What is TIMELINES? New X4 DLC coming 2024 

You know what this reminds me of? Assassin's Creed, when it was still trying to be a cohesive franchise: plug in and relive the past, use what you discovered back in the present... those were the times.

Those interiors give some real Star Citizen vibes. Makes me wonder if they are planning to do more detailed ship interiors in the future

The updates for the base game are awesome. Not so hooked on the DLC yet. Tho I definitely will buy it eventually.

Can we take a moment to appreciate how Egosoft treats their customers? The game is a few years old now and Egosoft is still coming out with incredible updates. Other companies that shall not be E.namedA. would charge a pretty good penny and would call it a DLC, not 7.0. That's why I have all their games... I just never buy them right away when they come out, big lesson learned from a previous Egosoft game disaster.

I haven't played this in years, but look forward to getting back into it. I think I'll start clean (since I don't remember how to play anymore 😀) do the timelines to get back acquainted with this amazing game. Been playing since X2, played all the X3s, and loved X4 (we don't take about Rebirth - the only x game that I just could not enjoy in the last 15 years).

I’m very happy with the overhauled tutorials, they have made learning the game much more straightforward in terms of commonly used features

I will give the missions a chance, even though it's something I really need in the game. But honestly the free patch is so good I'll buy the DLC just to support them. I have waited for usable Xenon ships since release.

Not really keen on the main thrust of the DLC tbh. However, Egosoft's dedication to their baby means i'll likely pick up the DLC to support their efforts. I'm sure i'll enjoy messing about with some of the new ships. Assuming I don't **have** to complete the DLC scenarios to gain access to them.

X4 has been leaning more and more into story elements as time goes on and I don't think im alone when I say that the plots are the weakest element by far in the games. I really hope they dont keep leaning in this direction.

Somehow I don't like the idea that I have to get out of my savegame to play a story in order to unlock things for my savegame. Sounds like an annoying grind to me. If the Timelines woman would appear in my savegame because my ship just exploded I would find it somehow more pleasant xD and would make the universe even more "alive". If I could then jump back and forth between time lines and my timeline in the universe, it would be a dlc, so I'd say I'm up for it and have no qualms about it. So I'm very skeptical about the dlc.

I hope you can showcase all of the unlockable ships, like you usually do. Maybe you can't do all of them without spoilers i guess.

honestly, this update overall makes me happy. i look forward to that graphics update.

I'm still not sold on the DLC itself, all the things that I hear make me feel this is very disconnected from the main sandbox game, therefore adds little to no value to it. Scenarios are nice to absolute veterans of the series, but others might not care. I'm only looking forward to graphical enhancements and gameplay improvements.

I found something new. When s Ship is destroyed you can send a rescue for any survivors. I love it. I bit less afraid to send fleets to die. 😂

5:38 giving me Star Wars fps vibe, would love to see X4 get an fps offshoot. Keep the guys working on the spread sheet simulator and start a new section of Egosoft to build it of course.

So, I start one of these "quests" as a completely new game, finish them, get some reward... then load my old save and... take that reward somewhere to use in my long played universe? Kind of like downloading Ventures awards. Or...? Cpt C, you know we're going to need a lot of videos from you in the following days :D

Don't know if the timelines will be worth it for me, will still buy it. But I guess I will need to earn a bit more credits for the crises. Or maybe I ask the queen, being her herald and such. What I would really liek to see is a random universe generator though.

I really need to get back into this game....

After the first race I thought: The only thing I hate more than racing were those terran/paramid indoor labyrinth missions... And then there was the second race... If the third race adds switch puzzles on the track, I'm out... :-(

I get why people pick out elements of the game to enjoy and ignore others, but I'm like gimme it all! Every morsel. Trying to 100% x4 and Captain Collins, a.k.a. the German Kermit, gets me pumped! Thank you, Captain! Shipboard computer ready to receive new command!

I'm actually pumped for the races, I'm hoping it would be possible to make a race circuit with AI, just like making stations etc. Even if it's just time attack. Just another thing to do for fans even if it's the minority. I know this DLC didn't hit hard, but at least the 7.0 patch was great with tons of additions etc. I can't wait for them to just keep making more content. Love this game. I just want the multi-player aspect to finally work, even if it's a tuned down version kind of how you used to send fleets on mission in NMS, which is almost somewhat how the betas were working in some ways... more systems, more pirate factions, maybe a Xenon difficulty/aggression changer for a seed would be great for late game. My galaxy is either very passive or the Argon,and paranoid are too strong since they have massive carrier fleets litterally sitting on Xenon warp gates in the north etc holding them back 0 problem. I'm thinking of siding with the split to Nuke all of argon space, then nuke paranids, and see if it bring back more aggression.

If they plan to add more dlc and expansions in te future at least they should fix the aesthetics of ever hangars, pads, doors, and animations that would fit exactly to each specific race, not just generalized them to look like it was made by humans rather than specific alien race. For example is the Borron which had a unique ocean based organic architecture but the docking and hangar bays looks out of place.

For old players with big mods, I do not think the upgrade is worth it due to possible mod incompatibilities. Just do not know if for example VRO/OTAS/sector expanding mods are compatible. Non-modded, the upgrade is ok as it incorporates performance tweaks, new ships, and sectors.

An interesting story unfolds in each scenario. And I hope the next DLC will be Fleet Commander and Wargame.

Thank you for the overview. Without knowing how the DLC scenarios contribute to the sandbox, I do not see any reason to buy it at full price. Goodness knows that half of the available DLC just reintroduces content from X3 in the current game.

Is races really completely new… as far as i remember a race is part of the quest to get the casino station modul.

I was sceptical at first, but I really like the Idea of the DLC. I also like theese expanded more vast rooms of the station (or ship?) and that you can interact more with rooms,/quarters. These look so much better than what we had before. Another thougt: Could this DLC make some kind of multiplayer scnenarios in a future version of "timelines" possible? For example, think of two players with equivalent fleets fighting , or racing against each other.

Guys, how to restore my own station? It was destroyed by xenon and now i have gray plot with station name and alive building storage.

Sooo... Once you complete a scenario of Timelines, the special ships will become available in all open-universe playthroughts...or just the active, or just new ones?

This will be the first ever DLC that I will not buy, couldn't care less about new single player missions. 7.0 Update (Beta) though is very good and I like it.

I’m happy to see some significantly different content than usual - I think this will be a fun way to re-explore the game. Perhaps a good gateway drug to get back into the main universe..

I definitely am interested in reliving the past lore, however I will wait and see if you can actually unlock all of the past ships/capital ships and use them, otherwise not interested in this DLC.

Can the next update be focused on fixing & optimizing the game, and improving the AI?

So wish I could play this to its fullest. I really love the space station building, but I always get to a certain point and my CPU overheats and it shuts off. Must be my play style cause it happened on my Alienware from about 5-6 years ago and my newer AMD rig. Just completely overheats and others have said it happens to them as well.

This looks wonderful. I've been an X Gamer from the beginning. Not only do the new tutorials sound like a big upgrade, but the stand alone missions can provide a more "advanced tutorial" feel, with actual rewards. Both these should allow hesitant purchasers to finally take the plunge. The X universe has always been an experience like no other, but it's biggest problem was its old school learning curve. More new players and more purchasers will most likely benefit everyone. I'll never forget the feeling of accomplishment I had in the first X game when I built my very first station. I can't wait until this launches.

New Xenon ships and some that we can own. It's cool. But is there some new ships for the other main races?

when 1 ship explodes, the wreck does not have to stay together, this is the death of the game in the scoring 4:27 I'm surprised they couldn't fix this.🤬🤬🤬🤬

Honestly think egosoft really missed the mark on this DLC, the majority of players don't want this, new players aren't going to be jumping over themselves to buy this tutorial DLC. Great that they're trying to bring in new players but this really isn't the way in my opinion, probably the only DLC i won't buy.

You can skip to 8:56 to get actual useful information in the form of patch notes. The rest is just story BS.

X4 is awesome have over 800hrs in it. But I feel like Egosoft is confused who their customers are. This game is a sandbox empire building/ economic simulator. This gets a 👎🏻 from me and I hope the next one focuses on making the base game better, more mechanics, interiors to big ships etc… o well…

So many people complaining about an optional dlc. Seems fun.

This is a pointless DLC. I have never played any of the stories in this game. I just want my sandbox logistical simulator to work and work well. When you have a game this old and people that play it still NEED mods to make it playable, refusing to fix the problems the game has, then that is just not cool. The UI needs work, the AI needs to actually work and the late game neeeeeds optimization, a lot!

Not gonna buy it. Hope Egosoft is going to learn from this failure

Useless DLC. Egosoft is terrible with narration. Even IF ships will be good, I will use a save game or a mod to unlock them. Otherwise no money from me.

Let's be honest: Timelines DLC is bad, very bad. It providea some good rewards for participating in boring missions (except few ones). The racing is especially boring and out of the general game concept, because X4 has around 5-6 racing missions across plots and research. and only one was good and fun to play (the research for engine improvements, required some skill and actual speed), the rest were boring as hell and generally bad because game's engine made for combat and space travel, not actually racing in small area, where basic speed is too low, while boost is too fast so you have to go back to hit the mark so race continue to next stage. I don't understand, why Egosoft decided it would be a good idea to place a few absolutely limited missions into game that is loved for freedom of action and ways of achieving the goal? Why not to post the same scenarios as part of some new plot? Like, they could have tell us new story of Aldrin sector and how they survived gate shutdown by siding with local branch of Xenon, who let's say, evolved into something mor human-compatible, they could have introduce not just new argon faction, but also friendly Xenon branch - a true hope for a peace in the galaxy afetr centuries of mutual destruction! Or maybe, we could see another kha'ak invasion that will end in a finally contact and peace agreement (or another crusade against them), sho if not Boso Ta can solve the mystery of kha'ak and how to contact with them? Ot maybe we can find a rerouted gate and a completely new race behind it and as usually it will end with a war of a first contact (as almost all first contacts in X universe started).Or we could have seen goners return with news about new systems, lost terraformed but unsettled terran colonies, where terraformers never made it to Xenon stage and just degraded to rust and dust soon after completion of their mission? Or maybe more about sonnen and their mission in the galaxy... So many possibilities, yet we get something undercooked, like the best pieces and ideas from past now gathered into sketches in form of a missions. Not even talk about bugs 7.0+ versions created, dozens of mods broken by innocent changes in UI, yet the weakest parts of the basic game still not fixed or even made worse than they were in 6.0 (for me defence drones AI now completely dead, they create endless queues and block stations for S ships. including new game starts). fleets and drones were so good after fixes introduced in 6.0+, now we are back to primordial times until 7.20 patch (7.10 is on beta stage, but not likely will fix all the problems). I am so dissapointed, this DLC is huge step back for X4: Foundations. I hope, the Egosoft will not stop and will introduce something new, but better than Timelines. X4 after all is the best game of series and everything we ever dreamed of since X2 and Freelancer games.
