My favorite movie is Ratatouille, because I love rats and I love they how speak their voices, it reminds me of my childhood. Or Finding Dory, I feel like it’s because dory finds her family and I just loved Dory and her voice Ellen Degeneres, because she’s my favorite comedian and actress. I would also pick The little Mermaid as well, because Ariel is in love with Eric, it brings happy endings, and Ursula has the best voice ever, I love how she danced.

coincidentally I just watched the deer hunter before reading this comment. Needless to say it is a brilliant movie with DeNiro's best performance arguably
Bad Boy Bubby, Tetsuo The Iron Man, Silence Of The Lambs, Pan's Labyrinth, American History X , Martyrs, Time Bandits, Ichi The Killer, Alien, Persepolis, One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, Frankenstein/The Bride Of Frankenstein (I added both of them because they're equally just as good great,) Videodrome, Night Of The Living Dead, Dawn Of The Dead, What Ever Happened To Baby Jane?, Requiem Of A Dream, I Married A Strange Person and last It's All Gone Pete Tong.
I'm a movie buff and "12 Monkeys" by Terry Gilliam is my favourite movie of all time. It has everything, suspense, surrealism, great plot, amazing plot twist, cool characters and cool easter eggs. It's like the perfect film in the sci-fi genre.
Hehehe I actually thought you were talking about the movie '12 angry men' - 1957. It's a good one! I haven't seen 12 monkeys, but I don't like the freemason/satanic one-eye symbology on the cover that's for sure.
@@bethechangebevegan853 12 angry men is a masterpiece, rewatched it a couple of months ago and still loved it as much as I did the first time. 12 Monkeys is a good movie as well imo.

@@matthewraphael And they are...? Also, what's up with people putting Pulp Fiction first, not that's it's terrible, but I was expecting a lot more nuanced rankings here. Last also, why do people like Taxi Driver so much? It's really not that great.

@@matthewraphael Alright, let’s do something a bit more interesting. What is your top 10 movies with the best soundtrack. I think this is a little harder question.
Interesting. It was enjoyable, some good action & acting, nice neo-western, but I didn't find it had much to it. Not much substance, in terms of story/writing.
Life of pi, prisoners, goodfellas, taxi driver, catch me if you can, forrest gump, coach carter, good will huntig and saving private ryan are one of my favourite movies

@@michaelcera9104 it’s not really disturbing. J.K Simmons character just does a really good job at portraying his character and the movie itself is perfect!
@@spacerobot4068 I’m just wondering how this guy relates to the movie so much. Because What happens to the main character isn’t necessarily such a great thing. Last bit depends on how you look at it

Especially the Moria sequence. It's unforgettable. Fun fact: Gandalf should have said "You can not pass" to Barlog, but the actor made a mistake and said "You shall not pass". But it worked pretty well and Peter Jackson left it that way.

Some people are doing their top 10, so here I go: 1. The Prince of Egypt. (1998) Reason: I love Biblical epics, so movies like The Ten Commandments, Ben-Hur, The Passion of the Christ go here, as do Christian movies like The Apostle, Silence, and Lilies of the Field. As a Christian who is a film buff, I find all of these movies to be moving and powerful. As for POE, it's a beautiful, animated movie that never fails to blow me away. This is my desert island movie. 2. Life Itself. (2014) Affirms why I love movies so much, and the info. on Roger Ebert is beyond fascinating to me. 3. 2001: A Space Odyssey. (1968) This movie is the ultimate movie EXPERIENCE. You don't watch it, you experience it. Scenes like the Stargate Sequence always put me in a trance and awe. 4. Citizen Kane. (1941) The greatest movie of all time for its achievements in filmmaking, a great, suspenseful story (I've seen it 4 times and the story still keeps me hooked), and in my opinion it has the best acting ever put on screen. I do like The Prince of Egypt, Life Itself, and 2001 more, but when it comes to movies as a whole medium, no film tops Citizen Kane. 5. The Courtship of Eddie's Father. (1963) The best family movie I have ever seen. I saw half of this on TCM one Thanksgiving and I was delighted by it the whole time. I bought the DVD and loved it nearly as much. I wish I saw this way before I was in my 20s! 6. Toy Story. (1995) While this is really more of a spot for all of my favorite animated movies, but this is easily my favorite non-Biblical one. I watched this tons of times as a kid, so much so that I may have seen it literally over 100 times. It still holds a special place in my heart, and so even though I'm an adult, it earns a spot in my top 10 favorite animated movies. 7. My Fair Lady. (1964) This is a spot for my favorite musicals, but no musical tops My Fair Lady. With great songs, costumes, and just a lavish production as a whole, there is no musical more "loverly" than this, and it's one of the best movies of all time. 8. Lake of Fire. (2006) As a person captivated by the abortion debate, I had to see this movie. It shows both sides, and even though I oppose abortion I must say I was challenged by this movie, and I couldn't stop thinking about it after I saw it. (Warning: There are 2 live abortion procedures in this movie.) 9. The Night of the Hunter. (1955) I went into this movie not knowing anything about it and I loved every minute of it. It was suspensful, creepy, and flawless in my opinion. I told someone about it soon after and I said: "That was literally a masterpiece." By the way, when I saw this the first time, it was in the 11-15 area, but I saw it again and it made the top 10. It was better the 2nd time! :) 10. City Lights. (1931) Just a delightful story with a great romance, some occasional laughs, and one of the most uplifting endings ever in film, even 90 YEARS LATER.
Couldn’t agree with you more about 2001. My brother sat me down at age 12 in our small dark spare room with only a sofa and TV in it to watch it. That’s when I fell in love with cinema. I only let myself watch it every few years.
The Tale of the Princess Kaguya. I love the plot, the colors, the setting, and the drama in the movie. I have a lot of Studio Ghibli favorites but this is my number 1 favorite movie

This is such a loaded question. You can really tell the depth of someone’s intellect and character by their answers; I’m completely embarrassed for so many people in the comments.

That is absolutely NOT a weird choice. It's interesting that it wasn't regarded that highly upon it's release, but it's reputation has grown. Pretty cool also to see a pre MCU Mark Ruffalo & RDJ in the same movie

great list - I used to think the 400 Blows was the greatest film I'd ever seen on the subject of childhood, but for me it was eclipsed when I saw Pather Panchali (I hadn't heard of Nayak so I googled it, and it's by the same director so you probably know it). I also saw by Ray, Aparajito and Jalsaghar
