i had one of these put in my neck last year. i don't have in anymore, it left an ugly scar on my neck but i'm extremely grateful that it's gone. to me the trach symbolizes a period in which my life turned into a nightmare. good luck to those who are dealing with this themselves, or have a family member that is
I just wanna say a huge thank you for the video. My dad was in the ICU with a 5% chance of survival. He beat it and is now in a normal room. Along the way he had to get the trachestomy. This was a great way for me to figure out more about it and that it really can be removed! Thank you and I will be sharing this video with my family.
@@itsyourboiboiii1248 its been quite some time since my dad had it and it took about a month but he fully recovered his voice and its like its never been there minus a scar.
@@rocknmetalultima hi, my mom has this tracheostomy for 5 months. What are the suggestable ways to get out of tracheostomy. She is not able to talk, it is stressful
The hospital called me saying that my brother, who is intubated there in the Burn Unit, had failed the breathing test they gave him this morning and wanted permission to do a tracheotomy if he fails again tomorrow.
I looked this up to see what was done to me a in April 2021 when I was in the ICU with covid-pneumonia. I recovered and it's been a year. I was in the ICU for 6 weeks then went to a nursing home/rehab because my muscles had atrophied (shrunk up) due to lack of use and I couldn't even sit on my own yet. 4 weeks later exactly I was discharged with a walker and I'm using it less and less now.🙌
So helpful. Simple. And straight to the point. Plus I’m childish and literally need my entire nursing program to be taught in animation. Then I’d pass with flying colors.
wow just watched pop smokes murder they rushed him in for this but he was to far gone r.i.p god bless people wow go through tough circumstances like this
First year I had this topic and I listened to it and I aced it , I am back 2weeks go to my second year exams it's part of the syllabus and am just happy am gonna ace it again . Thank you Sir
why this tube is not replaced in the nasal cavity instead of the throat?! , IDK,I think by this the air will not be dry for lunges and the patient still have his voice . I think!
Over the recent few months at stages my tracheotomy tube stoma seems to be irritating and I have tried everything I could think of to have the issue resolved instead of going to doctor first. The pain still persists every so often. Hard to explain type of pain. I have had a tracheostomy since birth.
This showed the love to serve and love by the the founder since it has saved a lot of souls. Also I think it's a pleasure for the workers who insert it because if ur not chosen, u can't manage doing it therefore to the doctors, I request that keep the fire burning and will be appreciated by the creater. God bless you comrades
I had a stroke a couple years ago and i have a question if anyone had a traqueostomy i still have a lot of. Please help i don't like to have verbal conversations unless i have to but this is overwhelming i don't know what else to do
Anyone have experience with the Passy Muir Speaking Valve? After a few short months my 77-year-old sister is hardly able to use it anymore because it irritates her throat. Sad. Could this have been due to treatment shortcomings? Such as insufficient humidification or suctioning. Or is this to be expected with frequent use over a few months? I really miss our phone calls.
I thought you had to wait three days for it to be removed not one???? My mom had this last year and my dad fought for it to be removed and she's doing fine now.
I had a trach and still have the scar on my throat. After watching this I must have had the trach placed down lower since my scar is really low on my neck. People used to have to read my lips since I was a quadriplegic at the time. I would stick my tongue out every time i wanted to deflat the cuff so i could talk for a little while.
I'm in the middle of a passing the buck game between the ent and the pulmonologist as to which one of them should be taking steps towards decannulation me. Pulmonologist said ent should do it and the ent says that the pulmonologist needs to do testing to see if I'm even a candidate for decannulate. I just got back from the ent who told me to bring a fenestrated size 4 in order to start capping it BUT then said he didn't know that I use a "fancy machine" aka non invasive ventilator at night and I would not be able to use the machine with the fenestrated trache. So, I got nothing done today but aggravation and I have the same stinking trache in for 6 months! Iswear I am ready to decannulate myself . As of that ent appt. I took my oxygen off....I dont care anymore.
A 41-year-old man who was involved in a serious car accident and suffers from facial trauma is rushed to the emergency room and an extensive neck, including a fractured jaw, several broken teeth and a walking cervical hematoma and grew up Two intubation attempts failed due to extensive bleeding and a change in anatomy (due to the fractures). The attempt at breathing with a balloon was unsuccessful due to airway resistance to pressing the balloon. How is it best to treat this patient now? 1) 100% oxygen mask 2) Oxygen goggles until another intubation attempt can be made 3) Cricothyroidotomy 4) Tracheostomy
@Selena, what has been your experience with the Passy Muir Speaking Valve? After a few short months my 77-year-old sister is hardly able to use it anymore because it irritates her throat. Sad.
My mother was stroke and placed to ICU hospital for 2 months. She is Whole body Paralized since then in ICU after that that we spend a lot of money but nothing recoveries towards her. and doctors suggested that she must be in traceostomy to survive and we accepted it However after several months She is very Weak bones are now seen unlike before, We feel the pain thats she's suffering and now we're now praying to God to better get her now than to suffer everyday and everynight ,,,,worse nightmare in our family this 2021
Do we downsize and later remove my dad's tracheostomy tube because he has been on it for 2years plus now, but he has not started walking, eating through his mouth and talking yet.
