actually there was this thing which happened in discord in which everybody first proposed a game then voted the games, then for the top 5 games were spun for and until dawn won and the best part is ryan wasn't told about which game he was to play he got to now the game in the starting of the stream as it was all organized by meg

I wouldn't worry too much. He has really good mods that are pretty on top of everything. They delete anything that even has a wisp of spoilery smell. And the comments that do "get through", so to say, are mostly reactionary to things that are actively occuring on screen. There IS a lot of commentary happening, but its happening during a collective experience in real-time.

I feel like i'm alone in this but i just genuinely dislike seeing chat on screen lmao i'm not a fan of Twitch streaming for let's plays *in general* (especially for a "blind" approach, although his audience is *far* from the worst) - knowing the player is dealing with large influx of opinions and reactions in real time and acknowledges them unfortunately already takes me out, but having to see them too when watching through another platform (to try and bypass it somehow) is an even bigger pet peeve. I'm kinda ranting about something you didn't complain about but it seems like 95% of let's plays are Twitch VODs now and i feel crazy bc i don't see anyone else take issue with it 😭

@@soniaiboyako4023 Ryan does both formats! Long-form playthroughs are done by himself via youtube series, and more shortform/one-shot or community driven games are (sometimes) done on stream. This game was chosen by the community as a surprise for Ryan during the Halloween season. It wasn't planed. His wife downloaded it and set it up, and he had no idea what he was playing until he sat down and turned it on on stream. Buuuut, I get not liking an audience being there! Instead of this one, you should check out his Breath of the Wild series or one of the other more longform games he's done for the RU-vid medium instead of Twitch. They'd probably be more your speed. He's actually currently playing Return of the Obra Dinn right now, and its great seeing him pondering out the solutions and unraveling the mystery on his own.

@@rjenyawd I don't know how reliable that metric is given that What Remains of Edith Finch didn't have Twitch chat chiming in and i would categorize it as shortform? it's definitely a much shorter game than Until Dawn at least - but i understand that this was more of a surprise on his end as well. That being said idk that it matters given that this isn't something that seems to make a difference to him ultimately (Twitch live audience vs just himself playing the game). Like had he decided himself to play Until Dawn idk that he would have taken issue with doing it on Twitch, if that makes sense? Thanks for the suggestions ! I am checking out his other series, they're the reason i checked out this one too (among others). That's precisely why it's such a bummer when i see that he jumped into a game that i love and am looking forward to only to see that it's done in this format (btw i feel like i should specify just in case: when i said "95% of let's plays" i wasn't talking about his channel, i meant in general - almost every single gaming video i click on is a Twitch VOD)

@@soniaiboyako4023 i was talking in generals as well, there are obviously more factors that go into his platform decisions than just game length, but in general, lengthier, story-driven games are part of his RU-vid series. Until Dawn is actually a good example, because like you said, it doesn't really hit the "short-form" criteria, however the game lends itself to a shared experience/audience format. Like most cinematic campy horror hijinks, its best experienced in groups. (Evidenced by the other games in the same format by the same developer being designed around multiplayer and online participation). So I think you are right in guessing that Ryan would have probably chosen to play this on stream regardless. Its also very much a decision based on his personal assessment of entertainment value. There are some games he plays because he is personally interested in them (usually his youtube content) and then games that he plays because his community wants him to experience. He doesn't like horror games, and would probably never have picked this for himself to play. This, and a lot of his other spooky or heavy skill based playthroughs are pretty much a "playing it for/with my community" - type deals.

Beth says, "I'm sorry, Hannah." and drops her. She reaches for the man's hand, but falls before she can grab it. Like Dr. Hill says in the following scene, "No one can change what happened last year," indicating there was nothing you could've done to save them, then tells you that from here on out, every choice you make matters. Normally I'd be upset at having the same outcome either way, but this self-aware and universe-compliant explanation ameliorates that for me :)

Ryan's great about that! He does pause often, but it's always to share his thoughts and think through his experience, which I personally love, because that way it doesn't get lost/forgotten in the chaos of a game, and I get insight into the player's reactions :D

@@quinintheclouds i love all his ideas and theory making, and his writer mind is great at piecing clues together. Though i find he often gets more into the games when they are prerecorded. His live streams often get a bit more scattered than normal since he’s actively trying to entertain chat.
