Think MS is doing sneaky stuff since this upload! The HP with windows 11 home i got for my wife 2 days ago is just trying to sell me 11 pro.. :( .. New method must be needed since all uploads i can find are the same with the same problem for me at end..
@Dom Janeczko yeah I was thinking my wife had her Microsoft accounts mixed up. We have 5-6 systems always running between us and the kids. Guy at the store got upset that he couldn't even work it out and then swapped it for 1 worth a lil more for no extra charge. Win win in the long run.
Thank you so much!! I learned how to remove it but got nervous after the "you can not pass!" and go back, which made me nervous. It's on my daughter's new laptop and I'm trying to get it ready for Christmas morning. I am too stupid to do so but you've made me feel better about it. For what she needs, we definitely need it off. I can't thank you enough. I hope you have a wonderful holiday and new year!
I am glad you found the video to be helpful. You are not stupid at all, Microsoft tries to scare consumers needlessly and lots of people are not aware of this. Happy New Year/Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones!
I thought I purchased a computer that moment my usage. I was so frustrated with the S mode! I needed to install a PDF on my computer, but couldn’t find one that worked with my system. Thank you so much for your video. It was simple and easy to follow, even for senior citizens like myself😅😁
I'm a advanced computer user, but this goes to show you can always learn more as I just purchased a laptop for my mother that came in Windows 11 S mode. I printed out instructions just thought I'd watch a few videos to make sure I'm doing it correctly and it is simple and straightforward thanks to your video. Keep up the good work my friend. Thank you
You are the absolute best in explaining this. I couldn’t follow any of the others that tried to explain this.…so glad your channel came up. You should teach this. I’ve subscribed to your channel and hope to learn more. Thank you for your help!!!
Something has changed, brand new HP laptop with windows 11 home 2 days old out of box from Jb-hifi Australia.. Only try's to sell me pro... All turn off s mode videos are useless from what i see.. F@ck you Microsoft :( .... Had no problems with the laptops from 2 years ago. My pro windows 10's desktop builds where done as said back when i built them
You seriously need to be more famous because you make very good quality videos and reviews without makeing the videos very long and boring. Thanks for being awesome 👌
Thank you for such a detailed, and easy to understand video. I’ve been looking for a new laptop, and keep seeing people being this up in reviews. I definitely do NOT want what is essentially a chrome book.
Thank you so much. I really needed this video because I wanted to download things outside of the Microsoft store but was worried about what that would mean.
Thanks for this excellent explanation! I especially like how you explained the pros and cons of keeping or getting out of S mode. I wanted to make sure it would be safe to get out of S mode and you did a great job of answering my question. Thank You!!
I just had to say thank you so much for this video!! I thought I was going to go crazy with this frustrating "S mode". This is a very helpful and useful video.
Thank you for the informative video! We are grandparents but don’t need S Mode. We appreciate your clear explanation of S Mode and why it’s safe to disable it.😂
Great video, great explanation and appreciate the video. My dad wants to buy a laptop and I noticed it had Win11 S mode and didn't know what that was. I think for my dad's purpose I may leave S mode enabled for extra protection. Thanks again.
Hi dear I have hp amd ryzen and I want to disable s mode in windows 11 . I did the way you show in your video it doesn’t help me in my setting when I go to activation and Get option button is not working . Can you please help me out . Thank you
So this is a problem I’m facing, I had a Lenovo idea pad literally today and it wouldn’t let me switch out of that. Every time I hit “go to Microsoft store” I never got the get button to show up. Only when I tried to download a non Microsoft app did I get the prompt to switch out of s mode, then it would take me to the store and show me the get button only to not do anything when I clicked it. I thought it could have been the laptop, so I just bought a new one about an hour ago. Set it up and tried to switch out of s mode and when I click s mode in the activation settings, it doesn’t expand at all or give me the link to the store. So I tried to go and get the get button by downloading a non Microsoft app to get the prompt telling me to switch out of s mode. Which worked but when I click on the “get” button it still doesn’t work.
I think that it may help with security and speed. I also think it's possible they did this so anyone who buys a pc with S mode will only be able to use apps that are in the windows store. Why did they make it so we can not undo it though even with a factory reset. That part doesn't make sense to me
When I get to the S mode it says. To install apps that aren't verified by Microsoft store and to get Windows updates, go to the store and exit the S mode. This change is permanent then there's the open store button. When I hit the open store button, I get the screen it says switch out of S mode and has the blue get button. Clicking it, a dialog box appears to install your app or game and remove a device from your account. Ten of your devices have apps and games from the store already installed on them. That's the limit remove a device to make room for the new one, and then it has to remove the device. Clicking on that, the window comes up Microsoft store device management, and it has all the computers I've owned, and at the bottom of that, there's a button that says go to Microsoft store, and then it just shows apps. When I type in S mode, it brings me back to the screen that says to switch out of S mode. With the green get button. Then here's where the circle starts again. The dialog box comes up that says to install your app or game and remove the device from your account. Then I get the page that says Microsoft store device management nothing about S mode.
Hi... My PC is still stuck in S mode and the screen says that "weve encountered a problem" sending me to a feedback reporting page instead. I reorted the issue and im still awaiting a response. Ive been trying your way to get past this since you released it and nothing works. What do you think? Im literally stuck using S mode or nothing else. Help if you can.
here is how i did it. i tried everything on youtube but nothing worked. you need to reset the pc or laptop completely after that continue with instalation. then when asked to sign in just click i have no account and enter a name just name then click next, later on you need internet connection sign in but do not click connect automatically, after accept the extra options like location and diagnostics all of them when done installing do not do anything except going straight to the microsoft store from the start menu and nothing else go to switch s mode and select get. it will ask to sign in your ms account then sign in but only then. after that it either you will get error message because you would get disconnected (reconnect internet_ )and try again that is how it worked for me I believe there is something wrong with newer version of the store. if you try to download anything and run it it would start ms store update and run it newer version of crap store. i hope this will help
I love your instructions. You made it so easy for me to follow and I got through it like a breeze. S mode sucks, and if I can't download what I want on the laptop I paid for I don't need it.
This is the ONLY video that people need to see. Hands-down ! This is the best comprehensive and user-friendly, and easy to understand and step-by-step tutorial. I watched other videos - and this is the VERY BEST video out there for this topic which is a very important topic. Thank you for your video. I followed your video step-by-step, and it was so easy to understand, and it was extremely effective. And they did exactly what you said it would do. Thank you very much. Please keep doing your videos. They are very informative and they are also very very user-friendly. If they were giving stars for RU-vid tutorial how to videos on topics like this - I would give it 10 STARS 🌟 out of 5.
Thanks for this video. You went straight to the point, and I was afraid to remove the s mode because I was afraid that it would cause some type of issue with my computer, but I'm not afraid anymore to hit that Get button.😬
@@Nollywood64 I was also afraid to switch out of S-Mode, I have been trying to decide for the past 3 months. This video helped a lot, and I'm sure I will be switching out of S-Mode. I just need to make sure I know which apps are certainly holding viruses. I'm so glad I found this video when I did, my friend was also asking me if S-Mode was worth it, now I know what to tell her. :D
@@cup1d199 Hi. I don't have any regrets. You may have to get a virus protector, I think it's called McAfee...that may be wrong. I have to work from home and I couldn't get my jobs app when I was in S-mode, and now I can. Thanks for your response 🙂
Thank you, im buying a laptop for my parents and while they are not tech savvy they do prefer some non microsoft apps. I did not want to teach them to use the microsoft alternative. This video was very concise yet still contain the information i was looking for in regards to what exactly the S mode is and how to turn it off with a visual guide (as their laptop will not be in english)
Thank you SoulOfTech, this is eloquently said. I appreciate the care and patience you took to thoroughly assist others step by step! Now I can join my zoom to see my fam and friends in Trinidad!!!!
hii, i need help, i cannot switch out s mode on windows 11, the ''GET'' button is missing on ms store but in activation setting the S mode is still active, can anyone help how to fix this ? thanks
Very helpful and concise, thank you. About to go help my neighbor get rid of this "only our products or else" mode on his new laptop so he can get the programs he needs.
hello, I have a small issue. I discovered this ''Get'' button to switch out of S mode yesterday, I clicked on it hoping it would be removed in seconds or a couple of minutes, but it just kept saying ''Working on It'' for an entire night and even more hours since I let it working, went to bed and when I woke up it was still ''Working on It''. Please answer, I don't know what to do. Thanks.
If it still hasnt done it, try closing the Microsoft store app if it will let you, and then go back in and try again If it wont let you, then try rebooting the computer, and then go back in and try again
I was getting ready to return my HP with Windows 11 in S mode because it wouldn’t let me install my printer. THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS VIDEO! I was so stressed out and almost in tears I was so frustrated with my computer lol
I actually believe that S Mode is good idea for the not tech savy, maybe your grandparents and kids. But not for everyone else it is very limited, if my mother didn't use spss and other similar software I would be very happy to have S mode in her computer, she has given me the greatest troubleshooting challenges throughout the years.
I'm kind of both... I'm not particularly tech savvy, but I know not to open or install unknown things. I just bought an Authentrend fingerprint sensor from Amazon but I can't use it because of S mode. So I'm considering turning it off... but I haven't decided yet.
You read my mind! I was hesitant to turn S mode off because I thought it would mess up my laptop. I searched for minutes and was unsuccessful to find the information I needed until I came across this video.
Can any1 help please great video everything works but my app store won't load up because I can't connect to Internet because the drivers will not update because of safe mode . Help yhanks
Thank so much i was worried about buying a laptop with windows 11 s mode but not being able to download steam and play couple of games. You made it seem so easy and straight to the point!
This is the best RU-vid description video I've seen in almost a decade probably. It should be used in classes about how to make this sort of video. I don't usually comment but I can't stress enough how much everyone in RU-vid who does this needs to learn from you how to make a real helpful tech video
My issue is that I turned it off, but after a certain update, it turned right back on, which I don’t get, since it’s a “one way and never go back” type of thing. How do I fix this issue?
This doesn't work for a local account, you have to sign up for an account. I refuse to sign up for a Microsoft account. I also refuse to sign up my minor child under 18 for a Microsoft account. So genius......how do we use a new computer without a Microsoft account? Didn't think so.
"That usually puts us in the grandma or grandpa category" Hey, I am 43 and I am not tech savvy either. Lol. Seriously, Thank you for helping me get out of s mode.
Okay, let's say I want/need to download some non-Microsoft-Windows-owned things and have to take off "S" Mode, and once I do that, I can't go back if I want to download or renew any subscription for any MS/Windows. However, is it still possible (after leaving S Mode) to download any MS/Windows product via a search engine, or from physical software with a key card that I'd purchase from a store?
The big thing I want to know is for all gamer out there: does s mode make games run smoothly, and is your computer at risk of failure I'd you turn it off?
Awesome, thanks. I'm annoyed with myself for not finding a great video like this and getting this done quick. Clearly a little scam by Microsoft to try to keep people in their stuff (e.g., Edge), vs. much better options.
THANK YOU SO MUCH! I’m definitely subscribing now! Now I can play sims 4! I was up last night in TEARS I had bought a hp computer just to play the sims 4 and it kept telling me I had to switch out of s mode but I didn’t know what it was!
If you PC is new... return it and get one that does not have S mode. Ask for that specifically. Walmart employees won't have a clue. Go to Office Max. Their prices are competitive
After i press "open store" the store opens but it tells me that something went wrong and all i get is a whitescreen i tried alot of stuff nothing happened plzzzz helpp
Except..............It wants me to open a Microsoft account. I don't want or need one. Do I absolutely HAVE to open one just to get out of this accursed 'S Mode' ?
