I am so glad that you said we all have an obligation to salvation for ourselves and others and each of us is 'given a 'special' gift to propel that along. I personally disagree with evangelist that God has a 'plan for your life'. Everyone must make personal decisions to get to salvation. We are not on a predestined track to fail or succeed. God has ONLY ONE plan for each of us and that is the plan of salvation.

You’re absolutely right about how the course teaches us to have a function. It often says salvation cannot be found alone. And when it says “you” it also means you all, all the sons of god. So we can’t just change our own mind, we must also be an example onto others so that they too can say “hmm, what is this path that they are on that gives them such peace.” We don’t give or force information, but we remain an example to the earth so that when they want to ask us what Christ is all about, we are ready and wiling to share. I wonder if Bill didn't teach because he had a sense his life was not going to span enough time after he retired as he knew his health challenges too. Also I struggle with a partner who does not see things the way I do and its really difficult to apply your self fully when another person is disagreeing with you so much. carol how mentioned there was so much forgiveness he had to work on with Helen if it is remotely like my situation there are so many times you just think I cant do this and only work on applying it in yourself to avoid engagement in conflict. I am being called and I have said yes and just lately find so much teaching opportunity in recent change of situation in my life and I love it as God unfolds it for me. Its true this has brought more happiness than so much else in my life and all the things you talked about of why to say no come up for sure. thank you for your great great expansion of understanding the ACIM teachings so wonderful.
If everyone is appointed to two functions why is it referred to as 'special' function? Marianne defined 'Special' as being dysfunctional. Anything that is special is really dysfunctional. For example a special relationships are dysfunctional because we really one and supposed to love everyone. (individuals who are differently abled are often referred to as special needs.)
In the part that says you " you do not forgive the unforgivable but pardon is always justified , i thought it would be easier to understand if the word pardon would have a capital P - Pardon , it took me a while to work it out
While I find ACIM generally quite interesting, I believe there is a problem that the concept of reincarnation seems to be denied by the book. There is ample evidence of reincarnation via NDE reports, other channelings etc. As many of the NDE stories appear to be quite credible, this seems to be raising questions about the actual authorship of ACIM. Any thoughts?
ACIM doesn't deny reincarnation. It simply says it's not helpful to the student because it takes the focus away from the present where the decision on whether to forgive or not is made. The notes in particular reference many of what appear to be Course scribe Helen Schucman's previous lives. Also, we believe this is a reference to past lives: I am quite willing to tell you about your past when it no longer is of any interest to your ego, and if it is of help to someone else. [CE T-5.VII.6:1] acimce.app/:T-5.VII.6:1 "No longer of interest to your ego" means that the ego loves to think we were someone great in a past life and the ego also loves to use the past to justify its own behavior in the present, e.g. I was abused in a past life and that why I [fill in the blank]." A great way to answer this for yourself would be to read Lesson 192: "I have a function God would have me fill." It discusses that tension between the reality of a formless Heaven and the fact that we have a God-given function in this world. I encourage you to check it out.
