So his favorite plays aren't his highlights, his favorite plays are the ones where he created opportunity for his teammates to make plays. Always been a class act.
There are no safeties since he’s retired with the same level instincts that Troy had. Timing, acceleration, instinct, will was unmatched. Miss the days of Troy and Ed at safety. There’s some great safeties today, but none are close to those two.
@johnnyringo2690 "fake credit" bro that's a lineman job is to block bigger dudes than Troy. And did u actually watch what haopened? He was literally in position, blocking his assignment, then Troy came in and hit both linemen. The OL started peeling peeling off his first block to focus on troy, then engaged w Troy, went to readjust his feet and fell down. That's full credit to Troy there stop hating lmao. He's the one that knocked OL off balance to get his feet out of place to begin with
@@johnnyringo2690yeah because he was expecting to double team a DT on his left, then that dt stunted and the safety came barreling down on his right side
@@johnnyringo2690fake credit 😂? He knocked him on his ass. That’s factual. Don’t matter why. He did that to another grown man who’s only job is to prevent that
As a diehard Ravens fan I hate the Steelers with a passion. But you can’t say a mean word about Troy. It was truly amazing to watch him and Ed Reed set the standard for the safety position for so many years. Troy would be my number one SS of all time while Ed is the best FS of all time.
As a sports fan period...some of my favorite all time players were the guys who were my favorite teams menace for years. As fans we love to have someone to hate. At the end of their careers, we're sad to see them go because even though we hated admitting it, we loved watching them, and it made victory so much sweeter when we got one over on them, because we knew we beat an absolute demon on the other side.
As a Steelers fan, watching Ed Reed on one side and Troy Polamalu on the other was outstanding in itself, let alone the battles both those defenses put up against each other. Man was that rivalry fun to watch growing up. Even though the fans and teams may have hated each other through the rivalry I feel like there was always a mutual respect at the same time with how good those defenses were.
Greatest Steelers Safety EVER!!!!! Loved his on and off field presence!! My mom dressed a doll up to look like him and drove him around everywhere she went!! She was a HUGE Steelers Fan for all of her 78 years😢 I miss watching the games with her and hope to be a fan as long as she was!!
I have him rank 2nd all-time at safety only behind Ed Reed and to be honest I can’t complain with people that have him one and this coming from a die hard Ravens fan 💯💯💯🔥🤧
what has Ed Reed done against Steelers during that world famous rivalry yall shared? Only 2 memorable plays by Ed Reed against Steelers in that time. 1. Getting trucked by Hines & 2. Getting smashed by Harrison. Troy on the other hand.. well, you can go watch the tapes. When the game is on the line, theres one safety thats the safest bet. Thats #43 Troy Polamalu. All-round safety. Can do what Ed does and SOME@@cornpopwasabaddudeandhehad4737
@@Lrod0323 ever see the 1981 playoff game highlights against the Houston Oilers? The Icicles hanging off the field goal posts for one. Pittsburgh does get snow and for snow to actually happen it must freeze. Hence the frozen part. ✌️🥺🤔
@@gallusdomesticus5478 , so Pittsburgh is located in South Florida now? Ok I get it. Not! No one stated they had it worse? Again it does get cold in Pittsburgh in the winter. Maybe you've never stopped by in January & February. It is the North East after all & Hence my FROZEN TUNDRA PART! 😎👍✌️
I’m a ravens fan and even I miss this dude. He was one hell of an athlete and super entertaining to watch. I will never forget that one handed pick that was so close to the ground they weren’t gonna give it to him. That catch was probably the prettiest thing I’ve ever seen in an NFL game.
This is why Troy is my all-time favorite steelers and the only jersey I will never get rid of. He is the definition of kind, selfless, and determination. ❤
Can you give a humbler answer then that? I say not! Wow this man's integrity is second to none. Glad I got to watch him every Sunday! Black 'n Gold 4ever!🖤💛🖤💛🖤💛🖤💛
As a Ravens fan, you can never hate Troy, dude was goated and deserves respect, that acceleration was always unreal. him and ed reed are a super close debate for GOAT safety
I think people are already forgetting how unbelievably amazing Troy was. He was in his prime when I was growing up and I just remember seeing some of the plays he made and being shocked that someone could actually play like that. He was 1 of 1.
Die hard Ravens fan but I miss Troy and all those battles with the Steelers. I respect the Hell out of Pittsburgh and I especially respect Troy. Class act, 100% heart and soul given on every play, instincts and explosiveness like a wild cat, one of the greatest people and players in NFL history (imo). Ravens Vs Steelers back then will always be a special time for me and Troy was a big part of that. Class and football grit through and through. HOF'er on and off the field!
Im not even a Steelers fan, but I miss watching Troy out on that field. Him and Heinz Ward will always be 2 of my favorite players of all time. Coming from a Chargers fan
There’s one thing for sure.. anytime anyone talks about Pittsburgh football of the past Troy is ALWAYS brought up! He will always be remembered as one of the greatest to ever do it at the safety position!
the way troy talks about the game always gets me a little teary eyed just because if you understand the love he has for the game and how much it meant to him to be a steeler it always gets me emotional
The way he was thinking in the field is why Pittsburgh has so much success. We truly didn’t deserve Troy. Amazing person, and great football player. Thank you Troy for the good ole days.
Just unreal. An absolute class act. Im a Chiefs fan but it was a privilege waching him as a young dude. Thats why I will always use Head n Shoulders even though i didnt have dandruff. Now that Mahomes is in there with him? I put that shit on my steak. Love these dudes
Most respectable player ever. Even his answer was super humble. Such a great dude. I’m so happy to be a fan of this franchise. People can talk all they want. Win or lose, die hard Steelers fan for life.
Troy was a Magnificent Player. This is a Man that did not play for Money. He is a True Testament to Players WHO ❤ the Game. He wasn't a Poser like Deion Sanders. Troy could hit and CREATE plays and shock you with his Football Intellect. But even then it didn't Shock YOU because YOU knew TROY could make those plays .... And the Sportscaster was like That's Just Troy! Did you see that ... One of the Greatest Steelers / NFL Ambassadors you could ever meet!
Troy is LEGEND. I am a lifelong Steelers fan and his jersey is the only one I have ever purchased. Humble, team guy, smarter than the rest of the league and the physical ability to turn games singlehandedly.
I ❤ TROY!! On and off the field!! I live in Pittsburgh and every Saturday every week he would go and order 20 large pizzas🍕 and deliver it to the homeless on the streets!! I was driving by and couldn't believe it was him.. so i talked with him and he has a huge heart!! THANK YOU TROY!! PITTSBURGH LEGEND!!!
As someone who cant stand the Steelers. Troy Polamalu has always been one of my favorite players I have had the privilege to watch. Dude is such a great guy and was a beast on the field.
Absolute fking Legend !!! One of the greatest and most universally beloved players in Steeler history. WE MISS YOU TROY !!! The few times that Troy messed up, or came up short.... we didn't care lol. Because we knew that he gave every single play 100% of his mind and body. If there was a play to be made, I want this guy covering it. Every time. I'll take my chances and I'll live with the results.
I feel him. In my own life I have noticed that often the things that have brought me the greatest joy and sense of pride have been the times I’ve lent a hand in others success. Often unnoticed by most, they still just made me feel better than even my own accomplishments.
Everybody just LOVES them some Troy Polamalu...!! I miss him on the field. God bless big fella! Thank you for the fun and excitement you brought to the game!!
His fave plays are when he helps his teammates get things done, and he has the awareness to realize the play clocks at 1 and he just goes for it! Wish we had more players, heck , MORE PEOPLE with his attitude and attention to detail.....
I do miss seeing him on the field. He just was built different. Those catches, interceptions, sacks, tackles, and all kinds of wild stuff. He was just next level.
Iam a diehard Baltimore Ravens fan and I gotta tip my hat to the one guy who disrupted so many Ravens-Steelers games, to Steeler wins, you gotta love this guy. Damm it. 👍👍
As a jags fan i can say with confidence troy was a jack of all trades he literally is in the conversation for one of the greatest defensive players of all time he was everywhere
and he's right, the box score doesn't show it but that was his read, his play, his impact. He really did seem to have an elevated sense for how football got played.
My pops talks about Troy Polamalu everytime we watch football, wishing for there to be anyone even close to as crazy as he was. Miss 00s football so bad. The safeties were legendary.
I loved watching play! Loved it!!! Hated him when he played my team but loved him as a player and love him even more now that he’s retired. The nfl misses this man.
I got the privilege to work at his home residence. The most wholehearted family ever. I had a 35 minute conversation about grunge rock with him and his wife. It’s so surreal to even think about now.
Troy was so amazing to watch tape on, because his decision making was instantaneous. So much of what he did was improvised or against their called play, but he was just soooo good at reading and recognizing the play, that he was 100% a wild card. So hard to plan for that. Also, probably one of the biggest reason his later seasons felt like he fell off so hard, because the mind is still working at a pace the body wasn’t capable of any more. Still such an amazing player.
Plays for the team not for himself in a world where self accomplishments are praised and superstars are born. Troy is a True team player... And this is coming from Baltimore raised Ravens fan. Troy was just different..
And that's why teams troy was on won Superbowls. He did whatever it took to win and didn't care if he was the one getting the glory. As long as they won.
Need him on more podcasts. He is my all time favorite player, and the reason I played football in the first place. I want to know so much more about him and his way of thinking and just hope he’s doing good now
