Going in blind is the literal best choice with this film. It’s such a novel ride, and I haven’t felt quite that tense, uncomfortable, and horrified all at once in awhile.
This film, intentionally or not, hearkens back to more classic horror, i.e. it begins slow, takes time to set up the scenario and characters, and then the second half of the film takes you on a rollercoaster of well-crafted scares.
Justin Long was PERFECT casting, bc my immediate reaction was to give him the benefit of the doubt, as well. It was subversive but also representative of real life, when generally beloved celebrities are accused of horrible things and we want to defend them because of our attachments to them. Just brilliant. Barbarian is a fantastic film, blew me away in the theater! I may or may not have cried at the end for Mama, lol. 2022 has been a wild year for horror, I'm grateful to have witnessed it 🙌🏻
This movie had me fucking mindblown. It was fun as hell. Not once did I know what was gonna happen next. Potentially my favorite horror movie this year. The cinematography was amazing too. Also I kinda felt bad for basement lady at the end. Like all she wanted was to take care of her baby. Such a good mom. 😭
I did too, a little. I think it’s bc she’s not really acting out of malice, she’s so fckn mentally deficient from being so inbred that she isn’t thinking like that. Like she has nearly no mental function, except whatever that video she was made to watch probably over and over and over. I felt a little bad. I’m still lost on why she was so fckn strong though.
The only thing I knew about this film is people really liked it, how two people accidently were sharing an airbnb, Bill Skarsgard is in it, and that it was a wild ride. And now I see for myself. What a great, bonkers movie dude
It’s great that it ended like that. It sets up other movies that can dive deeper into what Richard brake’s character was etc. what the homeless guy meant by “she’s not even the worst thing Down there” leaves so many opportunities for other creations
'Something worse down there" I'm guessing that refers to Jusin Long's character in the long run.. I know it's supposed to be the serial killer, but ultimately the villain is Justan Long and the victim is the inbreed 'monster'.. I friggen love this movie
I love how this film knows how to play with our expectations! We're immediately suspicious of Bill Skarsgard, and immediately giving Justin Long the benefit of the doubt, and wrong about both!
18:25 I've watched a couple reactions and reviews about this movie, pretty much everyone I've watched either thought that "we haven't rented out in a couple of weeks" part was an error/plot hole, or just "didn't make sense that they didn't know someone is renting it". I'm subscribing because you guys understood what that meant immediately lol.
Every reactor I have seen with this film has said the same thing I did when I watched it. It felt like I was watching a movie version of a horror video game. The cinematography, setting, theme, and feeling were very similar to some of the better horror games, Madison being one of the first to come to mind.
I think my favorite part of the movie was the cinematography. The camera angles they used. The 4:3 aspect when they did that flashback. Hell the beginning with the screaming and they pan into the car and it just stops.
The Barbarian is the father and the daughter, living on Barbary Street and never left. I thought it was a clever play on words, like living in America makes you an American.
As someone who was born and raised in the City across from Detroit and has been too Detroit on Several occasions Detroit is exactly like that with boarded up houses and Squaters in those houses there are some nice neighborhoods in Detroit though .
I just found your channel, I LOVE IT! You guys are so cute. You two make it so much easier for me to watch movies I want to watch but not watch because I’m too scared to watch. ❤
even the trailer for this movie, I saw it before The Black Phone played and it does SUCH a good job of misleading you, and not reeeeeally revealing what the movie is about
This movie was one wild ride! The first act was possibly the scariest I've seen ever. The suspense the score the build up and the reveal. Perfection. Imo. But by the third act, when mama jumped off the water tower, I was all the way OUT. Literally just laughs for me and my fiance by that point. I loved Justin's acting in this. Such a douche but acting on point and the measuring of the underground square footage had me dying in the theater 🤣 Also, Keith and Tess's storyline could have been a romance if Mama didn't fuck shit up. They had genuine shared interests and chemistry. He was a real one❤️ RIP 🙏🏾
This movie was so good wasn't it?!?! Loved your guys' reaction!!! And glad you barely knew anything about it. The only thing I knew when I watched it was that two ppl got booked for the same AirBnb, and maaaaan this movie is THE BEST when you don't know anything about it. I didn't even know Justin Long was in it, and that was an excellent surprise. Also just now finding your channel, subscribed. :D
The best part about this movie is the it was written and directed by Zach Greggor from the sketch comedy group Whitest Kids You Know. RIP Trevor Moore ❤
This movie was so fun, but are we supposed to believe that generations of incest would produce something with super-strength and speed? I'd assume the opposite.
I absolutely love this movie it is one of the reasons why I don't watch trailers because you get to absolutely be surprised and this was a surprise in a great way. I believe it's called Barbarians I could be wrong but I know the house address was on like Barbory Row/Road and the people that lived in it the inbred daughter and the monster father would be the Barbarians because they live on Barbory Row/Road
I'm not shocked that they picked Detroit. Quite a few areas in most of Detroit look like a wasteland. But the Brightmoor area, I thought they revamped it recently.
Hey you two might want to check out Deadstream, which came out on Shudder a week or two ago. I thought it was funny and really good. The people who made that also made the final segment of VHS 1999. Keep up the great work!
Guys, thank you for your reaction! ❤ Please also watch Hereditary, I honestly couldn't sleep for a few days after I watched it but I'd be glad to rewatch it with you)) And also The Witch is amazing and Mandy! ❤️❤️❤️
You guys would love the movie Tusk. It’s super fucked up and it stars Justin Long as well. It is a great one and I think it would make a fabulous reaction video for you 2! Also, much love from a new subscriber and fellow Ohioan! I just found your channel about a week ago bc of your Yellowjackets reactions and I’ve binged soooo many of your videos! You guys are amazing🖤
This is my 2nd favorite horror movie of the year and the only two flaws for the movie is that the characters felt way too smart to make the decisions that they did and the ending was a bit weird with the durability of the mother but other than that loved it.
Went in kind of blind. Legit the trailer was the house the door her in the rain. The bill getting dragged. I was like wtf! Just finished watching it… gurlllll 🎃gurllll when I tell you clenched butt cheeks ! 👏🏼 😅 such a good movie.
When I first went to see this movie I was excited but I was kinda disappointed when this giant naked monster lady was the antagonist the movie grossed me out a lot😂😂😂
YESSSS>>>>>… best 2022 horror !!!!! 😎. So pumped to see this reaction video 💪 sending good vibes from Winnipeg!!!! Yes go into this film Blind if you can . Best reaction channel on RU-vid
The name Barbarian, is great. It's like the movie Parasite, where you have to figure out what you think it refers to.Also, in the movie, a secret basement as well...
