small contributor to overall mortality rates. There are probably overall as many people out there telling stories about alien abductions, demonic possessions, haunted houses, bigfoot or other things of that ilk. Physical evidence of demons and their magical powers disappears without a trace.
the problem with pairing Hashira together is that it is not efficient. Hashiras could take ALL of the other demons (just an exaggeration ofc) besides the upper ranks, so putting two of them together would mean that other places, where lower levelled demons are, would stay defenseless, if you know what i mean. they do however, get together whenever they _suspect_ theres an upper rank in the area, like when Tomioka and Shinobu went together to that mountain in s1. the train killed 50+ people, while the mountain killed a lot of _demon slayers_ thats why they sent two Hashira, just to be sure. pairing two hashira in normal missions is just overkill, when most probably they would just deal with normal demons.
Some background info on her name: "-hime" is typically an honorific used to mean "Princess". It is periodically used as a suffix in someone's name. In this instance, this demon has been using different names throughout history, all ending with "hime". So she's essentially calling herself a princess.
If you notice when they say the name of the city and district during this chapter, in the black and white scene it says Edo, and when it comes back to the present it is Tokio, but the name of the district doesn't change. That's because in 1868 the imperial capital was moved from Kyoto to Edo, and the name of the city was changed to Tokio, signaling that this demon has been living in the same district for decades or maybe centuries. My guess is that this series happens at the beginning of the 20th century, so she has been living there at least forty years, reason why she was forced to use several names along the years
The hashiras are very few skilled demon slayers and the are sent to areas with wide range so they find traces of demon as well as searching for clues of muzan and upper rank demons thats why they all work separately

I am guessing you already watched a few more episodes before this one was uploaded, so I will answer the question. This mission was to be carried out by 2 hashira, Tengen and someone else. What they are doing now was strictly to gather info on the demon before they could proceed. But the trio didnt follow Tengen's orders and engaged with the demon, Tengen also didnt fully obey the orders either because he was worried about his wives.
the question you mention on 5:00 is that that scene is from diff era/period the black and white scene is from edo period (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edo_period) you might be miss out the caption at the top mention the period.
The thing people sort of gloss over a lot with Muzan is that he doesn't just control his demons through fear. He definitely does use fear, the curse he puts on them for one thing and when he's frustrated and angry we see him lash out and threaten. But he also uses the promise of greater strength through a greater share of his blood as an incentive. We've also seen that he's willing to indulge particular quirks of a kizuki with Rui being given permission to form his own family and share his power with other demons in a way that normally wouldn't be allowed. We saw with the Temari demon that he manipulated her by making inflated claims about how strong she was, that she was a kizuki. Suggesting that she was special and in a position of greater trust in a way that's kind of similar to a predator grooming a child. Indeed as she was dying it was remarked how child-like she seemed. Muzan is very multifaceted. He's a piece of crap, but he's not a one-dimensional piece of crap.

Inosuke speciality is touch. his basic senses and instinct are amazing. when he is using "seventh form: spatial awareness" he is focusing on every kind of things he can feel from anything around him within a big radius. also, certain types of people share certain traits. for example, flame breathers generally have similar hair colors, stone breathing users usually too damn emotional and muscular, thunder breathers have strong legs (sometimes depends on spoilers stuff). btw, random knowledge not related to the plot but you can skip if you want to know later,,, did you know that the love hashira trained under Rengoku? love breathing is an offshoot of flame breathing created by her because she couldnt master flame breathing, she wasnt made for it. so, she kinda changed the fighting style to her liking.
Just to comment on what you said around the 22:00 mark about Muzan's comments to Daki: That interaction is pretty much just Muzan sucking up to Daki to manipulate her to try harder, she isn't actually stronger than the other upper ranks Also (and I'm sure you could probably figure this out but I'm mentioning it cus it's another logical reason as to why he'd be like that with Daki) Muzan does hold the Upper ranks in a MUCH higher regard than the lower moons, which explains why you probably thought Muzan liked Daki a lot more than the lower moons or normal demons, both of which he wouldn't have a problem with slaughtering on a whim because, unlike the upper moons, they're more than disposable to him Regarding your question at the end regarding the Hashira: Typically, Hashira work alone (or at least w/o other Hashira) because they're essentially a one-person army, it's so rare that multiple Hashira are needed so they don't send them unless they KNOW there's something that a single Hashira wouldn't be able to manage. Also, there are only 9 Hashira (8 after Rengoku's death), so there aren't really any to spare. The requirement to become a Hashira is either kill 50 demons or defeat a member of the Twelve Kizuki WITHOUT HELP, so anybody could become a Hashira but very few demon slayers survive long enough to find and kill 50 (they either retire or are killed) and are not even CLOSE to the level off skill that it would take to complete either of those requirements

The black and white setting that appeared in the very beginning of the episode IS to show the same location and events just years before. That was during the Edo Period (1603 - 1868) back when the capital of Japan shifted from Kyoto to Edo, and eventually renamed Tokyo later on during the beginning of Meiji Period (1868 - 1912). It then shifts to color to depict the present, that is, Tokyo of the Taisho Era (1912 -1926). The name of the red light district was still the same throughout the years, Yoshiwara. Also it's honestly pretty nice and wholesome to see Zenitsu genuinely acting so sweet and kind to the young girls he was with, and was willing to defend and protect one of them even if the person he was up against was an Upper Rank demon, like that takes MASSIVE amounts of bravery, so I gotta give him props. Awwww can't really dislike a guy like that, he's honestly pretty awesome. 💛 The Madam of the Kyogoku House that was killed by Daki 2 days earlier...she was saying that she's seen an Oiran like Daki/Warabihime since she was a little girl and even throughout the years, bearing the same attitude, have similar names that end in "-hime"....she's basically implying and accusing Daki of being the same person and ofc a demon, which is all true. Daki had been the same Oiran, this same particular Oiran in Yoshiwara, throughout the years. Daki wasn't putting cardboard in her mouth LOOOL she was using very thin paper to absorb any remnant/excess lipstick on her lips, it's a makeup technique that have existed for a long time and women still use today! We use tissues to get rid of excess lipstick today hehe. 😊
