And it get's even more interesting when you get to know other aspects of norwegian culture, one-night stands for example: if you try smalltalk with someone on the t-bane they'll literally think you're crazy but that same day at night you may see them going to bed with a total stranger.

Dutch Lion Not in my country, if you get wasted then obviously you increase your chances of ending up in bed with strangers no matter which country you are, but here in Norway that's particularly frequent and so is that when sober, the average Norwegian is extremely shy and socially sensitive towards strangers. I find both things very contradictory, that's my point.

@brandonduet7771
@brandonduet7771 6 лет назад
Sean O'Sullivan i understand what you are going through. We need to train our ears to recognize every syllable. We do this by watching movies and videos, but it seems many of them jump from one dialect to the next. One movie is a different dialect from another. Even the people in this video were doing it. Hard to find straight bokmål.
@seanosull2884
@seanosull2884 6 лет назад
Yes, I guess we just have to accept the fact that bokmål is simply a written language that resembles the spoken language of middle/upper-class Oslo and even they have some differences in the way they speak. Films and TV series are great. Also music which is sung in their dialect can also be useful. If you are not keen on earning Nynorsk but would like to familiarize yourself with it to an extent, I would recommend the poetry of Olaf Hauge. My girlfriend bought me his book with cross the page translation but i would challenge myself to translate without any help. And it helped me see that Nynorsk is not a million miles from Bokmål and I have become more accustom to dialects in the Nynorsk regions as a result of reading his amazing poetry.
