My dog knew when my friend became pregnant. Whenever she was around, my dog would check any room she moved to, and stayed by her side pretty much the whole time
Brilliant talk that opens up more thoughtful discussion about the human/ animal connection and how we can all gain a deeper understanding of ourselves, our clients, and our beloved animals. I really enjoyed this video.
Very interesting and enlightening talk. I’m partially blind and have grown up with dogs all my life and now have a guide dog. Even with normal pet dogs and dogs of other people, I think could somehow sense I was blind, because the majority of them had been much more gentle and protective of me than with anyone else, and with other peoples dogs, they are amazed at how their dogs who normally jump up on everyone else never did this to me. And one rottweiler my family had many years ago, although by no means a trained guide dog, I’m sure was somehow well aware of my blindness, would walk up to meas soon as I came outside, and would block the stairs until I was beside her and would not budge until I held onto her collar or put my hand on her shoulder and then she would guide me up or down the stairs. I’m not sure how she could tell I was blind and possibly needed her help, because I never tripped up or fell down the stairs. Jedda, (this rottie I’m referring to,) was such a clever dog. And my guide dog I have now is the same, always loves to help me even when he’s off duty. And hahaha, yep that rabbit sure looks like a “Killer,” LOL. ❤️
You can talk to your dog -- as often as you want or need to -- just don't expect him to answer you back all the time in a way that you'll understand :-)
My comment was meant to assist the viewer, not to offend the speaker. She is probably new to public speaking. Try giving a TED Talk yourself before you make fun...
10:44 This reminds me of a recent episode with my German Shepherd/Husky. She was in the car with me when I went to pick up my sister from her horseback riding class. I arrived near the riding arena the exact minute when my sister felt from her horse. It wasn't anything too serious, fortunately, but at that moment it scared me. That's when my dog started barking - precisely like she had felt my fear.
Actually she is correct because she was discussing a person who was in a starvation state and was breaking down muscle and fat in order to keep the body going. Ketosis is the when the body lacks adequate energy from carbohydrate intake which has in fact been shown to be detrimental especially in populations that engage in restrictive eating behavior consistently over time. We who work in sports nutrition are well aware of the detrimental effects of consistent ketosis. The term ketoacidosis is more often used in diabetic patients who lack the ability to produce endogenous insulin.
Over-doing anything is bad. If you do a diet to the point it goes from using your fat to using your muscles, it 's not the nutritionist you have to consult but your psychotherapist. I would not neither do this diet over a very extended period of time. But see the comment below, some metabolisms can take it apparently..
lyonel scapino You're right it's not good if your body "goes from using your fat to using your muscles". But different diets work for different people; and correctly-done ketosis works well for some (like me). Just like some people thrive on six small meals per day, while others thrive on intermittent fasting. Ultimately we each need to experiment and find what gives us our own individual optimum results.
Mimi Lookamie If I had to guess, I'd say it could be because she has to be directly spotlit for the entire video, and those spots can get awfully unpleasant (due to temperature and extremely unnatural lumen quality). Maybe the rabbit was happier being on the periphery? As a registered therapy animal, the rabbit was in no danger of falling; but I can understand why it could make you feel uncomfortable.
She must have prepared a 5 minute speech and as she was about to go on stage she was told her slot is actually 15 minutes.... "Don't worry. I got this"
This lady is typical of the so called intellectuals who think that this journey is for nothing. Well the news is, if you think finite then that is what you are, and that is all you can see. If she knew anything at all about what God really is, then she would know that eternity is not boring, but instead the greatest adventure of all . She would know that when you leave this realm you have only just begun to explore and discover and learn. We know nothing here, what we know is so small it doesn't even register in the realm of no space and time. You ask, how do I know this, and I will tell you it is because I have experienced the realm of no time and space. Yes, and I am still alive, but I see and know more then this poor lady will ever know. Her world is small and she can't imagine what wonder awaits her. There are many like her, and there are many who were once like her, until they too were given the gift of a Near Death Experience or a vision, which changes the way you think and view the world. Your brain is literally re-programmed and you are never the same again. Tho she seems to be a dear lady, I hope you don't listen to her because if you do, you will be selling yourself short and maybe missing the greatest adventure of all. By the way this lecture was does not say anything about dogs, so the comments I see don't line up with this lecture. What's up with that?
Thump that bible and your false god... Congratulations you spew some mindless babbling... Science is the truth proven by fact... Not a fairytales from a book made up by man... Evolution lady you're a primate and most definitely acting like one...
What did this video have to do with this topic...Nothing as far as I can tell... 14 minutes of my life I will never get back...Geez...Thanks a lot for nothing..
Wow, you obviously need a hobby if you feel this is a good use of your time to troll someone on the internet. There are lots of problems in this world, maybe you could spend your time doing something productive. Clearly you don't have a degree in sports nutrition if you touting the "benefits" of ketosis while trolling someone who is speaking about a client with an eating disorder.
